First of all...AWESOME Mod!!
The addition of the extra naval units makes naval warfare interesting again. Thanks for all of your (and everyone else's involved) time and effort to make such a fantastic upgrade to the basic game. It's like going from regular, over-the-air TV to cable......so many new units....everything shiny and cool....sensory overload!

I've been reading through previous posts and I noticed there's been some suggestions for adding culturally specific building styles (flavor buildings I guess) like those found in the Ethnically Diverse Units mod. Is there any chance of this happening?

Right now I'm stuck with the dilemma of either playing your mod (better units, way better navies and airforces) or playing with the EDU mod for the flavor buildings so every civ city doesn't look european.

Or if anyone here has successfully "merged" these 2 fantastic mods into one uber-mod and can share that information I would be eternally grateful!

The Wolfshanze mod has VERY diverse civs... each civ has extensive custom units... I have not done any custom buildings, but BtS itself does offer some diverse city sets (Asian cities are differant from European cities).

Frankly, I hardly ever notice cities in and of themselves... usually the units in them draw my attention much more, and they are certainly ethnically diverse in this mod.

I'm also planning on dumping a ton of new custom units and about three more custom civ leaders into my next version, which is due-out any time now.

You could also take a look at some other mods out there which use the citysets.
Mine uses many similar ship types to Wolfshanzes (I do not go with the slow heavy and light fast differentiation for the early ships though, I have one which falls in between the two) and has the cityset art (along with lots of diverse units) or mayby Varietas Delectat with its Modern Expansion (not sure what naval types he has though), which is similar to mine again.

Compatible with Wolfshanze mod v2.6x saved games in theory.
I.. don't think it is. I updated straight from v2.66, and Civ freezes when it's halfway done loading.

.. Which brings up the issue of Civ itself freezing even if I try starting up a new game, at least when this mod is loaded. I'm not sure what's wrong... Sure, my graphics card isn't good enough for Civ, but it's never failed me before the 6th-hour-straight-of-playing.

I checked the xml that I've changed with regards to barbarian exp limits and the number of exp after upgrading a unit, and that stuff is fine. =\

I'm running Windows XP on an Alienware Sentia... something or other. I dunno. There's been no changes to my computer besides the downloading of Portal (which coincidentally doesn't work either), but that shouldn't change things. :<

Should I bother doing a reinstall to see if it'll help, or...?

There's almost nothing differant from v2.66 to v2.68, other then some units with new graphics (which won't mess with saved games). In fact, I'm still playing a saved game I started with v2.60!!!

Many of the crash-related problems can be attributed to system specs, as my mod isn't the friendliest to borderline systems (this mod does take more horsepower to run then the default Civ4).

Also, I plan on releasing a new update later today (also compatible with previous saved games in theory), so you might want to wait for that.

So no 2.7 yet?

Is this going to include the hidden secret you talked about a month ago?

No... unfortunately the "hidden secret" is still pending.

I've been working (real-life) so long and hard, I've had no time for fun! I have a GREAT game in-progress and really want to finish it before I start messing with a few things, which includes my little "hidden secret unit". Don't fear though, I've got the "next big release" pretty much ready to go... I could probably release it within an hour or two of deciding to do so, but I ain't going to do it till I get around to starting a new game!

Available for download now... Wolfshanze Mod v2.69...

Still holding-back on gameplay changes for a later update... this covers all the 100,000 or so new graphic models/skins that came-out in the past month since my last update... so consider it a graphical update... not much changed in gameplay... it's just a lot "prettier". Note this includes a lot of new units I've been wanting to see, such as Smitty's last packs, the Martin B-10, my own debut of new units (German Warlord and some custom tank reskins) and a few new Leaderheads I've been wanting to add... plus, by releasing this now, it should cause a lot more new custom models to be released on the site (never fails).

Still compatible with all v2.6x saved-games.

Wolfshanze 2.69 crash (crashed in game; game crashes immediatelly during loading this autosave too). I have done nothing special, CtD happened during automated part of turn (either was it beginning of my turn or turn of my opponents).

Sending me an unstable save game doesn't do me any good for playtesting if I can't get it to load. Some save-game files do get corrupted... did you try restoring from a previous save game? Does the game always crash at the same time/place/moment/event, or does it crash randomly?

Hey Wolf

Any plans to use the Leo2 as the Viking MBT? I just noticed the M/41, good effort!

Unfortunately, I do not have any other save, old autosaves got rewritten meanwhile. I will try again next time.

I have not experienced problems on this end with buggy-ness, but anyone who is experiencing problems, I seriously suggest playing the mod without the CvGameCoreDLL.DLL in the Assets folder and keeping the game at 18-civs or lower... that should eliminate any and all issues with instability if you are experiencing difficulty.

On a side note, I'd like to hear from anyone NOT having problems with recent versions of the mod... if you can start and finish a game using v2.68 or v2.69, I'd like to hear from you. I am have not been able to track down any crash-bugs caused by my XML or Graphics add-ons, so I must assume the problems are coming from outside my control (the DLL).

I'm beginning to think about having future versions of the mod ship without the GameCore.DLL as the standard version and perhaps offer an add-on pack for those wanting to try with more then 18-civs.

Wolf can i simply delete that file to play without it?
YES... the GameCore.DLL included with the Wolfshanze mod is NOT needed to play... its primary purpose is to support 18+ civ games (which would include the two earth maps with the mod).

If you just want to play random seeded maps with 18 or fewer civs, you can play the mod without that GameCoreDLL which I suspect may be the source of the problem(s).

There's one MINOR thing you may want to change (though you don't have to), I instituted a Fallout Global Warming occurance in the game (instead of desert) but it needs that GamecoreDLL to function... you can play without changing this, but I recommend doing this to ensure 100% compliance with "the old way". To deactivate the new form of global warming and go back to desert warming, open the Wolfshanze Mod GlobalDefines.xml file in notepad. Find the GLOBAL_WARMING_PROB value and change the value to "20". The current setting of "120" is tied to the Wolfshanze-GameCoreDLL for fallout instead of desert changes, so change it back to "20" if you remove the DLL.

If you delete the GameCoreDLL, you'll probably have to start a new game from scratch... but it should be 100% stable once you've done that... if it's NOT stable after deleting the gamecore, then it's definately something I did, and definately something that's fixable.

Hello

I sent you a saved game a while ago and reported unknown CTD's when playing your otherwise excellent mod.

This is a screen grab of the error that I get each and every time it happens.....

image2zr2.jpg

It will happen when played using Vista or in XP.

I will try again without the GameCore.DLL file.

Edit: - I guess that I can no longer load my previous saved game when I remove that file, I would imagine that I would have to start a new one as it fails to load.

I wonder if that explains why your mod will CTD and yet I can play the VD mod or vanilla BTS with absolutely no CTD's...?

It might Morgan... try a new game without the GameCoreDLL and see how it goes... I'd hate to "nuke it" officially... but it's the only part of the mod out of my control... and I'm sure of all the XML work I do is top-notch.

I may revert to the "non-GameCoreDLL" as the official version of the Wolfshanze Mod... though it will mean giving-up 18+ civ gaming and the nuclear fallout option, it may very well make the mod as stable as vanilla Civ4.

It appears from your screen shot that you have not patched your BTS to 3.13...But perhaps I am wrong.
