Cairo sucks

Red Stranger, visa proof please.

People should be annoyed if people go to their country as tourists and then expect them to speak their language. If an American tourist goes to France he's expected to have some way to communicate what he needs. And if he goes on asking everyone do they speak English he has no right to be angry at anyone if they don't.

Speaking English and speaking French is two different issues. Being able to speak English is a tool to success in the world. Notice the countries that are successful are the ones that make English a mandatory course. If you're into fashion then you learn to speak French, but if you want to go places, you speak English.
I agree I bare some responsibility for not speaking Arabic, but the Arabs that don't learn to speak English are at a greater disadvantage.

I've been 5 times to Cairo for my job. Only once I could make a quick tour of the city and see the pyramids from afar.

I never had any real problem there. However, as I saw mostly the airport an my hotel which is close to the airport, it's hardly a very thorough experience

A disadvantage at what? Becoming waiters at emigre/tourist restaurants?

Seriously, I'm only glad I got to post in this before the inevitable closing. We need a :tearsofjoy: smiley.
