Faction Reports
Atomic Foxes
Spoiler :
The pipes, the pipes they are calling. A bagpiper has immigrated to the Atomic Foxes and caused much discord among the people, due to the loud and foreign noise they create. A few have enjoyed the alleged music, but the majority of the Foxes do not, and the bagpiper was encouraged to practice away from the community itself. This has led to occasional outdoor performances and gatherings among the population away from the walls of the community, as the aficionados of the instrument travel away from the town for dancing and parties. The parties were even more important after a massive attacked by a group calling themselves the Scourge. With overwhelming numbers and deployment of heavy weapons, the Scourge caused massive damage and neutralized a few suits of power armor in the process. The settlement of Lake Park barely managed to hold out against the attack, as the Scourge took up siege positions around the community, and the Atomic Foxes ran out of ammunition. The Foxes were rescued as a relief force arrived from Lakeshire, honoring the alliance in place. With a decent amount of ranged weapons, the Lakeshire militia devastated the Scourge and spurred a rebellion in their ranks. The defenders within Lake Park provided what little assistance they could, as the Lakeshire fighters destroyed the raider band to much celebration. Most of the spoils of the battle were taken by the victorious Lakeshire militia, but the food and water recovered were immediately provided to the Atomic Foxes. Most of the slaves returned to Lakeshire with the militia, but a few did decide to stay with the Foxes at Lake Park.

+15 Population from immigration
-105 Food and Water from consumption
Commanders Challenge: The continuing problems our faction has suffered have not gone unnoticed by the people of Lakeshire. In the recent battle with the Scourge, they helped save our people, and have given us an offer. They have welcomed our people to migrate to Lakeshire and join their community, stating that they produce ample food and water. They have suggested that the Atomic Foxes become the official military of Lakeshire, and reorganize into a new faction around the more prosperous community. They have suggested the creation of the Georgian Republic (name pending), with Lakeshire as the capital and elections to be held for a new President prior to unification. A few of our more liberal people are in favor of this proposal, but others suggest that democracy is highly overrated and that the Atomic Foxes are destined for glory with or without the people of Lakeshire. How do we respond?
The Citadel
Spoiler :
The Citadel has managed to fortify its position to an extent, establishing a new automated defense system from the bases components, but they have begun seeing the severity of their position. Charleston was apparently a heavy target for Chinese missiles during the Great War and large swathes of it suffered direct hits, including the area immediately around the bunker. The radiation continues to remain high in rad count, and attempting to move through the city without power armor is equivalent to suicide. Thankfully, being in possession of fifty suits of the valuable armor, the Citadels people have managed to scout out their location fairly well. The high rad count in the area have made Charleston completely avoided by human travelers and settlers, while a massive amount of ghouls exist and remain perpetually hostile to any human life. A number of skirmishes took place between the scouts and the ghouls, but thanks to superior firepower victory was never in doubt. With the grim report of the surrounding area brought home, many are concerned about the future.
Turn Stat Changes
-250 Water from contamination
-40 Tech Parts from construction
-75 Ammunition from local scouting losses
+50 Scrap Parts, +3 Tech Parts from local salvage
-300 Food and Water from consumption
Commanders Challenge: At current rates of consumption, we are likely to run out of clean water in less than two years. The area around our base is so radioactive it would likely kill any who pass through it, much less try to farm or obtain water from it. Worse yet, a recent contamination of our water supplies has shown that the radiation has begun to leak into our bunker. Some have suggested that we take what few moderate radiation routes we know and evacuate, trying to find a new place to settle. With the situation dire, we are concerned that there may be little other choice. How do we respond to these concerns?
The Conch Thalassocracy of the Keys
Spoiler :
The Thalassocracy once more faced a threat from the old nemesis of the Tubarões, who launched a direct attack on Duck Key early in the year. The attack was repulsed with minor losses, sinking one of the attackers ships in the process. Ample construction took place over the next few months, as a new raft was constructed and replacement farming equipment was deployed in the small fields of the island community. Help was received from abroad for the first time as a major trade was undertaken with the Saint Vikings in the north, as ample stores of ammunition and guns were exchanged for a sizeable amount of scrap parts. Immigrants have begun to arrive to the island for the first time, as an independent merchant from the mainland has brought a small group to the relative safety of the island, signaling perhaps a new chapter of growth and expansion for the small community.

