Actually, this is the first mention I've noted that you were following this thread! I'm glad you found it humorous - it was intended to be funny, not insulting to our friends in France...you'll note that earlier in the thread I offered some observations of Americans and Germans made by a Norweigian friend of mine... also amusing... his theory on British Maritime Traditions is also a winner. Unfortunately Lizzy's not in this game...

I think when you use words like "honor" together with "finishing it off" in a game such as this, things are probably better left to the next better player. (Besides, I think I'm up in this "Ottomans on the Ocean" game...)

Before the turnlog, something for those who must play vicariously: a view of the French countryside, as seen from American Leipzig. I think it looks absolutely gorgeous now that much of it has been returned to its natural state...

Laser due in 9, 409g+89gpt
Scroll through our cities, firing clowns, hiring scientist, tax collectors, and putting citizens back to work. Some cities with empty shield boxes go back to producing "wealth". We'll spit out a few more MA, Mech, and F-15s in the next few turns. That can improve.

A little more Diplomacy...
Trade Fission to Egypt for 70gpt+90g+WM.

Izzy will offer 157gpt+160g+WM for Computers, but X-man and Cleo lack that tech, so I'll let the next better player make that call on pre-flight.

Note: Something with X-man runs out next turn for 289gpt. Looks like the end of a tech trade.

Play a little with the sliders, and we now stand at 499g+581gpt, with laser due in 6. Getting it any faster requires 90% research, and we don't have the cash reserves for that right now.

And a minor kvetch: why is it I seem to get the anarchy or worker/citizen management sets in games and you guys get all the stompin'? (vide Bugs1 & Bede01)

I haven't missed a turn ! I was part of this joan's hairdo / chemo debate
After this one I'll have a look at the PTW's gentleman league. Could be interesting to see how different players handle the same situation (and which ones have managed to please our dear ladies the most )

PT: Persia & Mongolia are both broke with no gpt to offer. Egypt can part with 5gpt, this isn’t starting out well. Joan offers 60gpt & a couple pennies for Miniaturization. Izzy to the rescue, we sell her Computers for 152gpt & 160g.

Turn up research to 90%, Laser in 5 with 334gpt.

IT Joanie gives us a ring, politely asking our troops to leave. They were just gigolos servicing all the non-bald French maidens, but we’ll send them home. Suddenly she has 417gpt to spare, JACKPOT! Sell her Superconductor for it. I swear if she declares war to get out of paying us 500gpt.

T1- Sell Izzy Superconductor for 143gpt & 16g.
Renegotiate our saltpeter deal with Xerx for 28gpt(was 12).
Sell him Superconductor for 116gpt.
Citizens go back to work minting coins.

T2- Sell Joanie Nuke power for 134gpt & 170g.

T3- Sell Cleo Ecology for 8gpt & 40g.
Sell Izzy Nuke power for 5gpt & 30g. I’m in a giving mood.

T4- La la la. I hate worker turns. Sorry, had to.

Once again the citizens of Isipeza, pledge alliance to America. Sorry, we’re perfectly happy they way we are.

Gift Temujin about 5 techs cause he’s never made it to the MA in my games. He should have kept the tophat.

IT Learn Satellites.
Joanie moves about 15 troops into our territory. Looks like a sneak attack, to bad we won’t be around to see it.

T8- As requested: A multi win choice.
Hit enter> Learn Satellites, then “big picture” & go to the Domestic advisor & switch our Army pre-build to the SS Thrusters. It completes, blast off. OR…………don’t switch over the pre-build & hold the UN elections.

Purely a coincidence, but it makes me look cool since someone asked for it. Plus it’s a fitting way to cap off a great variant, our choice of the two Wins we were debating between.

Oh yea, I'm not sure which is funnier: The fact that we put a collective 8 days into this game, or that Wilmington just happend to be under the box & was ending "we love the Pres Day" as we blasted off.

Monarch/Emperor/Demi game. AI respawn ON!

Condition: We must beat back every civ into respawning elsewhere. Then kiss alot of ass.
Victory goal: Win vote for UN, without using dogpiles or mass alliances.
