Bonaparte II Tournament Game #1 PBEM

Dortmund and Cologne conquered, Reims retaken.
German troop concentration south of Mainz anihilated, German troops between Cologne and Reims cut off. Kassel raided (well really I attacked with a cuirasser by misstake and won, luckily I had enough moves left afterwards to retreat back into Hannover :o).
Zurich has been evacuated, the city is expected to be in enemy hands temporarily.

In order to pay for the ever increasing war on the continent many french and british church bells have been melted.

Attack on Portsmouth succesfull with sky high brittish naval losses. French high command was perplexed to find that neither the diversion invassion outside Plymouth or the real advance on Portsmouth had been stopped. Making use of the situation the diversionary force near plymouth raided the city and torched three 2-deckers in port. The seizing of the british admirality is expected to greatly aid French naval forces around the world...

Danzig Falls!

Ofverste G.C. von Dobeln rallies his men for the final assault on Danzig.

Heavy fighting in "von Dobeln's Midnight Charge."

A single soldier of the Bjorneborgs Regiment, Second Brigade, fends off the enemy on
a bridge over the Marina Wiste.

Laughing at the Prussian "victory" against our "entire" expeditionary force in the spring, the remainder of our expeditionary force landed outside Danzig this month and easily wiped out the petty remainder of its garrison. On the 7th of July, Ofverste G.C. von Dobeln led the 2384 men of Second Brigade in a daring midnight charge against Prussian positions in the western outskirts of the city, easily routing a regiment of musketeers and a heavily fatigued detatchment of Kurasiers in a matter of hours.

Ofverste Sandel's Fifth Brigade was then brought in for 'mopping up operations.' He sent the substandard conscripts of Kajana Batallion to seize the port facility, where they burned a brig and bomb ketch after taking their crews prisoner. The veteran Vasa Regiment double-timed it to the city center in hopes of finding some sort of challenge, but instead they simply found the guns of one foot artillery battery and one howitzer battery being repaired in local blacksmith shops. The guns were quickly destroyed, while their operators were found asleep in their barracks and arrested.

After the city was declared secure by dawn, the Mörnerska Hussar Regiment rode south of Danzig and attacked the battered army that had counterattacked us, wiping out the already fatigued soldiers of one musketeer regiment and one Jager battallion. Judging by the meager forces devoted to the Prussian counteroffensive we plan to hold Danzig indefinitely, especially as our first-rate merchant marine will land reinforcements on a regular basis.

Troops of the Second Brigade cheer Ofverste von Dobeln upon hearing the news that Sandel's Fifth
Brigade had declared Danzig secure.

Danzig Liberated!

It seems the stubborn Swedes does not take a hint. So Wilhelm ordered the use of the imperial reserves in the region to be used against the rag tag army that somehow managed to capture Danzig. It is without doubt the result of sloppy work by the local Prussian forces in the area.

From locations near the city, crack elite Prussian forces moved in on the city and slaughtered every Swede they could find. With a Prussian Kurasier unit for each Swedish regular musketeer unit there was really no battle to talk of. Once the Swedish "army" was run over, Prussian foot soldiers moved in and secured the city. Once again there is no Swedish soldier in Prussia. And it proves the Prussian superiority when it comes to quality vs quantity.

Perhaps it is time for Sweden to talk terms for peace? Or Prussia will be forced to come knocking on your city gates.

Bruxelles falls to the advancing Prussian army!

With the French counter offensive underway, the Prussian army near Paris have pushed further deep into France. This time it was the city Bruxelles that was defeated. This will hopefully allso cut off supplies to French forces further east.

There was alot of heavy fighting in and around the city, and french losses where 1 Uhlan, 3 Foot artillery and 2 Line Infantry. Prussian losses where light with only a few light cavalry lost.

The battle for Germany continues

A French army assembled west of Hannover was annihilated. The French forces where allready exausted after participating in the attack against Dortmund, to they fell easy prey to the Prussian army.

A French Dragoon was destroyed east of Mainz.

Other news:

*Swedish brig sunk outside Stralsund.

WAR!

In responce to the Swedish blockade of our Baltic Ports, the Northern Army has crossed the frontier into the Swedish province of Finland.

Helsingfors, Abo Taken

The great Swedish fort outside Helsingfors proved no match for the veteran artillery men of the Northern Army. As soon as the survivors of the forts defenders had been marched into captivity, the infantrymen of the IV Corps pushed along the coast road, taking the port town of Helsingfors.

As soon as the Imperial Flag was raised over Helsingfors, ships from the Baltic Fleet set sail from Revel loaded with the troops of the Imperial Guards Corps. After being landed in Helsingfors and on the beaches to the south of Abo, these elite troops attacked Abo. While intense resistence had been expected, the city was found to be guarded only by a single regiment. After this regiment was scattered, cavalry and infantry entered the city, raising the Russian flag over the battered remnants of the once-great fortresses.

Swedish Fleet Defeated

While the Northern Army was winning it's great victories, the Baltic Fleets warships were proving their worth. The Swedish ships which had dared to blockade our waters were reduced to splinters, with the Russian crewmen becoming 'veterans' in the process!

It was? I thought that you were quietly reacting to my massive build-up on the Finnish border ;)

So to get this straight: you would have attacked had I ctrl-n'ed or not. In that case I don't care. ;)

Yeah, that's about the long and short of it. ;)

Would you be willing to accept peace for a willing handover of Finland?

  • Plymouth falls!
The force allready fortified near Plymouth was siginificantly reinforced last month and in september, acompanied by French marine infantry landing on the shores of Plymouth.
Among the british losses was another 2 decker (apart from the 3 other ones destroyed in raids last month) a howitzer regiment and a few infantry units.
  • Prussian invassion reppeled! Mainz and Brussels falls...

Brussels has been swiftly retaken and what remained of the pitifull Prussian invassion force has been anihilated near or in Brussels. The city of Mainz was also attacked by French forces and fell with only light French losses.
  • Austrian troop concentration anhilated as Zurich is leveled to the ground!
A few austrian units (6?) in the recently evacuated city of Zürich has been destroyed by French artillery bombardment. More Austrian troops are believed to be in the mountains, French commanders are however quite confident that they will either be dead or have surrendered within a month.
  • Technology has also been gifted to our allies in our war against the Brittish coalition.

Ofverste G.C. von Dobeln leads the third offensive against Danzig.

- In a testament to the quality of Sweden's merchant marine, our troops landed at Danzig and captured it AGAIN, along with wiping out nearly all the troops outside the city. Prussian losses were tallied at SIX musketeer regiments, two Kurasier detachments, two grenadier regiments, and the entire vaunted Garde du Corps, which was heavily damaged along with most of the petty counterattackers. Prussia's eastern army HAS to be at the end of its tether by now... :aargh:

- The Swedish Navy has blockaded the port of Stettin, in case transports from the city have been assisting their Danzig operations.

- No action whatsoever was taken against the Russians, in hopes that they'll accept our offer to peacefully hand over the remainder of Finland. Our diplomats have waited for weeks and gotten no response.
