C2C SVN Changelog

just a quick question here is there a way to save BUG settings? because as hydro just mentioned you lose them between svn updates and you also(at least I do) lose them when the game crashes.

I recall there is a folder ....\Mods\Caveman2Cosmos\UserSettings that contains BUG settings and F1 advisor settings. When I create a new C2C folder via SVN update I manually create the new Caveman2Cosmos folder, copy the UserSettings folder, and then perform the SVN update. My BUG and F1 settings are retained.

*sigh* Lets try this again.
I'm playing v26. The Lets Play game is SVN.
Both games have terrain damage on (but I would guess this doesn't matter in regards to the information provided by the text when hovering over the promotion when determining what promotion to select for your unit).

My (v26) game, Desert I promotion hover text indicates that it will protect my unit from desert damage. His (Lets Play SVN) game Desert I promotion hover text does not mention the terrain damage protection.

Q: With the SVN, does Desert I/II/III (and matching cold promotions) provide protection from terrain damage?

If yes, why isn't it (apparently) showing up in the hover text when choosing promotions?

If no, why was this feature of the promotion removed?

Yes ...

- Desert Combat I = Protects from Desert Damage
- Desert Combat II = Protects from Dune Damage
- Desert Combat IIII = Protects from Salt Flats Damage

- Arctic Combat I = Protects from Tundra Damage
- Arctic Combat II = Protects from Permafrost Damage
- Arctic Combat III = Protects from Ice Damage

It says in the civpedia. I am not sure why he cannot see it in the hover over text.

In short as long as the Terrain Damage is on then it will work for those specific terrains. Thus if you have only Desert Combat I then it will only protect you from Desert Terrain and not the other 5 possible terrains that give damage.

We clear now?

Yes, so it's just a display issue now. If I had to guess I would think it might have to do with the new combat module? Maybe the reference text didn't get copied.

Nope, won't be that. If anyone happens to have a save with a unit that should be displaying this text but isn't, please post it.

I'm thinking what may be happening is that if the in-game option of terrain damage isn't ON then then any displays relating to it may be disabled as well, which would be appropriate.

I got terrain damge on, but the tooltip of the terrain specific promotions dees not say anything anymore about the imunity.
As far as I remember this came with the combat mod , but I didn´t report it, because I think it was a delibarete change.

As for saves: The save I postd in the bugs and crashed thread with a crahs that was fixed by Koshling already had that tooltip issue.

I can take a look at the display issue on that but I can assure that nothing was done in the combat mod that would've directly influenced that area except perhaps for a filter on cold damage that was put in place perhaps accidentally interrupting terrain damage displays outright.

Since i have only gotten back 3 PM's on my default to hide stuff from the BUG button, i will start doing that tomorrow then. . . SO

EDIT: Added a whole lot of building sounds, that i found that were some how missing before??? They still need to be added also.

EDIT EDIT: Added back in the AudioDefines.xml AS2D sounds for "new"buildings

Dang forgot one word change.

Just pushed to SVN (3929):
  • Tweaked AI logs to reduce spam and provide a little more unit distribution info
  • Reworked unit save to reduce growth in save files from combat mod

Save game size had grown quite a bit for mature game with a large number of units, owing to combat mod changes. I have reworked the save format to not save all the sparse arrays in full. Load is backward compatible.

Update:

-New Gamespeed and Era modifiers.

See here for more details.

NOTE: These changes will not stop a game from loading. However, I do not make any guarantees about the balance of games started under the new settings and continued under these new settings, so if you are in doubt I'd suggest a new game. This is unfortunate but unavoidable given the nature of the changes.

In addition to Il Principe's save file, here is a save file focusing directly on what I understand to be the issue. My save is from SVN 3923.

The first screen shot shows that desert damage is enabled. The second screen shot is hovering over the Desert Combat I promotion button, and there is no mention of the reduced damage. The third screen shot shows that the Civlopedia is also missing the text.

You can then take the Desert Combat I promotion and move the 7th Recon onto the desert and the promotion DOES provide the protection. But only us craftly wiley veterans of C2C would know that it is this promotion gives that protection.

OK here it is, the Default for UserSetting now . . you want it different YOU change it from now on then . .

These are the Usersettings that i warned everyone about in the PM's i sent out and only got 3 back, all saying it was ok, because of the complaints about hiding un-used/obsolete buildings/units etc. . . Just do what i do and make a Desktop folder (pic 1) and put YOUR setting there each game you re-start, like i have been doing before. . .

I am sure that i am going to hear about this now . . .:p

@WimpyTheWarrior

I checked an old copy of RoM/AND which had the most basic versions of those terrain promotions. Looks like it just never said that it protected from terrain damage. I swear it did at some point, but I guess not. Thus I guess that feature should be listed but is not.

Either way its on my list of things to fix now. Shouldn't be too tough a task.
