Bug Reporting

I just downloaded this mod and I love it! It has worked fine, except I can't get the scoreboard to show up. The button that usually toggles the score display is highlighted, but I can't get it to show up.
Thanks in advance!!!

EDIT: I also cannot change productoin in the city screen and I cannot whip, or use any of the other buttons in that panel
 
@DroopyTofu - it sounds like there's an error when drawing the scoreboard. That the other panel is non-functional is usually a sign that you modified a Python file while the game was running, and it didn't like the change. I'm not saying that's what you did; that's what I usually do that causes this same behavior.

Can you please look in your My Games / BTS / Logs folder for "PythonErr.log" (no 2 in the name). If it isn't there, modify CivilizationIV.ini and set LoggingEnabled to 1, then start a game in Civ again so the problem occurs and post the file.

Also, how did you install it? SVN? EXE installer? And where? CustomAssets or Mods folder? Anything else that's different from the standard for your system?
 
I haven't done anything to the python (I'd crash the whole system with my luck), and I couldn't find the "PythonErr.log" anywhere. I found the "LoggingEnabled" and changed it to 1. Problem still happening.

It is saved under "C:\Users\user\Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\BUG Mod"
As for my system, nothing out of the ordinary, just Windows Vista.

Do you have any other mods installed?

Can you open the BUG Options screen using ALT + CTRL + O successfully? When you change options, close the window, and reopen it, are your new choices saved? Do they take effect in-game?
 
I'm using the Blue Marble Mod.
I'd found the BUG Options screen before. I just opened the game up, changed some minor options, and they changed onscreen as soon as I unchecked the box. I shrunk the window, and the choices were still saved and still in effect. When you said close the window, did you mean restart the game, or just shrink it? I'll try restarting the game.

One thing I noticed was htere was an option on the scoreboard tab that says something about maximum civilizations that was set to 0. I moved it up to 18, but nothing changed. (This is still on the fisrt turn, so I haven't met anybody, but shouldn't I still show up?)

EDIT: I closed out of the game and reopened it. The options I'd changed were still there, but I was still getting the same errors. I played a ways into the game, but just stopped because I can't change my capital away from building Research.

Okay, that's generally a safe mod. It only changes artwork--not code--so it won't interfere with BUG.

I meant hit the "Exit" button at the bottom of the options screen. It makes the window disappear entirely. If that's what you mean by shrink, then yes, that's what I meant. ;) Restarting is good too, but not necessary.

0 for that option means "no maximum". It will show all civs. Yes, you should always show up on the scoreboard.

Can you post your PythonErr2.log file? Maybe that has something in it.

Hmmmm... It looks much longer in the spoilers than it did in the coding I Copied and Pasted it from. Did I do something wrong?
 
Darn, it doesn't have any information I need. Do you see popups with error messages when playing at all? It's acting like there are Python errors, but you're not getting them in the PythonErr.log file.

Can you post the contents of PythonDbg.log? Maybe it has a clue.
 
I haven't gotten a single error message. Where would I find that file? I did a search on it, but I can't find anything simalar to that.
 
All the game log files go in the Logs folder in your My Games / Beyond the Sword folder. If you don't see that file, post the contents of your CivilizationIV.ini file. There must be something we're missing here.
 
Found it! At least I think I did. It's all Greek to me. This is the PythonDbg. , not the CivilizationIV.ini. I noticed that it says Warlords at the top several times. I have BtS.

@DroopyTofu - No, I just scanned it to look for problems, and I didn't see any. The part about Warlords is standard, even for BTS. When you install BTS without Warlords, it installs the parts it needs from Warlords as well.

I can't see any reason why you'd be getting interface issues, nor can I see why we can't see the error messages themselves. At this point, reinstalling Civ/BTS/BUG is my only advice. :(
 
@DroopyTofu - Are you running version 3.13 or 3.17 of BTS? Please make sure by checking the ABOUT THIS BUILD page from the ADVANCED menu option. BUG requires one of these two versions to run.

Don't use the in-game updater; it's flaky. Look in the BTS forum for the thread announcing the 3.17 patch. In the first post are links to several sources for the patch. It's just a simple EXE that you can download and install yourself.
 
I got the patch and started up the game. The BUG mod works great! I feel bad that you spent all that time looking for errors when the whole thing was my forgetfulness. Sorry. :sad::sad::sad: Thank you for all the help, though. :hatsoff::hatsoff::hatsoff:

The font file has been removed. If you use SVN to get updates but copy files to another directory to install, you need to manually remove files that SVN removed.

No, SVN provides a new gamefont.tga file since yesterday, 01.04.09 (CET) (no april fool).
