C2C: Promotions

I do not know anything about how it is intended, i just read the XML.

More important would be that Heroic II works as intended.

That is what it is intended for, you can get the GA only from winning with a GG on the unit. At any rate the problem was that I forgot to add Heroic I as a prereq for Heroic II, which was fixed yesterday on the SVN.

Cool, I'll get around to making those promotions sometime soon. Why by the way are we adding something specficially for cats? Couldn't we just extend the existing Dog promotions?

Because were are having some new feline units for the alt-timeline. Note it should not matter if they turn of the mod since only felines would be able to take those promotions.

And we DO have some Dog promotions. As stated at the bottom where some of them overlap. In other words the Feline and Canines share some promotions but they also have a hand full of promotions just for their category. Some examples ...

- Stalk Prey = Shared
- Bark = Canine Only
- Tree Climbing = Feline Only

Does this mean that players opting to play without GG's can never get Heroic I or II?
Isn't having Lead by Noble/Warlord, aso, being on the unit enough?

I believe the Noble does the same thing as a GG code-wise, so yes. But if you don't use GGs the odds of ever getting Heroic I or II are much lower.

I cant get Heroic at all?? Without GG/Nobles at least??
 
Not without the 'led by warlord' promotion, which only comes from those two. Otherwise it would be horribly overpowered.

So your saying that a person can not be a Heroic person? Doesn't seem right. If its to overpowering then how about we make a less one for normal units, but will invite them to become more Heroic in battle, isn't that what the Medal of Honor is all about?? (Individual accomplishment at the risk of own life)
 
I am currently working on a new project (small one) that adds a few promotions to C2C, but i need a few things first:

1. I need a person that knows SDK, to add a few tags to the promotion schema:
a. Here is the promotion site for the source code and other things needed: http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=13140
b. At the current time i need these added to the schema: bPilageResearch, bDefensiveVictoryMove, and VictoryHeal for now.

2. If you think we need any more of the tags that he has listed please do so, that way later we dont have to re-do the schema's again, IF they are needed only. Thx.
 
I'd be happy to add those for you as soon as I can SO. I'd looked through a lot of those tags and most of them do seem like they'd be good but a few would not work in C2C as I recall. But none seemed so shockingly awesome that they needed inclusion immediately I felt. Although, since you have a few you want specifically, no problem. Give me a week or two to get them in though.

No problem, i can wait, i sent the python to DH for review anyways, he was the one that noticed the tags needed;), not me:rolleyes:.

Well yes and no, i am currently doing ALOT of stuff, working with DH with alot of modcomps, (as best i can), making changes and testing as obvious with Koshling, making New(er) civs, extra promotion tags with TB, i want ALOT of events and especially QUESTS, and working also on something completely different IF and i say IF i have time, i just want a more ) well never mind, it more than likely will never come to daylight.

btw, i will NEVER abandon C2C, this is my "Baby!"
 
Few ideas

1. How about adding to trench promotions some fortify bonuses. For example:

Trench I: fortify bonus 6% per turn (so it would cumulate 6, 12... till 30)
Trench II: 7% per turn (so it would cumulate 7, 14... till 35)
Trench III: 8% per turn (so it would cumulate 8, 16... till 40) + first strike when fully fortified,

or maybe accumulate 5% bonuses more than 5 turns.

2. If there was a small chance for autopromotion when taking collateral damage for promotions like drill and trench.

I don't know if that is part of the Combat Mod or not, but if it is then I could implement it on promotions (and units) relatively easily. It is certainly something that would make warfare in the Industrial era more defensive, which is good.
