Brave New World's 9 new Civs

Vietnam is a strange choice for a civ in BNW. Indonesia made much more sense due to it's trade history. Vietnam would make use of the ideology enhancement, I presume.

UAs can be changed. See also: France.

Ok, but they also said that they don't want to do it too much. Also I don't see them changing the UA of a civ only to give it to another that has a lot of better options.

Morocco could have a desert-trade related UA...that would be awesome :)

EDIT: now that i think about it...that's what Arabia does right now :p well I don't know then, but another desert civ would be great.

Hungary might still be in BNW, their chances are roughly as good as anybody else's. :crazyeye:

I could be wrong but someone said that the inclusion of one of the new city states excludes Hungary...I don't remember which one though.

I'd enjoy playing as, and would greatly welcome:
Indonesia
Morocco
Vietnam
Israel
Haiti
Gran Colombia
Hittites
Kongo
Philippines
Manchu
Sumeria
Navajo
Inuit
Khmer
Australia
Cuba

I wouldn't mind the inclusion of:
Sioux
Goths
Belgium
Timurids
Canada
Armenia
Hungary
Cherokee
Carib
Mississippians
Swahili
Argentina
and even... Italy

I think most would agree, there is room for another expansion or two after BNW, as far as civilizations go. The question is if they can come up with enough new worthy features to justify them. The main reason people around here are getting angry at certain civs, and aggressively defending others, I believe, is because there is a fear that BNW is the end. If this is the case, there are only four spots left, and that is why we have a debate of worthiness that is leading to such competitive speculation.

It depends on what city-list Firaxis would use. Bratislava(Pressburg) was an important city in medieval Hungary, but today it's the capitol of Slovakia and no more part of Hungary. It doesn't really exclude Hungary, just like Budapest or Prague didn't exclude Austria despite being important cities in the Austrian Empire.

I'd hope that they are planning to release a set of DLCs after Brave New World (similar to the DLC after Vanilla), if not a final full expansion. Some extra Civilizations and a couple of scenarios would be great. If we get a final 4 like:

1. Italy
2. Morocco
3. Sioux
4. Vietnam

I'd like to see as DLC (7 as with the first run):

1. Indonesia
2. Hittites
3. Sumeria
4. Charlemagne's Francia / Carolingian Empire / Holy Roman Empire, or whatever label they want to give it
5. Gran Colombia with Bolivar
6. Hungary
7. Timurids

The key ones being Sumeria, Indonesia, Bolivar's Gran Colombia (or otherwise) and Charlemange's Empire, under whatever name they are comfortable with. That would leave us with a nice 50 Civilizations (that sounds utterly ridiculous actually, I like it).

Add to that an African kingdom (Kongo? Mali?) and a Native American tribe (Nazca? Inuit?) and we got ourselves an expansion, which seems more likely than DLC.

To my serbians, montenegrin, slovenian, and so on, civfanatics friends. May I humbly ask something ? If there was (of course, we've already seen Belgrade as a CS, so it's out of question) a yugoslavian civ, would you prefer Peter I, or Tito as a leader ?

Tito.

I'm badly hoping for the Khmers to come back. It's a little bit of a nuisance that Siam took wats, but I think that there's more here to work with. A UB or UI Baray that boosts food? Admittedly, it's a little irritating that the Aztec UB toom that too, but the Khmers were legitimately good at it. A UA that boosts Great Engineers? I think that there are some neat possibilities.

Kongo, Ashanti, Hittites, Hungary, Mapuche, Vietnam... They in fact still have good Civs to choose from after this expansion.

I think once we have BNW, we should try to get the community together and make a flesh-out list of civs and features that we would want in a third expansion. I don't think they plan a third expansion, but they haven't said no either, so I think some good lobby work would be worth the effort. :D

Of course. Cape Town is a CS

Copenhagen, Seoul, Dublin, Edinburgh, Helsinki, Stockholm, Vienna, Lisbon, Rio de Janerio, and Warsaw; It's not like there is no precedent for adding a new Civ that's already represented by a City-State. All they have to do is remove/replace the City-State.

Cape Town is still a city-state in BNW. South Africa won't be in this expansion.

Well, after some thought I think it would be kind of interesting to have the Gauls in the game, considering that the Celts in game don't seem to cover them in the slightest.

To be honest, I would have been quite happy for them not to do a third expansion, if Indonesia were included in this one. The other Civs do all sound like they would be interesting additions to the game, but Indonesia is the only one whose absence would actually annoy me. I thought for sure they'd be added this time, but it seems not :(

Well, for me, the choice of the civs is the least important thing when doing an expansion. Sure, new civs are nice, but whether they chose one or the other doesn't really mean that much to me, as long as it offers exciting new game features.

Beginning work on Civ 6 doesn't mean they have to stop working on Civ V of course. We shouldn't expect big ass expansions, we could could still get patches, DLC, maybe even some small feature additions from a small team while the main team works on Civ 6.

That would be a really nice touch from them to show they care about the fans.
