Brave New World's 9 new Civs

There's not going to be a USSR. It has no capital or city list and is already in the game as Russia as Great Britain is already in the game as England.

USSR did have a capital; Moscow. England does not cover all of Great Britain but only England itself. The Celts covers the rest of the Great Britain & Ireland

As the soviets renamed all their cities to Grad, there really would be a distinct city list (nominally, even if it's the same cities9. They would also be a very good ideology civ. Nevertheless, I can't really see them doing that. Seems to gimmicky. (now, alternative names for all civs for each ideology, that'd be immersive, give the Russians then a quick script that changes their city names and done...)

What on Earth does Ragusa change?

Since Venice didn't hold a lot of land that isn't already covered by other civ's in the game, even if they only held onto Ragusa for a short period it would be expected to be on the city list for Venice.

I don't think you got the point, or the countless pages of discussion on the matter. Throughout the series the USSR and Russia, as well as England and Great Britain, have been treated as the same. This is why Churchill, Victoria and such have been the leaders of England, and Stalin the leader of Russia. With Moscow as the capital of Russia, there will also not be a USSR Civ.

While I agree with you, they did have Germany and the Holy Roman Empire. (And Charlemagne could have been just another leader of France as well). So it's not without precedence.

Hardly the same thing though. There was some 8 centuries between Charlemagne's Empire and the Germany in the game, which is an entirely different situation to the USSR and Great Britain. Again, within the game it is clear how they've been represented.

What would you make their capital?

The European civ will probably end up being a surprise; Oh please have saint stealing Venetians!

The the list is Ukraine, Venice, Vandals, Sicily, Scynthians and Tuscany?

Anything else?

Slavs or Yugoslavia?

The entry of Morocco and Indonesia eliminates Italy?

Slavs or Yugoslavia?

Yugoslavia already confirmed out by Belgrade being a city state still.

The entry of Morocco and Indonesia eliminates Italy?

Yep, Venice is pretty much as good as confirmed. The interesting part is what their UA is going to be.

Yes, we received an alphabetical achievement list which we saw that there were 2 civs missing between the letters B and P (Morocco and Indonesia) and 2 civs missing between P and Z. Italy as the conglomerate is ruled out

If anything Venice, while still the frontrunner, had its odds reduced significantly with Ragusa - It is far from confirmed in the minds of Civfanatics

Is this purple a new civ next to Morocco on the mini map?

Spoiler :

If it's a new civ we can start guessing as to who might be purple.

Never tell that to a German. Do you think Barbarossa isn't a German King? (and civ5 btw. references Germans from Roman times with the Arminius the Cheruscan reference which would span the civ over the middle ages ;))

It's totally the same. There's a clear cultural continuum (which tbh would also combine the Dutch and Austrian civs into the civ, that is true). Just take a look at the strange city list they've created for the HRE civ in 4.

And it's not about the capital with the USSR, just pointing out that Firaxis has done stranger things yet.

Yes that is a new civ on the minimap

Royal looking purple and a white dot, unsure - Color schemes have never been my thing. 3 cities too, so not an OCC if it is Venice (and with the Ragusa exclusion...)