High Doge-Presidents Challenge: Our market has begun to attract a number of traders from throughout the Keys, and continues to make us a desirable target for raiders. Interestingly enough, this has offered us a chance to end the incessant raider attacks on our island. The Tubarões, through an intermediary have offered to stop their attacks if we allow for the sale and purchase of slaves in our market, even granting protection, if we provide them with food and water supplies. Of course, some of our people are likely to be unhappy if we treat with these marauders who have harassed us for the better part of a decade. How do we respond to this proposal?
Maritime Collective
Spoiler :
The Maritime Collective started their year fairly poorly, as a massive raider assault was launched upon the fortified settlement. The raiders showed up with substantial firepower and weaponry, and caused a number of fires and casualties before they were at last repulsed after heavy fighting. Unfortunately a hydroponics farm within the compound caught fire in the process and was totally destroyed, a loss for further construction. Hoping to recover some morale from the disasters that preceded them, an expedition was sent east by boat to scout and hopefully salvage the Hulbert Air Force Base from before the Great War. Unfortunately, upon arriving they found an already extant and well-armed settlement there, which offered friendly greetings before informing them that no salvage was allowed on their base. The expedition was thus forced to return home empty-handed.

Mayors Challenge: A troubling case has emerged in our community, and the issue has come before the Mayor for resolution. A woman and man had been together for a few years, and she had two children for him. The relationship didnt last, and they separated, but the woman has begun to insist that the man should provide a portion of his food rations and other assets to her to help support the children. He claims that the children are the womans responsibility and not his. The issue has become the most talked about matter in our community and a decision either way could spur factionalism or dissent. How do we rule in this case?
Monastic Brotherhood of Poor-Fellows and Crusader Knights
Spoiler :
The Brotherhood has had a peaceful beginning to the year as they continue to develop their economy with extensive salvage efforts in nearby areas. They have had ample successes in their efforts as they recover a large amount of materials and other parts. The largest expedition was sent to The Villages, as the local collections of abandoned homes and subdivisions were salvaged for everything they were worth. A number of buildings were dismantled and turned into scrap, and in the process, a sizeable amount of tech parts were recovered and brought home. Similarly, an expedition that went to Hawthorne, a town well picked over by previous salvage parties, found a stockpile of tech parts as they were dismantling an old warehouse. Pleased with the salvage of these months, ample celebration took place among the Brotherhoods workers.

Grandmasters Challenge: To our annoyance, the self-proclaimed prophet has returned to us from the wastes, along with the skeptic we sent to accompany him. He has claimed to have seen the New Eden himself, and to have spoken with the avatars of God in the gardens. The skeptic who had accompanied him is now more devout than we had ever seen previously and confirmed Gods presence in a paradise to the west. He even told things along the lines of animals coming to their camp to slay themselves when they ran short on food, and in one case, a group of giant ants actually brought them water. These tales and stories have begun to build up the alleged prophets support among the masses, and he has begun to find much larger amount of people willing to listen to his sermons. How do we respond to this new development?
Nasa
Spoiler :
Nasa has seen an ample amount of development over these six months, as they begin and complete construction helping to improve livings standards across the board. Mims itself was dramatically improved as an old purifier was dismantled and replaced by a heavier capacity pumping station, along with being granted new farming equipment. They were also granted new fortifications, in the nick of time. A major raider attack was launched on Mims, and the fight which resulted could very well have overrun the town if the Nasa forces had not been present. After a vicious battle, the raiders retreated, leaving Nasa firmly in control of the town and surrounding area. In other local news, scavengers around Titusville have at last reported that after years of extensive salvage and recovery work, theres no longer any substantial amount of recoverable scrap remaining, and trees and swamps have begun to replace old ruins and roads.
A small expedition was launched to follow up on last years expedition down the coast. Using a new vessel, they proceeded carefully along the coast, remaining within sight of land at all times, and occasionally using inlets to go further inland. They remained in contact by radio with Nasacity at all times, allowing them to have a decent idea of where problems began to arise. The expedition went well enough at first, retrieving a minute amount of scrap from selected locations in Port St. Lucie, and little else was recovered. The expedition met a friendly but small community in the Johnathan Dickinson State park, calling itself Refuge and offering a safe berth for the ships crew, as the inhabitants were familiar with Nasa from its frequent radio broadcasts. The expedition ran into trouble near Jupiter, when the scouting canoe was attacked and destroyed by a group of raiders calling themselves after the most feared animal invader of Florida, the snowbird. The crew of the ship itself was able to drive them away and outmaneuver the raiders in their canoes. Shortly after this battle, the radios at Nasa lost all contact with the expedition, and after several months of waiting, it became clear that the vessel was likely lost in some unknown fight further south, with all hands.

