My sailors were mistaken, they confused a giant bay with a land separation. 
We continue to circumnavigate our continent, with no sign of another.
Our wise men have become sufficiently impertinent to ask:

As I recall, I said I need to catch up with the Maya's research.
I said this because I have met the Maya, and they have more research than me.
You then asked what did I know about your research.
I said: 'nothing. I only know about the Maya'
During this exchange I was assuming you were not the Maya, but the Inca.
You came back with

This struck me as a bit dull, so instead I chose to mis-quote Wittgenstein.

However, I've thought of a snappier two step resolution to this.
1) You tell me your research
2) I'll tell you if I need to catch up.
If we share it with the others, that will be fair.
