C2C - Tech Quote Thread

Oh, nice, welcome back. Things have advanced considerably since you left, for one I sort of took over your primary work area. (gamespeed/civic balance)

OK, now on topic. I would use Audacity if you wanted to make audio Tech Quotes, it's free and open source, as well as very powerful for an audio editor. A good headset is nice as well. I could theoretically make quotes, but I'm quite busy with my other areas of work here. (Units/Promotions/balance) If you could make some quotes that would be very nice.

Thanks. I'm not modding currently though, just trying to poke my head back in. Not even playing Civ 4 currently to be honest.

As it happens, that is EXACTLY the software I had discovered and used when first going about splicing together sound bytes for C2C.

Rasma stated above and it's been talked about before, but someone actually reading the quotes would be the ideal solution for all the various quotes we can't easily find from movies or TV. My voice is not the one to do that. I try to keep a high bar for quality, especially with C2C, and I wouldn't want a bland / dry voice to represent the mod. I think an Irish or British accent would sound much nicer.

I have noticed that there are many messed up quotes they either do one of the following ...

1. Do not match their audio.

2. Are repeated over and over on other techs.

Could someone go in and track down these problems with existing techs?

As for Vanilla V27:

- When you research Tool-Making the Quote and the Audio for that quote are different.
- Natural Pigments and Groundstone uses the same quote.
- Same as Chopping and Scarping.
- And Adhetives and Binding.
- The Quote for Spearmaking is also used at least twice, but I don't now what was the 2nd Tech with that quote.
- Elephant Domestication: Audio-Quote and Quote are differnt
- Camel Domestication has a Quote that is already used (I think with Horseback Riding)
- Candlemaking and Pottery has the same quote.
- Seafaring and Scriptures both has a different audio Quote than the written Quote.
- Currency and Trade use the same quote.
- Fermentation, Orchards and Oil Lamps uses the same quote.
- Plogh and at least agriculture use the same quote.

If you want a quote which which makes more sense to those unfortunates who haven't read the book yet ( ), then an extract from the (in story) Guide might be better:

I am looking through the Xml's doing a row per day (currently done row 1 to 3) and am working on row 4 today (will upload in 8 hours). By two weeks all prehistoric techs will be sorted out! After that ill get to work on the ancient era.
