NEW Hidden Nationality Unit map interaction rules.

  • New game rule: HN units that capture a city will make the city a Barbarian city rather than their owner's.

  • New Unit Tags:
    • bExcile: Makes the unit incapable of being inside its owner's borders. Will transport to the exterior of the borders as soon as trained.
    • bPassage: Makes the unit capable of utilizing the benefits of a Rite of Passage despite potentially being capable of attacking.
    • bNoNonOwnedCityEntry: Makes the unit incapable of entering another player's city without attacking.
    • bBarbCoExist: Makes the unit incapable of attacking or being attacked by non-animal barbarians and capable of entering their cities peacefully.
    • bBlendIntoCity: Makes the unit capable of entering any city, even those their owner is at war with. Will also stay in an opponent city if there when war is declared.
    • bUpgradeAnywhere: Makes the unit act as if its player has the Progressist trait ability to upgrade anywhere.

  • New Promotion and Unitcombat tags
    • iExcileChange: Set to 1 for add, 0 for default/neither, and -1 to remove the status granted to units by the above noted bExcile tag.
    • iPassageChange: Set to 1 for add, 0 for default/neither, and -1 to remove the status granted to units by the above noted bPassage tag.
    • iNoNonOwnedCityEntryChange: Set to 1 for add, 0 for default/neither, and -1 to remove the status granted to units by the above noted bNoNonOwnedCityEntry tag.
    • iBarbCoExistChange: Set to 1 for add, 0 for default/neither, and -1 to remove the status granted to units by the above noted bBarbCoExist tag.
    • iBlendIntoCityChange: Set to 1 for add, 0 for default/neither, and -1 to remove the status granted to units by the above noted bBlendIntoCity tag.
    • iUpgradeAnywhereChange (promos only): Set to 1 for add, 0 for default/neither, and -1 to remove the status granted to units by the above noted bUpgradeAnywhere tag.
    Note that these tags are integers but should be kept to the 1 through -1 range as they are a newly introduce method of using one tag to add or remove a boolean value on a unit.

  • New Game Option:
    • Amnesty: This option makes it impossible for your Hidden Nationality units to attack units that cannot attack or units with the passage ability (noted above) that are using Rite of Passage (or open borders) to be within your lands.

      This one's for you DH!


This is all fairly well tested on this end but if you notice some very odd behaviors, by all means report them as these kinds of adjustments CAN create unanticipated results. I don't think it's very likely that it'll be causing strange phenomenons (though you might not anticipate some of these new ways of map interactions and THINK you've encountered a bug when it's actually by design...)

Most of these effects have not yet been added to the units, unitcombats and promos they've been designed and intended for but rather set me up for smooth implementation of the HN units under current review.

- oops contains the wild animal part of the changes to subdued animals. You will be able to get twice the :food: and :hammers: you should get from animals until I finish testing the subdued animal part of the changes and put them up on the SVN:blush:​

Should be resolved now but there could still be some other issues. Still working through all the crashes reported to check to see if they're all solved. Probably for the most part they are but there's an odd v36 crash to look at too and I know that can't be part of this. Anyhow... here's the pill for this disease:

UPDATE: All reported crashes I could check (aside from the v36 report) played through fine with this fix. This also resolved the animals not attacking issue.

Established the Game Option but is currently hidden. Unit, unitcombat and promotion tags have been initialized in full including text and AI. Actual alternative visibility processing still pending development. Much of the XML for the option will await the implementation of the current unit review. After the review is complete, the option can go into play. This option has been planned for the Naval review implementation as well but that will still take some time to resolve in full. In the meantime, minimal xml for naval units will ensue.

(I know some of this is just for my own development notes.)

  • Subdued animals have 0 combat strength and can't be butchered.

  • Minor fix to comments in the Tech Infos file

  • Removed art for Scorpion unit (is not defined yet)

  • edit Kangaroos, Crab and Camel now have a chance of putting a bonus on the map
 
Your warnings of doom would be more helpful if you indicated which revision you thought was at fault.

  • Fix array error in autologEventManager.py - can't be tested as was caused by extra entries which have now been removed.

  • Military Captives now finish the construction of improvements in one turn and then are removed, as was intended.

  • Captives can now be traded. This is an temporary thing as I wanted to include prisoner exchange, hostages and prisoners of war at some stage.
