I would like to vote for option A as well, since that would be thematically consistent with other similar civs, like Rome being Rome, yet having Mussolini. If a modernish Mexican leader can be added as well, that would be splendid, though of course it is subject to your whims and the availability of resources to add another leader.

I don't know why logically, but I just think Aztecs and Romans make more sense then Italians and Mexicans. Also, really looking forward to motorized infantry. Means I can rename infantry to squad_infantry and round out the Industrial to modern era.

Option A, if only to keep Monty in the game! Seriously, what fun would it be to never have Monty appearing and causing any continent he's on to erupt in war for centuries. Besides the Aztecs are one of the most fun civs to play as with agressive and those wonderful sacraficial alters...

Option A would be good, with the emblem on the modern Mexican flag serving as the flag for the civ. The emblem of an eagle eating a snake is based off of Aztec mythology anyway. And I agree with adding a Mexican leader in the mix. It'd make as much sense as having Mussolini for the Romans anyway.

In history, Mexico is the name of the Spanish vassal/colonial state (which later achieved independence). In the game, this will hardly ever be the case.

Now, if it's true they called themselves Mexica, that's a possibly complicating factor. Regardless, history calls them Aztecs so we should probably stick with that.

I have no problem with them eventually turning into Mexicans, but keep them Aztec in name/origin.

I vote "A" for Aztecs. and keep the old flag. I too prefer the flags that are more cultural (the dragon on china's flag, a single star on the Americans) The modern "actual" flags bother me for some reason during the ancient period. Just wierd seeing English swordsmand running around with the union jack.
