Bug Reports and Technical Issues

What is the method you used to get the mod?
I downloaded it from Github. You and others helped walk me through that process.
I understand this has probably been addressed here a dozen times, but I am trying to download the latest 1.18 develop branch from github.

Several things make this difficult. I am computer illiterate, and I play on the steam version. I did fine following the instructions for the official 1.17 link, but I have no idea what to do with that github copy/paste situation.

Also, I have tried to delete 1.17 and just download/ unzip the recent develop into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Beyond the Sword\Beyond the Sword\Mods

but when I start up the mod, nothing happens. Just BTS loading screen.

Love your mod Leoreth. Tried it a little last night. Known about it for years, but too ignorant to attempt the download.

Using that process for the develop branch should give you the most recent content. Perhaps make sure that you delete your existing mod beforehand.

Is Cristo Redentor meant to not be buildable when running Secularism? Because historically Cristo Redentor was built long after Brazil dropped Catholicism as its state religion.

I'll look into Crystal Cathedral to see if that's the same case.

There's something about the 1700AD scenario and civs which start with some UHV goals set as completed in it. For instance, Congo starts with the first goal set (achieve 12% of votes in the AP election) and you can then aim for the second (1000 gold from slave trade by 1800AD).
First is that when reloading a save, the amount of gold in the objective's counter seemed to jump upwards for some reason, but that might be specific to some problem with this UHV.
Second and that's the main problem, if I save the game after achieving the goal then quit, when reloading and advancing a turn the game informs in a popup again that the goal has been achieved, triggering the golden age again as well as the -2 attitude penalty, both of which add up. Kinda related to how the popups for failed UHV goals also keep popping up in every reload for the civs that have them set as failed in that scenario.
I also noticed it with France back in the day, with its second UHV goal of 40% controlled territory of Europe and North America

Can you tell me more about the issue with the required gold in Congo's UHV? What do I need to do to reproduce it?

Actually it's looking even weirder now. I have a save as Congo in 1701AD right after starting the scenario, and when reloading the 2nd goal states it's accomplished at 1000/1000 gold earned. But it doesn't seem like the goal triggers until I sell a slave for any gold amount.

So I have to:
  1. Start the 1700 AD scenario as Congo
  2. Save the game
  3. Load the game
and it will have additional gold added to its goal?

I just tried that exactly and that's pretty much what happens. Gold towards the goal starts at 500/1000 and upon reloading goes to 1000/1000, I also remember it jumped to 1400/1000 in some other reload when it must have been at 700/1000, so it sounds as part of the problem of the game resetting or rather readding UHV goals status at every reload

EDIT: actually must have been at 900/1000 and the code added the 500 extra set at the scenario beginning

EDIT2: btw Congo starts with Regulated Trade civic but without the Companies tech for it

Did you build an Orthodox Cathedral?

The "Great Schism" entry in the DoC concepts of the civilopedia probably has you covered. Chances are that more than half of orthodox cities in the world were controlled by independents or non-orthodox civs, then catholicism is founded in one of them

Ok I will take a look, but in case I didn't make it clear the holy city of Catholicism ended up being one of mine, which suggests I founded it, not an independent.

That suggests that Orthodox cities outnumbered those inside the Orthodox founder's empire, therefore Catholicism could randomly spawn in any Orthodox city inside Catholicism's historical area. I think.

Playing as the Kushans, I have both a Buddhist and a Hindu missionary ready to spread their religions to an Indian city. Spreading Buddhism gives me the gold bonus as it should, but the Hindu missionary doesn't give me the gold bonus. No matter which order I spread them in.

Another thing to mention, not exactly a bug, but the limit on training Settlers on foreign continents before Exploration creates a weird situation for the Kushans (and Tibet, when I played them), as their empires straddle the areas defined as different continents. It felt awkward being unable to train a settler in a city so close to my capital. I think adding an exception to the settler restriction, allowing a civilization to train a settler in any city within 10 tiles of the Palace, would be a good idea.
Spoiler Can't Train Settler :

Edit: It just occurred to me that Hinduism is the state religion of India, so of course the Kushan UP wouldn't active. So ignore that first part, please.
