Brave New World's 9 new Civs

It's the Javanese (Majapahit).

Image search for Gajah Mada. He was the Prime Minister of Majapahit under Hayam Wuruk.

It would just strike weird to me to have Italy in the scenario but Venice in the main game, the next European civ is going to be very interesting. Hopefully that'll be the dark horse. I feel like getting really surprised and see an outrage of people ranting that the civ isn't worth including.

It's not weird, any more than giving Morocco a pre-Scramble leader (as looks to be the case). The scenarios were a key feature of G&K civ selection by the designers' admission, but that was a G&K theme. There was an expectation, but never any evidence, that scenarios would inform civ selection this time round, but with the civs now mostly revealed we can fairly unequivocally reject that hypothesis.

That's certainly not a Khmer clothing style; the skin tone also seems paler, closer to Malay than Khmer. Also, is that a tattoo or face paint on the cheek? Also not a Khmer tradition.

Tattoos and pale skin would fit with the Vietnamese. :goodjob:

BBut yeah Indonesia looks the most likely.

So...

ITR UA for Morocco or Majapahit?

Here is a photo of Gajah Mada. Note the similarities.

Yeah, I think Mada is most likely the leader.

So:

Assyria
Brazil
Majapahit
Morocco
Poland
Portugal
Sioux
Venice
Zulu

I'm starting to buy Indonesia, but I still think the other SE Asian options have a possibility.

What's the exact alphabetic connection with the 4 unrevealed civs?

Indonesia and Morocco means the final 2 civs fit alphabetically between:

Portugal and the Zulu. Meaning the final European civ fits in between those letters too, so the final European civ is still most likely Venice (With very few other possibilities, Ukraine, Romania, etc)

told you kids no Italy with the achievements revealed the ways they did

Possibly now people will look more objectively at the "evidence" they believed so strongly pointed to Italy in combination and recognise its limitations.

Though based on nothing more than gut feeling I'd regard Italy as highly doubtful, and only felt it was a possibility due to some circumstantial evidence. The Italian states are one of the best-known features of European civilisation - I think that if Firaxis didn't consider Italy covered within Rome, an Italian civ would have made an appearance long before now, particularly since they already duplicated civs in Civ IV (Germany and HRE).

Vietnam is also a possibility. They did say there was a European civ tho... do the Moors count as European? In any case I do doubt Vietnam will be in.. it is most likely Venice and the Sioux/Pueblo, but it is not out of the realm of possibility still.

I just realized that if they wanted to, Pueblo is still a possibility (would come after Portgual)

Yep but severely doubtful because I assume Firaxis was too lazy to look that much for a decent replacement leader.

The atrocious Civ4 HRE only got in becuase they wanted to have Charlemagne in the game.

Moors are African. It fits with their general trend of having two African civs every edition(Egypt and Songhai in Vanilla, Ethiopia and Carthage in GnK and finally Moors and Zulu in BNW)

Looks like firaxis took this as a reference lol

Finally, majapahit :)

The only reason I mention it is look at how Kate phrased the question European. She specifically mentions if they were on the European landmass, which Morocco was for a lot of its history