Commanders Challenge: Our radio operators have begun to report headaches and occasional blackouts while working the airwaves. Doctors claim that this could simply be the effect of working too close to too many electronics for great lengths of time. They have suggested that operators be rotated out to avoid prolonged illness. Others have argued that this could diminish the value and effects of our radio broadcasts across the wasteland and instead suggest occasional downtime in broadcasting, rather than constantly changing up the workers. How do we respond?
New Age Corporation
Spoiler :
The New Age Corporation has had very little going on, though they have developed in a new direction internally. Despite some objections for various reasons they have allowed the sale and purchase of slaves in the Corporate marketplace in Saint Augustine. This has begun to attract a number of new merchants as people within the community buy slaves to assist around the house from the slave traders. A new jail was constructed to help hold the merchandise prior to sale, aiding in the development of the local economy. A decent sized expedition was sent northwest to the tiny pre-war town of St. Johns to explore the remote suburb of Jacksonville. To the surprise of the expedition it appears that prevailing winds prevented much radiation in the area, and the soil was surprisingly fertile. Only a few scattered monsters, likely forced out of Jacksonville itself, populate the ruins, and salvage proved to be quick and easy for the expedition.

CEOs Challenge: With large numbers of slaves beginning to enter through our markets, there has been some discussion on where these slaves should be housed. Some arguments have been made that housing should be up to the slaves individual owners and that they should provide the lodgings. Others have argued instead that the slaves should be given a community residence, partitioned off from the rest of the community by fences and walls. What approach should we take to this new debate?
New Gulf Commonwealth
Spoiler :
The New Gulf Commonwealth has expanded once more, now incorporating Umatilla into its ranks. Concerned about the Monastic Brotherhoods intentions and a growing shortage of supplies, Umatilla was quickly annexed into the Commonwealth, and a strong garrison was sent to the small community. Construction immediately began on new fortifications, extending and supporting existing ones to develop the defense of the town. Shortly after, a major expedition was launched to the south, heading towards the ruins of Apopka. The area was found to be somewhat radioactive, but mostly faded in recent years, still full of all sorts of nasty monsters. The massive expedition set up a salvage camp and perimeter, constantly fending off haphazard attacks by all sorts of creatures and bandits. A massive amount of salvage was recovered, but the greatest boon came from a reinforced locked pre-war army truck. After having an expert break the lock, they found inside a few tech parts, but more importantly, ten completely intact suits of power armor. This treasure was brought back with all the rest of the salvage, and could be a major pillar of support for future military efforts of the Commonwealth.

Governors Challenge: When we took over the Emerald Vault, we came into possession of a number of Pip-Boys, and have since distributed them among our people. Recently our radio tower workers have been reporting problems with their Pip Boys, as it seems the radio has begun to interfere with the problem. They claim that the problem likely lies with an overlapping signal trying to diminish the Pip-Boys functionality. They have asked for the chance to halt broadcasting for a short while to triangulate the source of the disruptions. Critics state that this would likely disrupt our efforts to attract immigrants and new people to the Commonwealth while the triangulation experiments take place, possibly for no benefit other than satisfying curiosity. How do we respond to this debate?
Saint Vikings
Spoiler :
The situation for the Saint Vikings is growing ever more serious. Rising numbers of afflicted people from the unknown disease, now called Exsecratio dehisciosis, "Curse of the Yawn," Yawn disease for short. To combat the extent of this illness, the Overseer has ordered several new studies to be conducted to discern any difference between Vault-dwellers and survivors, as well as possible modes of infection. He has ordered over the radio that all survivors in the wasteland should steer away from the Tampa area, to prevent infection. Surprisingly though, the number of immigrants has actually tripled, as newly arriving nomads claim that they have instead heard ample messages calling for all, promising unending supplies of food and water as well as safety to those who come to Vault 73. As the vault has begun limiting new immigrants to Hangarville, most of these would-be new citizens have instead settled in a hodgepodge community built in the ruins of Clearwater called Hope. They have made do with local fishing and farming, though they remain short on all sorts of supplies.
Almost the whole focus among the Saint Vikings was in determining the symptoms and cause of the Yawn Disease that has blighted the population. Within Hangarville, a large number of people have begun sleepwalking at night, just meandering about the compound with no apparent direction or reasoning. It has been clear that, so far, the illness begins with headaches and nightmares, and eventually progresses to sleepwalking. It is unclear as of yet whether there are other stages to the illness. Blood and other physical tests do not show any change within those afflicted beyond their mental state. As far as anyone can tell, there is no physical difference between the afflicted and the non-afflicted, beyond that no one among vault dwellers have been affected despite sharing in missions and salvaging efforts. There are no differences in the air or any other features, and at the moment, the people studying the ailment at home are stumped. Those who had travelled to the Calusa came back with far more alarming details of what appears to be the end game of the ailment. There appear to be no children among the Calusa, only full grown adults, all which are in incredible apparent physical shape, towering over seven feet tall each. They work in utter silence and unison, and the observers called it similar to ants. Oddly, they never appear to eat, drink, or sleep, despite being in prime physical condition. At night they stand motionless, while sentries surround a perimeter. On a side note, one of the Calusa was spotted conversing with an older robed man and a guard for a day, before they departed to the east. Talking with the elderly visitor, he declared that these are the God and the angels in a new Eden, but showed no signs of the illness. His compatriot was clearly afflicted, being witnessed to sleepwalk during the night. No one is sure what to make of all this, but there is considerable concern that whatever transformed the Calusa could one day fully transform the people of the Saint Vikings.

