British weather

In April? Could be anything from snow, sleet, fog, cloud, rain, wind, sun or heatwave. On average, probably starting to warm up (a few sunny/dry/warm days/weeks) from the winter, but scattered showers minimum.

Southern England will almost certainly be warmer than Ottawa, though, with less snow.

Are you planning to visit or emigrate, or was this just a random curiosity?

What's the typical weather near Cambridge at this time of the year?

Cambridgeshire is actually one of the dryest counties in the UK.

Cool at daybreak and dusk but warm from midday well into the afternoon. Generally clear skies. Occasionally overcast and some showers typically overnight.

Cool means shirt and sweater, warm means just a shirt.

7 to 20 degrees celcius
not much rain
wind 6-10 mph

this week.

Swansea, pretty much the same, but more rain. If you get the train through Swansea, if you have a wait of more than five minutes go out of the darn station unless it's actually snowing. That station is the coldest place I've ever been: even on a scorching summer day you need a coat and gloves there.

What do I expect from British weather in April? I was sort of lead to believe it rains 37 hours a day...

Agreed. Also, cold (below 10C) means a coat/hat/gloves as well, and hot (above 25C) means T-shirts.

You may need an umbrella or rainproof coat, depending on when you come. The BBC weather forecast is usually fairly accurate.

You should expect variable weather. :mischief: Probably to include showery rain, some sun, and some wind, and cool to warm.

It is much warmer and dryer this April than most (global warming).

Britain being surrounded by sea has variable weather within a
modest range, depending upon wind direction and speed,
difficult to predict more than a couple of weeks in advance.

The weather in the South of England at the moment is positively beautiful, haven't had rain in over a week and temperatures are in the mid 20's C. Seriously it's been a glorious spring so far. It feels more like June than April. However British weather being British weather who knows how long it will last, still it shows no sign of abaiting so far.

I expect a scorching summer.

Sorry you're from England right?;) :)

Lol at that you tube clip: it's April what do you expect :)

Reminds me of Radio 4's weather, er the weather today - looks out of the window - it's raining.

Good god, I just realized I apparently don't speak a single word of English...

If you pop over to France they will probably tell you that you don't speak French either. ;)

Im freaked with the weather. Everyday with my shirt off. The garden has skipped spring and gone streight for summer. Rough winds may have shaken the darling buds of may back in the day, but this year the darling buds had there thing done in March or early April. The April showers were the end of Feb and the start of March.

Its all gone to hell in a handbasket I tells ya, and Im taking out a subscription to The Daily Mail :old:

What a stereotype! It doesn't rain all day in England. Sometimes it snows.

And it doesn"t rain that often either. Onlye 3 times a year. Once during 6 months, and twice during 3 months.
