[BtS] DIPLOMACY: a mod for Diplogames!

City list progress report: finished checking German, Greek and Inca city names. Didn't change anything for the Germans, only added a few Holy Roman cities (that were removed from the German list by Firaxis) and two Bavarian cities in the end of the list. The Greeks got two new cities too. The Inca were almost completely redone, many cities were removed and replaced by others.
Now working on India. I think they have the longest city list in the game (it is even longer than my Russian city list)!

Anywhere else to download this? The filefront link seems to have snuffed it.

Yeah, I think this is like the third time FileFront dropped the files. There was nothing wrong with them, I just think FileFront went through some management changes and for whatever reason has been dropping files randomly (no e-mail about it, no problem with the files what-so-ever, they just disappear). I have to reupload everything anyway because TAdF is supposed to work on some LH personalities for me so he has to get all of the modules. I am going to try and get around to it as soon as I can but it takes a few hours to upload all of this stuff and as of late my time has been extremely limited (which is why I haven't come out with a leaderhead myself in quite a while, well that is also because I need to relearn Blender, but you get the point).

Just so you know though, the mod is only compatible with 3.17 (at least that is what I have been told, I haven't actually tried it yet myself on 3.19) so if you have already upgraded it may not work for you. I'll send out some PMs to people who has asked for this mod so they know its back up when its ready, and obviously I'll let everyone know who has been helping me (Igor, TAdF, Madman etc.)

Awesome, good to hear. I have been busy all week so I haven't had much time to add any new flavors. Although I did manage to slip in the Maya the other day and I hadn't seen Bakuel's Mayan set in action up to this point and it looks really awesome! I'm really looking forward to this mod when it is finished, it should be a lot better (and run a lot smoother) than its predecessor.

Capo, why don't you just go to the beginning of Ekmek's tutorial thread and upload the old Blender? He put a link there.

I did actually consider that, but I think its worth learning the new Blender. Its a lot easier to work with (because you can see the textures in DDS format in Blender now, which you couldn't before) as far as knowing what the LH is going to look like before going into NifSkope, which was not entirely the case with the older Blender. Also some of the nifs wouldn't import for me in the old Blender, and I haven't had an issue with that yet (which includes units, and I've always wanted to learn unit-making, not really to take requests, but to create units I need for my mod and new civs, it will open the door up for me to make flavored units for any civ).

Plus I might as well learn the latest version so I can help new LH makers. We always need more LH makers because it gives you new ideas, and I have actually taken a lot more from simply looking at another person's LH than I have doing them on my own, I can see new "techniques" that I want to bring to my LHs to make them look better, or any time someone creatively uses some other part for something In ever thought of. So having a bunch of LH makers, no matter how novice they are, is helpful to everyone that maeks LHs.

Honestly, I had a lot of trouble learning Blender to begin with, and I'm only getting frustrated because I don't have as much time to learn it this time as I did then, however, I should learn this relatively quickly, and I do already have a grasp and comfort level with Blender, so I wouldn't worry about me too much. Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere, there are plenty of Capo LHs in everyone's future! :goodjob:

A really good up and coming LH-maker (Texpatriate) is making an Oliver Cromwell LH. I was just wondering if you thought that'd be better than Henry as the fourth leader for England. I took at look at the model and it looked pretty good, I also have a few ideas for him to improve it so I'll make sure its up to my standards!

I wanted to give a very small preview of what I have in store for England's ancient era units. As you may or may not know, I have decided to go with Ancient Briton units (i.e. pre-Roman) for their set. They will have a Celtic look, but will be quite different from the Celtic set I am using (which is more Gallic really, they are Bakuel's units). To show you exactly what I am talking about I have provided this screen shot. Keep in mind there are plenty of different models (this mod will be heavy on "mixed" units, where there will be three different models for many units, here are simple previews of just one per), for instance the Kluddargos unit will appear as the "officer" (center unit) for both the Axeman and Swordsman sets.

Each of the other two swordsman and axeman will have different appearances which will, hopefully, make the game look a lot more interesting and will emulate the non-uniformed armies of these ancient units. There will also be a chariot and spearman, but I haven't finalized how they will look quite yet. Part of the purpose of this is for scenarios; I plan on having a few simple ones in the deluxe edition. Imagine a Roman scenario where you have to conquer both the Gallic Celts and the Briton Celts (who will use England as their base civ). Another reason I decided to go with these units is because they are Chuggi's models (well, with some retexturing of course), and Chuggi has been gone for a while but these units look so good they have to find a home somewhere, I hope you guys like them...

I think Henry is better than Cromwell. Although, you, being Irish, would never pass up the chance to kick Cromwell's ass. West of the river Shannon, my mother!

LOL; Madman definitely knows me more than I realized, I almost booed him for making a Cromwell LH, but its actually a really good model (from what I can tell so far) and if I just had my way with it a bit I think it'd be a really good leaderhead.

Yeah, I think I'll leave him out and if I ever get around to making that "extra leaders" patch (that gives some civs more than the four I am limiting them to) I'll certainly put him in. So Henry is going to stay for now, but Cromwell will certainly be considered for the extra leaders patch, but as with most things for this mod that isn't going to be done for quite some time.

Any gripes about my plan to use ancient, pre-Roman, Briton units for ancient England?

EDIT: When I get the Deluxe edition out I might just have to throw Cromwell and "King Billy" in there and beat down on em for a bit!

Another progress report: finished working on Japan, Mali, Mongolia and Persia! You can congratulate the first three with getting new cities on their lists. Persia, on the other hand, had it's list shortened because of province names, cities appearing twice under different names and cities that probably didn't even exist.
I'll posts the new lists as soon as they are finished. I tell you in advance that they will include Holy Rome and Native America, but I can make city lists for the Franks and other new civs you created after I'm done. Just tell me what civs are we talking about.

Holy Rome isn't in the mod. It's the Franks themselves.

Native America is split up as well.

Yeah, its only the Franks, so try and keep it in that area. I guess use archaic names whenever there is overlap in Germany and France.

The Native Americans are split into Sioux and Iroquios. If you need a base city list I can post the ones I used for the last mod.

Apache too.

Suppose we'll see any more native civs? I know you're doing an inuit LH, and I'd at least like to see the Cherokee added.

This is exactly what I said- I know that you don't really need Holy Roman and Native American city lists, but since I will upload my files these two civs will be there. What I said is I'll do the Franks and Iroquois and Sioux after I'm finished and post them here separately.

Just out of curiosity, how will you determine Sioux and Iroquois city names (since they never really had cities) ?

The Sioux capital should most definitely be Little Bighorn. Wounded Knee should be in their city list too.

Civ III has an Iroquois city list.

As for the Native civs, DF, there's going to be a Native Module pack. The Arawaks, Cherokee, Tupi, Inuit and Mapuche are going in.

I'm still unable to download this from filefront, should I just wait for the next version or will that be a while? Thanks very much again.

I have answered this question like five times already.

I can upload it, but in order for me to do that I need three to four hours of free time. Which I have not had in a long time, I have to upload this stuff eventually and I will PM you when I do this.

BUT, if you have already upgraded to 3.19 there is NO POINT for you to download the original mod because it won't work.

And yes the next version will be a while, although it depends on what you consider a long time of course. I'm hoping to have it finished in a couple of months.
