Bubba Smith, NFL star and 'Police Academy' actor, found dead at home

Former NFL star and "Police Academy" movie actor Bubba Smith was found dead Wednesday at his Los Angeles home, according to police and coroner's office officials. He was 66.

The L.A. County coroner's office said it has not determined a cause of death, but officials believe he died of natural causes.


Smith was found at his home on Sunlight Place in Baldwin Hills by a caretaker, police said.

Smith was an NFL defensive end and tackle for the Baltimore Colts, Oakland Raiders and Houston Oilers. He later had a career in Hollywood as movie and TV actor.

I put this here because he was both an actor and an athlete. So didn't really fit in either category.

He wasn't a great success as an actor. But I thought he played some good characters.
