I've just found that a unit hidden with the Forest Stealth promo gets bumped out of it's tile if a hostile enters (note to self, don't leave lonely worker as bait with a hidden assassin!).

Is this a function of invisibity in general, or just Forest Stealth, and what happens if there are no suitable tiles for the hidden unit to get bumped to?

Thanks

It's a funcion of invisibility in general.
No suitable tiles is an impossible case to happen. In the worst of all cases, you will have at least 1 tile for your capital where your unit can be teleported.

If you play with "require complete kills" it's not impossible.

If there's no place to move the unit it remains in place. Both if culture spread there and an enemy unit moves there.

It's the same for all hidden units. The funny (buggy) part is, even if you get bumped to a non-forest tile your unit stays hidden.

No idea what happens if there is no place to get bumped to. You may try it with the world builder.

it only stays hidden for the duration, to preserve the functionality of hidden(but you will need to find a new forest to hide in the next turn)

Forest stealth seems to be a bit broken in MP though.
I was able to find a stealth Hunter who was probing my territory for a weak spot because even though the unit was invisible for me i could still see the banner moving on the map.
So i just casted Wither on the tile and it hit him with the curse forcing him to retreat.
Don't know what would have happened if i had tried to attack him with troops though.

Ah, ok, I was assuming it had to bump to an adjacent tile, but I'm guessing then if no such tile is available, it'll bump to the next best tile (as with getting pushed out of expanding borders).

It's a bit of a pain if there are tell-tales in MP, though. I'd imagine in MP it could really shine (assuming you can't actually be detected). You (Dynablaster) didn't have a unit nearby that could see invisible by any chance, did you?

No stealth detecting units involved. As I said I could not see the hunter itself but the banner/flag/whatever every unit carries around to show nationality.

If he still gets bumped out of his tile when attacked it would not be that bad. Wither is the only (early) spell i know right now, damaging without using a combat like Fireball would. So he would still be very much untouchable and a great scouting tool.

Needs testing though.

Still, a bit of a concern that you could see the flag. Without some kind of detection you should have been none the wiser. Perhaps it had the rare "stealth marching band" promotion ;)

Perhaps invisible units should steal some of the HN units code and have their flags not be visible.

as well untargetable if it's the only unit in the tile,
(plus the player can see the aoe damage on invisible units, but that may or may not be a bug)
