I've heard about something where you take your brain, and put it into a new body. I read you can increase your life span if you do that

What do you think

I don't think that is currently possible....

Besides I'd call it a body transplant.

i mean, what do you think about it?

About the life span. Brain is like other organ, If the brain is healthy and your body is not, then It would increase your life span, if you have alhzeimer mad cow disease or Parkinson, the brain, or body, transplant won't help.

And brain transplant is a triky one, as other people said, the technology is not available yet, mainly because your brain is conected to all your body through nerves and through the spinal cord. So you'll have to do one of two things, transplant everything, brain and spinal cord and reestablish contacts with all your body parts, (think about your senses, ears, eyes, nose, have to be reconnected to your brain), or transplant only your brain and then get the connections to the spinal cord and to your senses too.

Soon the elderly will stalk the streets by night searching for idling youngsters who aren't making good use of their bodies anyway!:hide:

It's not as simple as transfering a Hard Drive from one computer to the other :ack:.

Perhaps downloading the contents of your brain into a computer and then placing those contents into an empty brain in a new body sounds like the way to go, but not physically taking the brain from one body to the other. Content transfer is a better idea

Why do you say that?

I think we need a volunteer, a few million dollars, some of the best minds on these here forums, a crazy scientist with some awesome lab and probably a monkey that already had a brain transplant, more for effect but w/e.

anyone up for the job?

Do I still get paid if it fails?

Let's work on trying to reattach paralyzed peoples brains to their own bodies first.

Content transfer is better because it means you don't have to pull out the brain, put it in the new body and then reattach everything. If you take the brain contents, put them on a computer and then convert it back into biological signals into a new brain, it saves time and is more practical.