Overseers Challenge: The Yawn Disease has progressed to a new stage. The earliest afflicted now have purpose and collaborate while asleep and are much more difficult to wake up. They seem to be interested in digging, and have frequently ventured out to dig holes around their homes. This has led to some minor injuries, but there have been reports of people cooperating on holes while they sleepwalk. The vault dwellers have begun to lobby harder and harder for a quarantine and purge of Hangarville to stop the possible spread of infection to the Vault, and have become more and more fearful, especially as the report from the Calusa becomes common knowledge. How do we respond?
Survivalist Union
Spoiler :
The Survivalist Union found itself wanting for contacts, despite actively trying to make contact with local raiders and Nasacity once more. A ship was spotted off the coast, but stayed too far away to make any sort of signal or acknowledgement, though some claim to have seen the colors of Nasa on the side. With no other sign of civilized life for the time being, the Union sent a new small expedition into Port St. Lucie, and found a decent haul of goods, including scrap. More importantly they found a concealed arsenal at an abandoned military outpost containing advanced laser weapons from before the war. These new weapons have been added to the Unions armory, prepared to assist in repelling any new attacks upon the community.

Headmans Challenge: Rats! Lots and lots of giant rats have begun infesting our city limits. They eat our food and soil our water, and no ones sure how to get rid of them or where they came from. Some have called for a clean sweep of the community and surrounding area to eliminate them all with superior firepower. Others argue for more moderated approaches, including trapping, which would allow the rats to be farmed as an inherent food source. How do we respond to this new problem?
Vault 37
Spoiler :
Vault 37 has entered into the world a bit anti-climatically, leaving the vault for the first time since the end of the Great War, and finding the world empty. The region surrounding the immediate area of St. Cloud seems bereft of any significant life, though scouts and later salvage expeditions did occasionally find evidence of passing human travelers. The region itself seems empty of any significant hostile wildlife, though giant rats and radroaches abound throughout the area. Thankfully, its clear the world isnt completely silent as once dead radios pick up a variety of signals from three different locations. Its clear that there is ample civilized life out there, just not in the immediate area. Salvage teams managed to recover a large amount of scrap from St. Cloud, and even found themselves a few intact tech parts to boot, but little else of interest.

Overseers Challenge: The standard GOAT test for assigning jobs to school graduates in the Vault has been recently criticized, as opponents claim that the test does not take into account new possible professions with the world opened up. They suggest that the test should be abandoned in favor of a more apprentice-like setup. Others claim that this is an absurd break from tradition and Vault-Tec regulations, and that the GOAT test should not be so hastily abandoned. How do we respond to this debate?
Vault 40
Spoiler :
The people of Vault 40 have continued their expansion across the wastes, seeking to fortify the supply route to Port Authority with the construction of a new outpost in Naples. The city airport was settled and partially fortified by the vault dwellers, helping protect the supply line. Not a moment too soon as it turned out as a large raider band assaulted Port Authority, inflicting heavy casualties in the process. The battle was hard fought, but thanks to overwhelmingly superior firepower, the defenders managed to drive back the attack and send the raiders scurrying back into the wasteland. Unfortunately this did disrupt local salvage efforts in Fort Myers, as many of those who were to be assigned to the salvage team were killed or wounded in the raider attack. Despite this setback, they did manage to make a significant find, looting an old gun store and finding a large number of personal weapons and attached ammunition. The supplies were brought back to the base at Port Authority, and have entered into the armory there. In other good news, the establishment of more bases has allowed for the storage of more food and water from the vault production systems, allowing for larger stockpiles to be held by the faction as a whole.

Overseers Challenge: With two new settlements in the wastes, but poorly fortified ones, we have found new immigrants seeking to live there rather than make the dangerous journey into the swamps to the vault. Even though the creation of new fortified settlements and our well-guarded food and water convoys along the Tamiami Trail have made the journey safer, most would prefer not to make the trip. On the other hand, there are security concerns about letting people live in our new airfield oriented bases. Should we allow nomads to make their homes in our subsidiary settlements?
