[BTS] The History of Three Kingdoms

Wow, that's quite a patch! I have but one question: shouldn't sharpsooting be about picking a specific target rather than 'bombarding' x miles?

Dang it! Just as I get a great Ma Teng game going, you come out with another amazing patch! Well, it's great to see those defence promotions looking useful now... finally Taishi Ci can do something!

*downloads it* I'm very curious. Btw the sound addon packs. Is it normal that one folder under assets is now sound and the other sounds?

:cry:No, no, that's unusual!

Both folder should be 'Sounds'! Could you tell me which part of the music pack has a bad folder name? I may have to reupload it...

Odd the folders in the zip's are correctly named. What i did notice was a frequent error message while browing the second zip. Though the files inside seem intact.

When in game, do leader diplomacy music works? If they do, then everything is just fine.

Those error messages may come from Chinese Characters from soundtrack author names.

If it's a very serene song that ends up picking up pace suddenly with a bit of flutelike music... then yep it works.

And yeah i suspected the odd characters might be causing probs.

What were your sources for the music? I see some of Koei's music and other stuff that sounds like Luo Tian Ping's works.

Damn, this looks . .. .. .. .ing amazing! I am going to have to play this soon, too bad I'm a modder, I only ever have time to play(test) the mod I'm working on.

I'll have to set some time aside for this, looks great.

Thanks! I have to admit we did a great job.:D However, we will release an even better version in a week or two, so if you are really busy right now, that could be a good thing.

martin could u please kindly tell us what new things are there in this great mod in the next update coming in the 2 weeks or so.

Bug fixes, new graphics, improved AI, balance tweaks, all the usual stuff.:D

But...
Spoiler :
We will introduce a new scenario!
Our Mod will run at more than twice the speed!
We will introduce about 40 new heroes, and a new system to gain those heroes!

And finally, Cao Cao, Zhuge Liang, Zhou Yu, Sima Yi, Lu Xun will all be in the game, with their awesome special ability!

Hello,

I was finaly able to test the mod for a few games and it's really awesome.
here are the - :
- The game is quite slow on huge maps, my poor old CPU suffers more and more as the games last long.
- Some units makes the game crash, sometimes, not all the time and only a some advanced stage of the game, that's a pity I wasn't able to finish any games yet.
- There are a LOT of buildings, maybe a bit too much? We could imagine more wonder providing buildings in every cities, couldn't we?

and the + :
- Your maps are fantastics, it was a very good idea to "create" those rivers, I kinda like it. The mountains also offers a very strategic design to the scenario's maps. They're just great
- The hero system, even if I did not understood their xp gain (and even if the hero menu was hard to find at the beginning). They provides very cool unexpected aspects to battles. Great challenge sometimes. My only regret is that I did not understood the heroe skills availability: it depends on the heroe or on the previous skills learned?
- Units design is very cool, the balance is very interesting as only pikemen seems too weak to me. All the other units are cool and useful.
- Promotions are great.
- Techs and buildings are fine, immersives. Great job.
- The emperor system is original. I think it should provide the emperor's owner more benefits (maybe I don't realize all the benefits provided by the emperor but it looked quite poor to me) so that players would really fight for it (unique buildings? guards ? better loyalty ? etc. ?)
- Barbarians system (leaders and all) is interesting. It's a small shame we cannot script mongol invasions at this period ^^

I certainly forget some but after a few games that was my point.
I could provide you with some crashing savegames if you're willing to debug it.

Anyways, thanks for working on this project.
Sorry for my poor english.

Thanks for the feedback. The speed problem will be totally solved in the next release. It would essentially cut waiting time from turn to turn to half.

- Some units makes the game crash, sometimes, not all the time and only a some advanced stage of the game, that's a pity I wasn't able to finish any games yet.

Do provide me with the crash saves, more is better, so I can get rid of those bugs.

Could you give me a suggestion as to which wonder could give which free building?

About the heroes: they gain experience after one of their legion unit gains experience. In civilopedia there's a hero section, which lists all available promotions a specific hero could gain. May be we should include a manual with screenshots next time.

Barbarians right now are just a little spice, given some more time, there will be more for them, although not mongol invasions, but up north there will be more than one nomad tribes.

Again, thanks for this very detailed and encouraging feedback!

I just have to say that Huge maps pose problems for more (older) PCs; it's not a HoTK-specific problem. Anyway, stmartin has promised the problem will be addressed. (And your English is fine, BTW.)
