C2C - Transhuman Era

Also, Artificial Photosynthesis and Molecular Consortium are both at X92 Y17. Should we move one of them? I think we can move Artificial Photosynthesis up one row to Y15 without a problem.

The rest of the tech changes look fine as far as I can tell. However it seems like Jovian Probe Exploration is a bit far down the tree for just one requirement. It should either be moved to X85 or have an additional tech requirement from farther down the tree. Also the name should be "Jovian Exploration" but MrAzure never changed it.

Sure, I'll move it backwards to X85. It was really the AURA Command requirement that was really pushing it forward. We can always add another requirement later.

I was thinking the name Gas Giant Exploration would work better, just because I don't think we should assume that in the course of the history of the game, the Greeks, Romans, and/or Hellenism would have a superior position. Gas Giant Exploration would be a completely religion-neutral name. If you really want to keep Jovian Exploration, I can live with it.

An arcology is just an atmospheric self containment field isn't it?

No an Arcology is a city sized building.

I'm doing the XML for those right now. I'll write it up. Were you planning on deleting Cruise Communities as well? We have eliminated all of its prerequisites. I would prefer it to be deleted, as I don't think it is significant enough to be a tech.

Consider that merged into Marine Architecture.

Sounds fine as long as its not overlapping anything.

"Jovian Planets" is a term for all gas giants (not just Jupiter). Just like "Terrestrial Planets" is a term for all rocky planets not just Terra (aka Earth).

Well... going off of that link, I'm not far off... it'd be a building meant to encompass the city to isolate it in all ways from the surrounding environment, including atmospherically. Theoretically, an electromagnetic bubble could not only grow as necessary but would also lend itself to the most effective means of ultimate containment. So although the concept of it being a city containment building differs a little from my presumption, the basic idea of its function is pretty much the same, completely isolate the city from its surroundings.

@Thunderbrd

Its not just plopping a bubble over a city all of arcology is one structure. Unlike say a city which is many separate structures. As wikipedia says, its general self contained by environmentally and economically. Most would have uber populations and are more than just a "bio-dome". If you have ever played Sim City 2000 then you know what I mean.

Yeah, that should go as well, I don't know why I didn't notice that earlier.

I would rather delete Molecular Consortium (what is this tech-wise?), but if you want to keep it moving it up sounds fine to me.

@Hydro:

By spacescrapers, I mean having large swathes of buildings like on Coruscant in Star Wars, and in my mind an Arcology is more of a self-contained colony for new planets, whereas spacescrapers go on far more developed planets.

Well Coruscant and the Death Star would be more Attometer Engineering i think. The Death Star for sure since its a completely artificial moon. Is Coruscant an artificial planet or just a natural planet completely covered in cities?

Natural planet, but the point was that the buildings were many miles high, and everywhere, which is what I was getting at with spacescrapers.

Question: Are we keeping Interactive Glass and Intelligent Pavement? I think there was some question there about keeping them. Also, I'm fine with deleting Molecular Consortium. I really don't know what it means either.

Those two should have been gone a month ago. :rolleyes: Typical MrAzure, to say he was going to do something and never do it.

No problem. I'll toss both of them.

Now, we need new prerequisites for Wireless Electricity. The current set was Blue Electromagnetic Pulse + Intelligent Pavement + Sophisticated Lasers, all of which are gone. The most previous set is Holographics + Nanogenerators + Sophisticated Lasers. Do you think Holographics + Nanogenerators is enough?

I personally like both Interactive Glass and Intelligent Pavement. I know we could either make a new building or enhance existing roads at Intelligent Pavement tech so it will have some use right off the bat. Interactive Glass is a bit trickier since ti involves so many things. In short I say keep those techs.

Something about Intelligent Pavement doesn't work for me, though. I think it's too close to Automated Urbanization. Whatever we were going to do at Intelligent Pavement could easily slide over to Automated Urbanization.

Ah ok. I guess consider Intelligent Pavement merged into Automated Urbanization then. I can either make an Intelligent Pavement building at that tech or give the Asphalt Roads a boost at that tech.

OK, I'll keep Interactive Glass and we can move anything that would be at Intelligent Pavement to Automated Urbanization. I'll try and write up the rest of this -- maybe later tonight, if not then, by tomorrow. Much of what is left are the black technologies that we need to keep, although I will probably have an idea for what to do with the Lunar techs.

I still am not seeing the difference. Here is a 2 mile high arcology. Whats the difference between an Arcology (aka a type of Megastructure) and a "Spacescraper"?

Corusant's Spacespacers can be HUNDERDS or even thousands of KILOMETERS in height. The city itself is probably about 5% of Corusant's diameter. However, this is a world at the center of a civilization controlling half a galaxy. It has a esitmated population of 3 trillion...a lot more than you'll ever likely see in your entire empire once the multiple maps work.
