I just won a cultural victory with Teddy (standard size/speed/most other settings, Immortal, Pangaea), and what I thought was interesting and pretty awesome was that I started out next to England, and I captured a bunch of her cities during the ancient-medieval eras. As I started to build archaeological museums in the former English cities, I realized that they came with 6 slots instead of the usual 3, probably due to the British Museum Civ ability. I didn't know that captured English cities retained part of the ability. (although after searching, I guess people did realize it earlier thing https://forums.civfanatics.com/thre...ly-works-in-cities-founded-by-england.601850/ )

Interestingly, archaeologists produced by these cities could grab up to 6 artifacts, or you could build another archaeologist just as if you were playing England. However they did not autotheme, and it was quite a pain to get the museums manually themed up as you required 6 artifacts from the same era but from different civilizations, but I managed to get 2 of them (plus a regular 3-slot museum) themed up.

Add the 6-slot themed museum bonus to the film studio 100% tourism output bonus, coupled with computers and heritage tourism (Mary Leakey wasn't in this game unfortunately), and it gave a +108 tourism just from the artifacts per themed British Film studio.

I got the Cultural Victory at turn 276 with 1260 tourism, coming from a bunch of theater squares, 11 seaside resorts, 2 national parks, with Forbidden City, Bolshoi Theatre, Eiffel Tower and Cristo Redentor. Not the fastest CV, but it has been the most entertaining game I've had in a while, and unfortunately I think it'll be difficult for me to top that for a bit, and I haven't had much of a drive to start a new game after this. Guess the next time I play Teddy i'll be looking out for English cities :D

Cool! Thanks for sharing! It helps to have screenshots for this. Did not know that capturing British cities means you keep any of their (civ-abilitied) museums. Is this true for other captured improvements, including tile improvements like the ziggurat?

I have to believe that isn't working as intended.

Generally no. All unique improvements seem to be autorazed when you capture a city (which is extremely lame, if you ask me). Similarly, any holy site will disappear if you capture the city as Kongo. However, there was a bug (don't know if they fixed it) where holy sites would disappear when captured by Kongo, but relic slots still appeared in the GW screen even though the actual building was razed.

Kongo also got around not having holy sites via conquest of Russia. The lavra wasn't a holy site s the game didn't raze it. Then Kongo can't have lavras, so it got changed to a holy site.

But yes, the British museums should not still be that when someone else takes them.

It's not so much that players shouldn't be able to capture British museums (they should, same as burial tombs) but the real bug is that players can build British museums in formerly British cities.

I agree. I think that any of a civs unique infrastructure should stay in a captured city (including Kongo capturing holy sites) but you shouldn't be able to build it any more once captured.

That's AMAZING lol.

right. I meant more that a former british city should not be able to make a british museum, rather than an already made one going away on capture.
