[BtS MOD] Wolfshanze 1850-1920 Enhancement Mod v2.0

Killmeplease:

Hi. I have a small problem with new graphics. At my work computer, unit and building icons are blurry, but the ones from original BTS are ok. How to fix it?

I think this has to do with your graphic settings. If you use low quality then some buttons are blurry and small. On high quality they appear normal. It has something to do with mipmaps or so.

Here's more info from OzzyKP: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=268684

Hope this is helpfull...

Yeah, that's probably it too...

Available for download now... Wolfshanze Mod v2.72...
as usual, see page-1 for the new download

Still trying to squash any and all bugs... from most reports the new custom gamecore DLL I offered recently as an add-on seems to work better with the mod then the default Civ4 gamecore DLL, so I'm reverting back to this new custom DLL as standard with the mod.

This release is mostly two-fold... one to standardize the DLL back into the mod for stability reasons, and secondly to add-in the many new units, models, music and movies I have been busy with the past few weeks since the last update.

As for backwards/save-game compatibility... it both is and isn't compatible with v2.7x saved games... it all depends... if you STARTED a game with the NEW custom gamecore DLL (recently released a week ago), this release IS COMPATIBLE with those saved games... if you are/were playing v2.7x standard games (without the new custom gamecore DLL), it's NOT COMPATIBLE with those saved games. If you're playing any v2.6x saves... well, then you're really out of luck! You'll just have to start a new game!

Specific enhancements to this release I'm really happy/proud of (besides bug squashing) include new movies for all national wonders, custom music for the Austrian civ... both leaders now (it's really fitting if you ask me), and a new custom Asian Medieval Warlord. Also Explorers can now attack (don't get excited, their still really weak fighters), so it helps with exploring new barbarian-filled lands, and there has been some tweaking to WWI units... specifically MGs are now tougher vs older units (like Cavalry), but are now even more vulnerable to Early Tanks... rock-paper-scissors sort of thing. Lots of new units of course, and a big boost to Polish flavor units... well... here's the complete list... enjoy!

so back to your original question... yes and no... for now I'll probably make your latest DLL the default Wolfshanze Mod DLL and see how it goes from there. Going back to the default Civ4 DLL seemed to cause more problems then it solved.
Well, I'll be here if you want any SDK changes. I've been playing with some of Dale's Combat Mod stuff (air missions, ranged bombard) without any problems, and the AI uses the ranged bombard, if not always effectively. Don't know about the air missions yet, though. I've already got Air Superiority and the closest guy to me tech-wise is just finishing Physics. They spent too much time going to war with each other, while I played nice and only came in only to help clean up an already defeated civ. It also helps when you get to a religion early and aggressively spread it.
I'd like to suggest a couple of units you could add; for early siege equipment, you could have the battering ram (available at wheel) and siege quinquereme. I gave the ram a combat of one and allowed it to reduce city defense by 4%, but not any collateral damage. The quinquereme I made available with Iron Working and Metal Casting, gave it combat of two, movement of one, and the ability to reduce city defense by 4%. Again, it can't do collateral damage. The bombard would also make a good addition, as you can set cannons to be the partner of riflemen (requiring rifling to use) and have bombards available as soon as you get gunpowder.

Love to see these.

As it should be.

I dunno about the quinquereme, but I really do like the idea of the battering ram that doesn't do collateral damage... having to wait for mathematics can be a real bummer to early war mongers.

I think it's safe to say one could expect a battering ram in the next update (there's already a graphic, right?).

Glad to see that you include some of my skins in your last update :)

If you need another reskin, you know that you can ask me ;)

Unfortunately for me I won't be able to try 2.72 much (if it all) because I'll be gone for two months in about a week. By the time I'm back it'll probably be past 2.72 anyway.

Battering ram sounds nice. Does the AI know how to use the Air Missions from Dale's mod effectively? That would be something nice to have to make aircraft more realistic and useful.

Privateers are lacking hidden nationality (or French at least), yet it still stays in the pedia that they have hidden nationality. An example is, one of my ships was attacked by a privateer and it said something like "ship attacked by French Privateer". France didn't declare war when doing that attack but there does seem to be a problem with hidden nationality. This happened on 2.71, maybe you already got that fixed.

