C2C SVN Changelog

I can try to tool around with that and see if I can come up with a solution but that IS Koshling's specialty. We'll see.

Again though, I'm quite happy to move to the 35 civ dll after what I saw yesterday in a game with more than 30 - rather overkill.

Why not ask the admins to see if you can get a survey on this matter:) See what the public wants?

Trying to update SVN gives me an error:
Cleanup doesn't help.

Yeah, but some of us don't read the forums first...;)

Then simply update to an earlier revision number to back out of the last update you made. Easypeasy.

If you try and remove a specialist oops that is special unit you break save games just like happens when you remove a terrain feature from base BtS but no longer from C2C.

Ok, I ran a test and found where it's throwing up the incompatability management popup but there's a lot of things I'm finding elusive about how that was circumvented in other cases so I'm probably up a creek on trying to figure this one out without a lot of explanation by the other senior programmers.

However...

I'm sure it CAN be done. Just how necessary IS it to remove that file at this time? Is it possible to strip the game object of its details (or reuse the object tag as a shell for another specialunit?) if it's causing any other overt problems?

I suppose if we don't HAVE to kill compatibility this version it buys us time to try to get some of the more advanced programmers onto the issues we're looking to create an incompatibility over so they might be addressed in an alternative fashion.

I send these files to SO, maybe he can try to update these freaking buttons after everything be normal again.

Anyway thanks Alberts and sorry for inconvenience.

If you post them here i could try it and fix the svn in case it fails again.

EDIT:

I removed 7782 so the svn is fixed again.

You can just create a poll yourself. It is just a "normal" new thread.

@TB it has no effect in game and so can stay.
Ok, then I think we should retain compatibility for now. We'll use the 50civ dll as the core then and support (without mini-support) a 35 civ dll for those players who have somewhat smaller systems or just want to show some restraint when they begin a game next.

If it becomes more popular then we'll need to offer 35 civ dll support for minis as well which shouldn't be too bad to do now that I'm finding the SVN is working a bit better on this newest checkout that does irritate as it requires the password so dang often. But since I'm there now it's not so much an issue anymore.

Hey there bud... took a look at the latest civopedia in a last minute unit review here and took notice of all the new Unit Combat button arts... well done! It's a whole new stylistic approach and I like it. I'll need your base art files if I'm to keep with the same theme when adding new ones though. I take it some of them still have some further differentiation work to be done but I also think you've done well to apply some generics across entire categories for the time being.

Not sure I like the size ones much but the other size matters categories were brilliant!

@the team: Would you happen to have a day or two for me to finish this last minute unit review before posting the new version?

Yeah, i have to wait and get all of Sparth's btns in anyways before i can do the FPK's.

I think if you are going to keep the 35 dll, it should be in the patch area or a 35 dll thread someplace, but not kept up to date but once a week or once every 2 weeks, because i believe you said its a pain to keep both dll's uptodate??

Since I USE a 35 dll I don't mind keeping it up to date as I go. If it's not packaged with the main (but still ON the SVN) that's not such a bad thing to have it in the modmod section for download. Maybe we need a whole subsegment of the modmod section to post ways to make the game lighter - like Sparth's file and the 35 civ dll and other 'light' adjustments.

+1 :)

I'm all for the 35 Civ dll and other light adjustments too.

You are probably going to have to do what I did. Delete the folder and start over. When I try to update now ( about a minute ago), it merely shows no new updates as 7781 is the last one from Saturday. If you have a fast connection, even a full download should take only 10-20 minutes.
