[BTS] The History of Three Kingdoms

I just have to say that Huge maps pose problems for more (older) PCs; it's not a HoTK-specific problem. Anyway, stmartin has promised the problem will be addressed. (And your English is fine, BTW.)

unfortunately , i'm having the same problems as well as he has on the slowness, I'm on my fathers brand spaking new powerhouse computer, that has an AMD Phentom x4 II Black Edition 3.2 Ghz, 8 GB of Ram, an ATI Radeon HD4890 w/ 1 GB ram. On that 196 x 196, i suppose to not got a 10-25 seconds per turn end.

Thanks guys! This is a superb mod. I never felt like this eversince the civ3 RFRE. And I played hundreds of mods and half of them were good. Best Civ4 mod for me, Rye included.

Anyway, before going to kill Cao some more with Liu Bei, I have a problem I want to share with you and maybe we can find a way out:
No matter how hard I try, I cannot make my smoked brains to remember the names. OK, I can leave with city names as I remember their position - after 10 hours of play I still do not know my capital name :) - but the civilisation names are a pain in diplomacy. Let us try something like Sun Ce, Little Conqueror, Lu Bu, the Flying warior.... Something that can help me and the other western culture players know who is who as I tend to mix them when diplomacy pops up.

Thanks for your kind words! :)

About the name issue: we'll use your method, give 'nicknames' to the leaders and factions. We'll also try giving them to heroes. Since some heroes don't get any prominent nicknames, we'll include the ability to edit their nickname and set it yourself. May be some leader icon in the scoreboard helps a little, but we need to test it, make sure it does not take too much space. We'll solve this nasty little problem.:)

Sounds good. Most important are the faction/leaders. Even if nice, both having nicknames might make the lines to long in the lower right - what lower? in the first 20-30% of the game it is almost all the right side.

Anyway, heroes would be nice as well :) I have some knowledge of the era's history and literature but I am in no way acustomed enough to give them apropiate names. On the other hand, renaiming your own heroes might be great as it is not so much work and it will make them more familiar.

Also, we need to get some shortcuts as I am sure many of the leaders/heroes have 2 chinese characters nicks that can be translated something like "the one that can kill 10k warriors while drinking his tea without sugar because his brother died of diabetes..." :) No matter how intresting they are in a book, I doubt we will find the place for their length anywhere else but in the introductory civ/leader pop-up when you start a game. By the way guys, despite joking and slightly torturing you here, you have to know I respect your heroes and history. My amendment has nothing to do with it but with a better playability for the western culture noobs.

We could experiment with mouse-over text, put nicknames for leaders/factions there instead of showing them on the score board.:)

I might be missing something obvious, but I can't seem to form a legion. After I go to the screen to attach my hero and click confirm, the hero unit just does nothing. I don't get the form legion button after that.

Is it always like this, or just once? If it's always like this, make sure the installation is correct, or try reinstall once. If the problem still exist, give me a save game.

I haven't been able to figure it out yet. I must be ********. Anyone care to take pity on a poor soul?

I downloaded the new patch and I can now attach legions. When I first played the mod in 3.17 I can attach legions, but when I downloaded the mod for 3.19 and I couldn't. Now I downloaded the new patch and I can.:crazyeye:

Well, you either have to play as Yuan Shu (who starts with it) or to run Rebellion as your state belief and then build the Temple of Abdication. Building the Temple of Abdication allows all gov't option, including Emperor.

Two sneak peak screenshots for the next release:)

Looks great stmartin! I really like the random hero idea and how it rewards people for using troops wisely and not use them as fodder. It also has a hint of unpredictablility. Looking forward to the next release :)

wow, I go away for a few days and now... it's amazing! Now you've really got me wondering what "nine transformation" and "morale" are! (Morale as in how it's going to be implemented ;) ) This new version is going to be awesome!

No, morale is just as it has been implemented now, just temporary strength modifier. I put it in concept because someone see the text when one of his core troop is defeated, saying 'all legion members has taken a severe blow' or something, and wondering what that means, so I sum up all situations in the Mod when temporary strength modifier occurs. However, nine transformation is another new thing though.

Ni hao, is this mod only usable with 'Custom Scenario' or will a regular game work fine? Zhe zhe :)

It works with regular game. However, at this point, we use BTS mapscript which means you start with one settler, one warrior and perhaps one hero in random maps which are not like China. Of course, random maps are playable, because hero system works on random map too, the game also place an 'emperor's refuge' on random plot to allow to you capture and support the emperor.