Hey Wolf,

I haven't used the brits in a while, but have you included GeneralMatt's Town Class cruiser as their heavy cruiser skin? Oh and any plans to incorporate that Tribal Class destroyer in the future, would prolly be a good fit for England, India and maybe even Egypt.

Cheers to you Wolf for all your fine work!

Can't tell you anything about that... I've never once messed with anything having to do with Privateers... it's either a default game issue, or it's a Bhruic patch issue (since I am using Bhruic's patch... unless you noticed that in "default" 2.7x without the new DLL, then it's definitely a default game problem).

Glad to see that you include some of my skins in your last update :)

Yes, indeed I did... although it's all the "non-MiG-21" reskins that I used of yours... on the MiG-21, I actually used all of Snafu's MiG-21 skins... not because I chose his over yours based on looks... but rather because I'm very lazy, and I already had his MiG-21 skins on my computer (but never realized it)... so it just saved me the trouble of downloading your MiG-21 skins. :dunno:

Maybe when I'm bored some time, I'll do a head-to-head comparison of your MiG-21 skins to Snafu's MiG-21 skins and see which I like (or even if I can tell a significant difference).

On skin requests... sure... I can always think of new skins I'd like to see... maybe some new "Green" skins for the A6M Zero and P-38 Fighter (speaking of the P-38, it's the first "official" addition to Wolfshanze Mod v2.73... certainly not pending a release date in the near future... I need more then one model for that!).

Yep, a pretty good one too. I don't remember what mod it was in, but I can send it to you along with the XML code I use.

Lol, this is Wolf we're talking about. Of course he is. Everyone just tends to release their stuff hours after he's posted the latest version.

I'm using the same DLL as you with the addition of some of Dale's stuff, and I don't have that problem.

Town Class Cruiser? When did Matt do one of those? Somebody is holding out on me...

But anyways, I try and avoid using any Light Cruisers in my mod if possible (and the Town Class Cruisers were English Light Cruisers)... I am, however, using Matt's County class Heavy Cruiser model for England... though it is possible I added it to the mod and forgot to mention it in the "new models" section. It has actually been in use at least since v2.70 (if not sooner).

I sometimes release my mod just to get people off their duff... seems nobody wants to post anything new until an hour or two after I release my mod.

On a side-note... I did release some new "never before seen" reskin jobs in this release... namely some "quick" repaints I did on the following:
Austrian Chariot
Austrian Longbowman
German Chariot
German Longbowman
Portuguese Rifleman
Spanish Rifleman

All the above are reskins... mostly just minor recoloring jobs, so I didn't make a big issue of them or post them in the units section, but if anyone is interested, those are "all-new" reskins, never before released (the Austrian units are based on the earlier "Yellow German" units, but now have a new Hapsburg Eagle on the chest... the German units are based on the "Yellow German" units, but recolored red... the Portugese and Spanish Rifleman are based on the default Rifleman unit but repainted green and white respectively.

Whoops, my mistake, got the Town's and County's confused, not really easy looking at them  I hadn't noticed a mention of them in any of the update threads. Oh well I guess, I'll have to play yet another game as the English . . .:D

It was with the new dll. It probably is Bhruic's patch, I didn't notice it happening in plain 3.13.

Yeah... it was a quick-fix by me... probably needs a bit of a touch-up (the original green zero didn't even have full meatballs... I just filled-in the "O". Dunno... not a huge issue, but I think I left a black outline on the thing... probably needs cleaning up.

I'll check out the 2.72 as soon as this game wraps up, but as far as my 2.71 CTDs, I have figured out that it always when some nation wants to talk to me. I hear the music for the nation, about 5 notes and crash. Once it happened with Sulieman, not sure on the others, but they sounded far eastern. Which would make sense as the game I tried to play as India crashed way earlier than any previous game. Could it be sound 'card' drivers?

Are you using "default" 2.7x or are you using the new custom DLL? If it's the latter, you can upgrade to 2.72 now... if it's the former, then yeah, you need to finish it before upgrading.
