C2C - Event Ideas

I would love to see a spreading fire/flooding on terrain graphic feature at some point,
if someone felt compelled to make it possible.
 
I think fire could be done as a barbarian unit with spawns and invulnerability to most forms of units... but then again, my 'water/firefighters' line concept has been rejected so maybe it wouldn't work well without them.
 
@SO: that game migration event is the original one which places deer just fine - the image is the one afforess used for that - I can change it, but his event images are hidden in some fpk or other - so I wouldn't easily be able to remove the image file itself.

Sure you can;) I have faith in you, all you need to do is like everyone else is doing just put it in the correct "art" folder as the others, making your own in the SVN area, ie: when adding tech tree buttons, they just make a folder themselves and put it in there, and when I do the FPK, i will add them to the correct spot, as long as i mentioned, you have them in the correct spot first:p

I have no problems pointing the event to a different image in my files - I just don't know an easy and fool proof way of finding and then deleting one file in the current fpks.

Your not getting what i wrote or i wrote badly (which is what i usually do:blush:).

All you need to do is:

1. in the SVN there is an ART folder there after the Assets folder. Open that. it takes you to some more folder.
2. MAKE a folder called Afforess, then open that one, (at this point nothing will e in there), place YOUR images (dds files) there. POOF your done.:eek::goodjob:

There is also an Event_Images folder in that area also for newer ones or place your name there and put new ones in your choice.

No need to open any FPK, i am in charge of that stuff anyways. You can then ADD/CHANGE do whatever you want to do from there.

I will make it easy for you in the attached i made up the folders for you, hows that??

In my game I have gotten now 3 fire events so far! Yay! Seems like the tweaking has helped.

I have seen lots of them already all over the place and get one about every 75 turns or so.
 
It would be great to hear if they seem to be in about the right frequency - or if I should tone them down now...

I agree with hydro, in the Preh/Ancient/Classical/ era's there were alot of fires that broke out, but as "we" progressed, the fires did NOT, and then we had the Fire Brigades, so then it should go less and less, but more wild forest fires, as in California every year.
 
Wildfires and City fires are 2 different things. Especially in California where wildfires are a natural annual cycle. Trees like the Redwoods cannot reproduce without wildfires. Also it is ironic that the prevention of fires has caused many woodland areas across the country to become tinderboxes and if they do catch on fire they will be a whole lot more destructive than if they had let the smaller wildfires happen. I guess that's what happens when we mess with the natural cycles of nature.

OK now in the last 100 turns i have gotten over 5 different city fires, a couple of different ones, but none the less fire ones, now thats just a bid/tad too much.
 
@Ori is there any way of making events occur? In particular none of the 7 volcanoes in my region have done anything since the start of the game and I am now in the Middle Ages.

Same in my last 2 games.:( But really how often do volcano's really do anything on Earth??
