C2C - Galactic Era

@AIAndy
Indeed, I already thought of most of this stuff and came to the conclusion that you did. As Hydro quoted on the first page from the other thread, Ion Propulsion is roughly 600km/s and is only a solar system propulsion. VASIMR is 900km/s but would take roughly 8 to 10 turns per tile in the galactic map to reach Alpha Centauri. However, once Nuclear Pulse Propulsion is discovered which moves at 15,000km/s (roughly one diameter of earth per second), deep space probes would become more prevalent at 4 to 5 turns per tile. Eventually there'll be antimatter rockets moving at 100,000 km/s (1/3 the speed of light) and that would be 1 tile per turn. Finally reaching Neutrino Oscillation Pulse at 9,000 terrameters per second, but due to the curvature of spacetime will actually be moving somewhere up in .999~ speed of light with the requirement of a blackhole, quantum computers with accuracy down to the attometer through a distorted spacetime field, and of course some badass test subjects willing to sacrifice themselves in the name of science (you monster).

Although these velocities really mean nothing in the vacuum of space, they are the cruising speeds in perspective to space debris and the optimal velocity between speed and the ability to evade debris.

Eventually to get anywhere on the Galactic Map you will need to have either space-folding, wormholes, or some other method of getting from point A to point B faster than the speed of light from an outsider's perspective. However, in the beginning sendign unmanned probes with pulse-propulsion should be fine for exploring the very near stars should be fine.

There should really be no issue with the debris in interstellar space, so long as you aren't flying through a nebula. On average, there is about one atom for every cubic meter in deep space, so that should not cause any serious problems for an advanced civilization.

granted, when you do collide with debris, your day is going to SUCK. interstellar probes are not going to be cheap to begin with. in RL, they be multi-trillion dollar projects. speaking of which, there's a new event for you:

Probe/Spaceship collides at relativistic speeds collides with pebble.

Probe/Spaceship totaled (throw anything with mass with enough energy, just hitting something will create a explosion equal to that of a nuclear weapon. at relativistic speeds, hitting a pebble would likely be sufficient to end a voyage real quick or at least complicate things greatly. granted, a advanced enough civ would be able to just vaporize it with its shields, but what about a civ whos just started traveling around between the stars. they cant afford as much protection for theirs.

@Is612
The last line of my last post is in reference to perspectives. To the people on the ship, they're standing still while things are moving past them and like Daedwartin pointed out, you don't want to collide with ANYTHING.

(edited)
The Extra Mod by Chiyu, incorporated many technologies, and units possible from a good bit of the official civilization scenarios and expansions including Final Frontier (all the galactic units and techs). For those interested, some of it probably could be ported to C2C relatively easily. It's possible that some of the technologies for other eras were not incorporated into C2C. It really is a well made mod. I recommend looking it over.

Wait so is this how space travel will work in the game? You launch a spaceship first on Earth. Then the spaceship goes into a space terrain like place from there it can reach a planet. Once it is hovering over the planet you get the option do you want to go into this planet. If you select yes you go into the planet. If this is how it will work my only question is how can you decide where you want to land in the planet?
Sorry for the long post:)

New Weapons Types (60% done)
Weapon Guide Here:
http://okim.nickersonm.com/sots/manual.html

different Armor and Hull sizes protect against different weapons. Rock paper scissor style. Like copper---->bronze, this weapons "promote"There are more types to be added.

Space Warfare will be "rock,papaer,scissor" Strategic.

"Think of Pokemon..water beats fire, but fire beats grass, grass beats water

energy14.jpg
Blaster Category
Good Against: Ships with Light hulls (Fighters, Colony ships and Bombers), Scout Hulls, Land Forces, Miniature hulls
Description: Mostly used by small orbital defences , carrier fighters, and Space marines. Ineffective on larger hulls but excellent on light hulls class ships, and especially against land infantry, scout ships, and colony arks. Really ineffective against most Hull sizes. Traditionally blasters are assigned to the fastest and smallest ships in a Fleet, that have strict weight requirements, and cannot carry live ammunition.
Bad Against Ships with Heavy, Cargo, Construction, Battleship, Destroyer, CoCarrier, Station, Guardian, Command. Fortress, mothership, Gargantuan, Capital, Titan, Demolition, Infiltrator and Predator Hulls
Normal: corvette
No Effect Against: Crystalline Class Armor, Nanite Class Armor

Okay im done editing hulls and weapon classes.

If I didn't know better, I'd say you took quite a few of those hull types from EVE Online. :lol:

Actually AI: Fleet command, star ruler, sins of a solar Empire and Armada 2526 but you are also correct, they are in Eve online. What do you think of the weapon classes..dont worry some will promote to another class.

What do I think of the weapon classes? I think we're gunna need to organize them all out before we can make sense of what stays and what goes.

What do I think of the weapon classes? I think we're gunna need to organize them all out before we can make sense of what stays and what goes.

Ill get started, The more you know, the better opinions you can make.

Super Weapon idea (should probablely be very-late galactic because first resource cost and effect): planet destroyers.
1 more (i say dimension cus this would be worse. both should be able to be UN banned and require a option in game setup be used that's disabled by default): something like the Sun Crusher (from star wars. it caused supernovas, which happen when the core contracts so quickly it rebounds back and then just flings its upper layers outward, hence its crushing stars. from long range to boot. it used special torpedoes to achieve this, but honestly anything short of a black hole was unable to stop it. yes you could THROW it into a star's core and the only problem it have would be that its located in the core, a not so easy to place for even Jedi to recover something from. it would still be undamaged (inferred because they considered actually storing it in a star. didn't happen because they wanted to make it difficult to use, but still have conceivable chance of pulling it out again. which backfired greatly. )

@rightfuture

We already have a lot of that alreay in C2C. Especially the techs (ex. Biological Warfare, Shielding, Stirrups, Crop Rotation, Elephant Domestication, etc).

What about the Final Frontier items for the Galactic Era? They have been merged and balanced. Could save some work.
I think Extra still has some good ideas left that haven't been included yet. Chiyu took stuff from Civ V, and many of the official scenarios. Some of tech placement and balancing felt well thought out, maybe there are a few lessons to learn. Have you actually played it? I still remember how smooth the early game played.

@MrAzure: Some very good ideas there, It will help me considerably in planning new spaceships.:goodjob: I am planning though to base the ship classes and combat roles off of Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion, the only game I play aside from C2C. In short, please let me take lead on spaceship planning and design.
