CCM2 Epic Mod

What's CAII?
Civ Assist II

Anyone got any tips for winning CCM 2.5 when your start is almost exclusively Grassland (after a lot of Jungle/Marsh chopping?), your one Iron-Hill got exhausted, and you can't plant new Forests until the Industrial Age?

I have Pop20 towns barely scraping together 10 SPT even after building every shield-booster available to a Middle-Aged Republic...

@Civinator:
I understand why you made Grass unable to be mined, but maybe it would be worth adding 1 shield to the Grassland base-output to compensate? As it is, Plains are now far preferable tiles to have in a BFC...

In the early versions of testing CCM 1 the planting of forests was possible much earlier in the game (as it is in C3C, too). The AI in CCM 1 liked to plant forests everywhere possible. When you entered the industrial age, nearly every tile possible was plastered with forests. This made tanks and many other units with MV2 or greater nearly useless and the testers, including me, angry. That is why forests in CCM are coming lately in the game.

Until now, no problems were reported about the arrival time of forests in CCM. If one shield would be added to every grasland tile, this would be too powerful for the balance of the game, taking into account that there are also grasland tiles that start with the additional one-shield-advantage. To have a grasland start with only zero shields in the city radius is very unlucky - and I cannot remember any start with such a constellation. The same is true when jungle terrain is converted to grasland terrain. Please don´t forget that cities surrounded by grasland tiles can grow much faster than cities in plains and can reach specialists more early than cities in plains, and one of these specialists is the engineer, coming in era 1 in CCM and providing cities with additional shields. It can also help to set the starting settings to an age with more mountains, so I never needed this in my games.

So, my understanding is that, for some reason, CCM3 got delayed as a release or is no longer available for download. Is that right, and if so does anyone else know when CCM3 will be out?

CCM 3 is available for download since the end of June 2024.
