[BtS] Rise of Mankind 2

@Turk, if memory serves you said you use Vuze, as do I. When I successfully downloaded and installed the mod it asked what program I wanted to use to open the link and I selected azures from the "choose" box directory. It worked fine for me, and I hope it works for you as well. If you've done this already -- sorry for wasting your time, if not, try it -- you may like the results.

Thanks Seamus75, and yes I have downloaded uTorrent files through Vuze in the past as well. The problem is (and I've uesd Google Chrome AND Opera), is that whenever I click on the Rise of Mankind 2.92 Torrent (on the first page of this thread), it opens up a blank, untitled page, and nothing happens! Its so strange!

Hi guys
I recently installed RoM mod, and it's been working fine except for Ranged Bombardment. The icon is there, but it does nothing at all - I click it, get description displayed (both Bombard and Ranged Bombardment have hotkeys set to B), click the target and then nothing happens - it acts in 100% the same way as if I canceled the action.

I couldn't find any useful info about this problem. I also tried changing DCM_RANGE_BOMBARD in XML file, but then after loading the save game it's still the same - it refuses to work. Please, help.

I think this is one of those problems which crept in with the version of RevDCM that RoM uses. Along with the Choose/Limited religion problem. When a newer version gets merged into RoM I would expect these problems to go.

For those having download problems: I was having the same problem (I think) using uTorrent. It would take the magnet link then never actually get any peers to download the actual .torrent file. The cause was having DHT disabled completely.

Since uTorrent allows you to enable DHT and then only allow it per torrent and not automatically for all torrents that are added, I enabled it and then it downloaded fine. (Except for not asking me where to put the downloaded files)

wait wait wait....
So how do you get uTorrent to install RoM via Vuze and other applications?

First of all thank you for the Rise of Mankind mod. I downloaded it a few days ago and I was struck with awe. It is absolutely gorgeous. I love it. It enhances the Civilization experience in ways never reached before. It's so great. It is complex, complete, completely addictive :) Now I'm not so impatient to see Civilization V on shelves. I've got, oh, plenty other tasks to achieve :D

Two questions I need to ask :

* Is there a RoM launch shortcut to put on my desktop so as not to have to launch BtS every time I want to play ? I feel like I will never play BtS anymore, btw.

* When I tick options in the Debug screen it doesn't save my choices (I want spy missions and jet fighters' and the holy city relocation options). I mean it keeps the options saved during each session but every time I reload they're gone and I have to tick them again.

Other than that, sometimes the game will crash or freeze but once you took the habit of saving every few turns it really is a minor nuisance. Also something weird: loading a game will make the game crash (memory allocation failure) once every two times exactly! Anyway all of that does not alter the greatness of the game. It is absolutely joyful. I can't praise it enough, it is so awesome, it is what I always wanted my civ games to be: challenging, sometimes frustrating (damn you instability!) but always sooooo enjoyable. I can't wait to reach futuristic eras.

Is there a 3.0 version coming up? Do you recommend the RoM: A New Dawn add-on?

I put a shortcut on my desktop to the saves folder. The path to the saves file looks like this on my puter "C:\Users\myname\Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\Saves\single" When the shortcut opens I just double click the latest save game in "single". RoM launches with your game ready to play. Also, if you experience a MAF  and have forgotten to save in a while , you can also access the auto-saves. Hope this helps.

A New Dawn (AND) is awesome. Get it.

Save twice and then load the game. Don't know why this works but it does make the options stick.

RoM 2.95 (or 2.93) is due soonish with 3.0 a bit later. Or at least that is what I read on the forums see post.

Sweet. Thanks to both of you for your swift replies. I'll try what you say. Also I'm definitely getting AND.

Thanks!

I believe is a known issue, that should've be supposedly solved by deactivating Limited religions and Choose religions on DCM screen.

But i double checked that both boxed are deactivated, i'm still getting 2 religions for 1 tech.

That's for something that could be a bug, but i've been thinking on a little addition. Currently builiding a mine gives a small chance of getting a valuable: copper, iron, lead, gold, silver... even uranium. Each hill is an oportunity, so i wonder if something similar can be done with flood plains.

Flood plains can be irrigated for a small chance of getting food. Why not allowing also to build a quarry and a small chance of getting stone, marble or obsidian.

I also guess as marble and obsidian are just types of stone; the original stone can be divides in other types: limestone, granite, soapstone, alabaster and sandstone. Same variety as with metals.

i guess i just found a bug in MP Settings

If u activate the options "no techtrading" and "no techdiffusion" the game just ignores it in MP. Its fine in SP but in MP its ignoring it and its always on...

i dunno actually why but its a bit ridiculous if ya wanna play without TT...

Hm I'm stuck in my game!
I've got to 20AD and when I click next turn, it plays through the AI's and then just sits there doing nothing with the globe as a cursor.
I can't play on, but can still click some menu's and stuff. Nothing seems to make it continue.
I reloaded 3 times now, and did things differently, but it does the same every time.

I don't know if it's the mod or just civ in general that's at fault here.
I'm using 2.92 on 3.19.

Would anyone mind trying my savegame (below)? If it does work, maybe you could save it on the next turn and send me it?
Was really enjoying this game =(

Noticable tech problem:

As posted before, an amazing mod that I've been playing since the origins. Recently, in a few games on 2.92 with AND I've notice irregularities with AI's research ability. They seem to acquire techs out of thin air (not diffusion of old useless ones). In previous versions of ROM and AND I was able to lead quite easily in noble or Monarch, but now struggling to get a lead in Noble !! Can't find any reference to this in version notes or forums. :(

In my current game I've reached the Industrial tech or a bit further stage and am being out teched by the leading AI and his vassals. Fare enough, so I sent spies around to check his territory. I rarely came across a village or town. Almost every AI city is mines, farms, and industrial plants. Even it's capital city is half the tech output as my capital. How can I possibly be out teched when the AI is generating no revenue (so not reasearch). I've attached the latest save, so if anyone can help explain this I'd be grateful.
Cheers

I promise that the AI isn't cheating and getting free techs. You can confirm this yourself. Turn on cheatcodes, then use CONTROL-ALT-L to change to other civs.

Thanks for the reply Afforess :)

It's not that I think the AI is cheating (it's a computer haha) I was just wondering if certain features in ROM or AND cause the AI to get advantages in tech research based on well I'm doing. I just can't see how it can generate enough research based on their terrain improvements.

Could that AI be using things like Feudal and another one, you can get farms to give you a lot of extra food and gold. You also get huge populations and loads of specialists this way.
An AI in my game actually WON (wow I've never seen an AI win) by having farms everywhere around every city. He was out teching me, and won a conquer victory, I just couldn't stop him.

ctrl-alt-z ;)

Okay I am trying to get A New Dawn to work, but I cannot get 2.92 ROM ? It will not work with 2.91.
The only download link that works is 2.91, and I use torrents all the time, but I cannot get nothing from this link.
Cant you just host it on IsoHunt or something simple, all the other versions are there except for 2.92 ?
Is there a patch from 2.91 to 2.92 ?
Thanks for your time.

EDIT : found a regular link for the 2.92 download. Man there are so many different pages with links to other pages that have links to the downloads, I just used it and am currently downloading it, so we'll see how it goes.
I noticed that my first 'installation' was bogus as I must not have extracted the data from the rar properly as there was a bunch missing from the mods folder, I think when I get 92 it'll go a bit smoother.

Anyone online that can help me!!!
I have spent 2 1/2 hours downloading 2.92 and it says "Windows cannot open this file" when I click on it to try and move it to the Mod folder?????
