Bts "DUNE WARS" {Development Thread}

The screenshot does not do it justice. It is the same size I think. I am not sure.

If you see it in game it helps if you have not. But really don't care one way or the other about the flag. I just think it looks more futuristic.

What is used in the Dune Universe for flags? I mean would they ever be projected?

In the Dune book, they use regular flags.

BTW, thank you very much for creating the building atlas for us.
 
Just a note before I forgot to mention it. If you guys use the FF routes the normal routes will not work from BTS Assets. I raised all of the ones in the file with NIFSkope to be above the water plane. Normally that do not sit on top of the terrain.

I guess the next thing would for me to look around for corporation art. Any suggested site to look for symbols for them?

I'll tell you what, I'll do the corporation art--and then you can stylize it however you want.

What I need right now is for the flags to be done-I tried but I can't figure it out. If you could do the flags for the civopedia/gameplay that would be great.
There were some civs and leaders missing and I added leaders--so I'll give you the files when I finish them--I should be finished in about
2-3 hours. When you do the flags, please use default flag graphics.
 
Keldath said something about doing the flags. Nevermind just read it again. I thought he was doing them sorry. I can give them a try but not familiar with what the houses are suppose to have color wise or the symbols. Well pretty much I know nothing about them.:lol:

Here is something I found for a stillsuit. If I did on some particular background and blend it in better do you think it would work?
 
Leave the stillsuit as it is.
In about an hour or less I will give you the files for all the leaders and civs and their flags.
I'll make it clear for you.
After that I'll do the corporation art and then you can do whatever you want with them.

The flags however, do not change anything for them please.
 
Dude I was never going to change the flags. That was a global interface effect. It has nothing to with the color or size of the flag.

I am going to sleep now anyway. It is 11:20PM here. I try maybe to tomorrow to mess with them.
 
hey guys,

well, i can do the flags ( ithink), all i need is the symbols as dds files and ill do the rest (never yet did a flag , but i think i can).

Ive been busting my *** for 6 hours now straight, i just can get a decent look map script, i dont like the all terrain map, cause it wouldn't be a fun p[lay i think,
so as a desperate measure,

i have decided to make land units, and sea units, without the all terrain units (except hornets - the ai seem to do use them),
so i made the hovers as ship like - they can move only on sand sea now,
and the rest are land units.
the carryalls, and transports, are sea based aswell - so the ai would transport units accross sand sea (if i make a transport as a land unit - the ai ont move units with it across land.....

its not what i wanted for the mod, but its the only way to be able to play with sand sea and pcean effect,
its still fun, but , carryalls , highliners and transports, wont be able to go over land....

unless melinko will be back here to write a decent transport all terrain code or somthing with the sand sea terrain,

we have to use the usuall unit system,
well, you know guys,...its still fun :)

ill add some more sea units - like more hoover types so there will be more diversity for sea(sand sea) units for first version.

keep up the good work guys,
i cant wait to release this mod already and see people response to it :))

Changed AI personality reflecting their character in the books/film
Changed Languages that best suit the civ
Changed game-play color

Very nice, although shouldn't all but the fremen be speaking the same language, Galach? I've viewed it as an ango-germanic-slavic hybrid, alot like Esperanto. Would you be opposed if I were to use some of the leaderheads in the mod ive been working on?

The Fremen speak persian
The Sietch Tibr Fremen speak sumerian

Slavic-anglo? Their languagee is heavily middle eastern derived. And they are mostly middle eastern ancestry

Fremen are clearly a middle eastern hybrid. As to their dialects, I'm sure that even though Egyptians and Saudis speak different versions of Arabic, they should be able to understand each other. I'm no expert on the middle east, so if I'm wrong please correct me.

I made the Imperium speak German (Holy Rome)

As to dialects - There are many different languages in the middle east.
Egyptian dialect is very different from Saudi Arabic.
Someone speaking Lebanese Arabic could understand someone speaking Syrian Arabic.
But Lebanese probably could not understand Saudi arabic for the most part.
Same with Egyptian Arabic and Saudi.

Sumerian and Persian (farsi) are languages that are similar to each other.
That's why I chose them.

The flags of the countries do not reflect what language I chose btw,
I made Bene Gesserit language to be celtic even though their flag is zulu.
Actually none of the flags reflect the language I chose except Atreides.
 
Thats fine, you evidently know more about the ME than I do. I was jsut wondering.
