C2C: Promotions

Heroes?? Lost his Warlord status??? pic 1 and autosave, I believe its this turn, all you have to do is TRY and promote the Hero and it loses its Lead by Warlord status, everytime???

Also i am losing the "speed" of this unit?? again??? pic 2

Plus, we lose the Maurader from the Ambusher right away why?? I put that in the Ambusher for a reason to take the gold??

It states it doesn't have a prerequisite combat class. Apparently its being given the promo in a way that gets around the check for that prereq then is losing it when it realizes it should never have had it. I'll have to look into that more but if the prereq combat class on Led by Warlord is an odd one, a potential fix would be to have the promo actually add the combat class it has a prerequisite of. Anyhow, that is an interesting one and along the same lines as the last one that stated it was lost as a result of prereq combat class missing. Both are something I can take a look into.

I think (I've not looked at this closely, and am not familiar with this section of code) that it could possibly be a timing issue with when the code checks for unit combat on an upgrade. You may want to look and see if it is returning NULL (or NO_UNITCOMBAT) at some point in the upgrade process.
 
Hmm... its a theory at least. I doubt it since the promo validity check really couldn't take place in between such a combat class void moment and if it did we'd have a lot more problems than these. But there could be something going on along those lines to look into. It'll take a full analysis starting with the actual xml settings and after my tags are all sewn up I can look into it. Probably won't take long to find the problem I don't think.
 
My hunter just lost his hunting sight. :(

Maybe there's still something to fix with the terrain and feature promotion set.
 
I'm not responding to all these individually so much as I'll return and use this as a reference of things to look into when I'm able to. In the meantime, if anything has been resolved, let me know.
 
The Ambusher can capture worker, the Rogue cannot. The Rogue is stronger and can pillage, the Ambusher cannot. Put them together and they are a good team, but you can only have 2 Rogues vs tons of Ambusher's. If the Ambusher could pillage, you could wipe out a civ without ever declaring war. Too much of an exploit, ruins the game.

Since there are canines now and the canine promotions give bonuses against criminals, how about a promo line for the criminals to have a bonus against canines?

Ah... that could possibly explain things. I'm not sure but its possible that attaching a Warlord changes the combat class somehow.

How about a promotion, Industrial and later, of Portable bridges? Removes the movement penalty for crossing a river without a bridge.

- Polar Worker I, II and III
- Desert Worker I, II and III
- Rugged Worker I, II and III
- Wetland Worker I, II and III
- Fieldsman Worker I, II and III
- Hills Worker I, II and III
- Forest Worker I, II and III
- Speedy Worker I, II and III
- Worker I, II and III

The last one is just generic in case we need it.

Let me know if you need any more promotion icon/buttons.

Combat engineer promotion to allow units build forts and roads and faster healing for siege weapons. Very realistic

I already tried that with Combat Workers, which are sort of the same thing. At any rate that modcomp doesn't have AI, so I think that for now I'll wait for Koshling to implement the AI central control mechanisms and then try and make Combat Workers work.
