I made this for the revamp of the Rood and the Dragon, and I thought I might as well post it here in case anyone else has a use for it.

Looks great, Plotinus! Nice work on the textures!:goodjob:

did the picts have such a large nose, or was it thinner....but overall seems good to me, are there any explications among the wartatoos plotinus has chosen ??

Maybe Brude had a large nose.

I think his tattoos are more than reasonable. To the best of our knowledge, the Picts were tattoo'd with woad.

I really like this leaderhead.

Under the heading of constructive criticism - I like the leaderhead, and don't make leaderheads myself, so don't assume that I'm in any way critical of your fine work,

but,

wouldn't actual tattoos be much lighter and a bit more diffuse, unless they were fresh? I am, unfortunately, surrounded by tattooed people often - going to the store in my neighborhood is like visiting the circus, sometimes - and I can tell you that homemade tattoos are sometimes so diffuse that you can't tell what it was that they were trying to draw....

Sorry about the missing file. I do have one so I will add it to the download as soon as I can. In the meantime, people can either use The Guardian's or get the original from the Rood scenario, which certainly should contain it.

On the question of the character's appearance, no-one actually knows what the Picts looked like. There is a general assumption that they were not unlike the Celts, which is why he has dark hair and light eyes, but this is really just speculation. It's not even known whether they had tattoos or used war paint, or both (note that "Pict" just comes from the Latin pingere, to paint). I assumed paint because it would be clearer to see, and I just doodled the designs myself until I thought they looked decent.

Looks fine to me Plotinus. I am using it in my new Roma (WIP) MOD.
As you mentioned, there is no historical record that I know of that gives a definitive description of the picts. I would agree that in all likelihood their appearence was painted rather than tattooed.
