BUFFY & HOF Mod Releases

I hereby politely request, that Lemon Merchant gets on the team for BUFFY .004 so that this mod finally reaches its release. Lemon Merchant has the skills to finish this project, a project where I asked for the status just 2 posts above which is 2 months ago, which didn't even get answered.

We want that new version of BUFFY, and with Lemon Merchant on the team, we maybe even could make some requests for the mod, so that the final version will be something really special, something really good. Denniz said that we cannot make any requests, and he also admitted, that the BUG and BULL version implied in the new BUFFY are not the newest ones, that is imho very odd. I for example would request the new BUFFY to have an inbuilt calculator, because I cannot count the numerous times where I have to switch on the desktop, hoping that my game will not crash once I switch back in after the calculations have been done.

We've been waiting long enough for the new BUFFY, we want a BUFFY that is at least as good as this one:

No, seriously. Plz get Lemon Merchant on the team. It's really to the best of the HoF.

Please don't blame Lemon Merchant for the lack of BUFFY.004. That's on me. I was having problems getting the HOF specific part working. My old Vista machine that had the complier died and I kind of gave up on it.

I wasn't blaming Lemon Merchant for BUFFY not being ready, I was asking if it'd be good to have her on the team! You don't seem to have the time and energy to finish the mod currently, but with her skills, it probably could be finished within 1 or 2 months! Getting a new, improved BUFFY would make the HoF more interesting again for all participants, so I think it's a good idea. At some point, you have to do it anyhow, because the espionage-victories will come and need to be seperated from the traditional culture ones, otherwise the transparency of the tables will be even more compromised than it is now alreaedy.

Plz don't let the HoF die slowly. If the work simply gets too much, aquiring new staff is only logical.

It is very infuriating, I've done all the steps from this:
http://hof.civfanatics.net/civ4/mod.php?show=vista

It still gives the same generic error, hof mod cannot save, and I can't open the save game or anything.

The bts is opening with admin permission and the entire firaxis folder has no read-only.

I'm on w7 and it's installed with steam. It's installed in the D drive, maybe that's related.

I really want to play this, what can I do?

Hi, I'm a GOTM game admin, but I do not know how to help this person. Any ideas?

If it is Steam, there's apparently an update Steam released that won't work with Buffy. They need to patch the Steam 'beta' version to revert back to the one the rest of us have.

Disclaimer: I haven't done this myself but I read it on the board somewhere and it seems to have helped some people. :)

Does BUFFY use an old version of BUG, or perhaps it's something from BULL that I miss.

When producing military units, it doesn't say how much XP they will get, like when I ran the game with BUG (4.4)/BULL. When I hover over the names in the scoreboard, it doesn't mention who they are at war with either. I have to click on their name, get up the diplo screen and then hover to see "War with X". Would be so useful to have this available in the scoreboard (bottom right).

Tiny details, but it's stuff like this I miss from my usual setup. Espionage is different too, but I suppose that may be to hide info about what the AIs are up to.

Then I add my name to the list for wishes of an updated BUFFY :)

Sharpen the spikes and get sla... modding :mischief:

Buffy is outdated. I think Denniz has taken some steps to convert files to the latest Bug stuff, but the HOF mod stuff is different.

Yep, Cereal was not blaming Lemon, probably just going off my suggestion earlier. Lemon might have other projects..not sure..but she would whip this bad boy up in a jiffy I'm sure.

Anyway, good to see folks putting some pressure on Denniz to make this happen. It used to just be me :)

Ah, I didn't read closely enough. I am not adverse to seeking new talent. The question is she interested.

Hi,
I wanted to play a nice game of CIV after what felt like a year or so of not playing. Problem is, when I load BUFFY I don't get the HOF tabs in the options menu. Apart from that the mod seems to have loaded normally (as in game display and version info).
Any ideas what could be wrong?

Nothing's wrong, I also don't get the HoF tables in the options menu. Easy to live without them.

And I thought you ment the "Hall of Fame" after starting up CIV. That one is bugged scilicet.

Kind of good to hear, cause I was worried it had wiped the local Hall of Fame. I just have the one game there now. Does it separate BUFFY games and 'normal' games?

Don't know where to post this, but I'll try here. Two odd things just happened in my game.

A War Chariot was going to move out of the city it was produced in, and towards my intended target. There are roads between the cities, and it would travel on the road across a river and further west. This has gone fine earlier. Now, however, the WC could only travel this one tile before all moves were spent for some reason.

A worker was chopping a forest, but due to the unit being produced getting out in one turn anyway, I didn't want to chop that turn, since it would just be wasted in too much overflow. So I put down 1 turn in a cottage instead. Next turn that worker was going to chop into a new WC, but now I'm told there are 3 turns remaining of a chop, and when telling him to chop, he did indeed start chopping, but the forest wasn't cut down (hoped there was an error with the interface).

Much earlier a jungle grew over a roaded tile. I didn't think that was possible, but maybe I just remember wrong, and they can't grow over proper improvements, but with roads the chance is just smaller?

Have you seen these seemingly errors with the move points and chopping? It's a HoF game so I unfortunately can't reload to see if it would repeat the errors, but I'm quite puzzled by the whole thing.

Never had the error with building the cottage over a chop, normally both get remembered and the cottage even gets the 1T of build subtracted once the Forrest is gone.

Jungles and Forrests have a 50% smaller chance to grow over roads, so it's definately possible. It's even possible, that Jungles grow over Improvements, when the Jungle grows while the Worker still improves the tile, then the improvement is in the Jungle afterwards even without having IW and stuff, so i. e. "pastured Jungle Pigs" one cannot free :D
