Bugs3 - The Sid Virgin Sacrifice

You're right Aggie, forgot about the 80% water (I'd prefer 70% anyway...).

btw, why no SGLs? I don't think they hurt us considering how cheap wonders are anyway for the AI, but I'd like to have a small hope...

I just always turn them off. Didn't really think about in those terms. I should be sleeping right now though, so I'll post what I have tomorrow.

Edit: Just remembered, I uploaded the saves, so I'll post them now. I forgot to take screenshots though, so I'll do that later if someone else hasn't already. If I mixed up which save is which, sorry.

River and Cow

Two Wheats, I hope

If the other one doesn't have two wheats, this one should

Apparently, I uploaded more than I thought, as you can tell from the links. One is of much lower quality than the other two.

Here are the screen shots from bed_head's 3 starting files.

That was why I posted them, but as you say it is Bugs' game and we should let him make the call. He may have generated some other starts or he may have enlisted the help of one of our resident map makers (hint hint MB if your watching).

I probably ran over five hundred different starts and never saw a river, and rarely saw fresh water (once). I would be interested in bedhead's river start.

Edit - It helps if one reads the entire thread. First, this is a team and while I may be sponsoring it, I only get one vote. I agree with the river start. Let's see how many more of us like it.

Here is a proposed roster. It follows the sun so we may be able to turn it faster:
grs
Ankka
Gyathaar
Doc T
Gator
Bugs

River is a must.

I was playing on my own yesterday and was gonna play a light OCC with 80% archi, and wondered why there were no rivers - ever. Now I found it out. :)

The one with the river is the only one I would accept for Sid.

If we have a consensus, GRS gets the first 20 turns.

Looks good to me. Both game choices and roster.

Both the start and roster is fine with me.

As a sidenote I decided about 5 mins ago to try to play a game with same game settings.. on 4th map generation mapfinder came up with a river and coast start, with cow, fish and gold hill :)

Havent started playing it yet except moving the worker to cow (and see the fish).

This is how it looks like if you want to take it into consideration (in any case i wont play it till tomorrow earliest):

Here is the save btw. I think I left scientific leaders turned on thou.

I know I don't get a vote, but if I did I think I know who rolls the best starts here, and it isn't me or Sir Bugsy.

It certainly isn't me.

Both river starts look fine for me.
But I'd really prefer if someone (bed_head, for example, or someone late in the roster) plays about 40 turns into it.
If we find ourself with an AI Civ on a smaller landmass, it is pretty futile to continue.
Or at least, we have to completely change our strategy - 2 cities, 2 Barracks, and military.

Roster is fine for me (though oddly alternating between Scandinavians and Germans ;) ).

One thing I'd like to point out: The prebuild city. In my Sid SG trial, we screwed that up completely...
To have a good shot at the GLib: City must be #2, maybe #3. Must have some kind of bonus tile. Unless it's a really good spot, build nothing there except a Temple first (otherwise we need to run high lux tax solely for that city), and then prebuild. If it grows slowly, join Workers once we somehow can afford it.

Techs to get are Pottery and CB ASAP.

If we do that I would prefer someone not on the roster to do it and just tell us if we are alone or not, but I have no problem with just playing the first 20 for real and then we will know more.

Seems they put you somewhere in eastern europe. :)

I would try Gyathaar's start first too. It has one of those lovely gold hills.

 How comes? :mischief:

Btw, completely off topic - ever noticed there seems no way to display Kyrillic letters on cfc?

Picked my handle in the context of a Star Trek CCG, where it made sense; got used to it, so I kept it (FYI, Constantin Tsiolkovski was a rocketry pioneer in the 1920ies)

On topic again: Sure, you can as well play into it; just expect to do that several times.

I wont play a practice game on that river start map then I guess.. :)

Perhaps let bed_head play a few turns on both river starts to let him see which one looks most promising?

Or do we just want to pick one and play it out, and if it looks bad after a few turns try the other?
