Haven't seen this topic in a good while, so here it is again! Post your favorite strips, or at least tell us what happens panel-for-panel. :)

The greatest comic strip ever. I think it should qualify as literature.

Spaceman Spiff: Let's dispense with the pleasantries, you twisted space crustacean. What is it you want from me?
Weird Bug Thing: A summary of Lewis and Clark's expedition to the Pacific!
Calvin: Ha! Wild zontars couldn't drag that information out of me! Do your worst!
Miss Wormwood: You didn't read the assignment, did you, Calvin?

Spiff rocked. :D Would that Watterson would do a spinoff strip of him like Breathed does with Opus of Bloom County.

I have an affinity for snowman-themed strips. ;)

Calvin and Hobbes is great. My favourite strips are the ones with Calvin making weird snowmen.

I missed Calvin and Hobbes. To bad the cartoonist stoped making them in 1996.

And yet more snowmen

I like the "Torment of Existence Weighed Against the Horror of Nonbeing" sculpture.

My favourite Calvin & Hobbes 'snowman' strip had them attempting to build the world's largest snowman. After rolling up a pretty good snowball until they couldn't push it anymore, Calvin said, "That's fine. Leave it here; we have to make nine more of these."

Hobbes: "Nine more!! What for?

Calvin: "This is just one of its toes!

After which Hobbes promptly shoves Calvin head first into the snowball.

that is easily my favorite.

a non-snowman strip:
calvin: they say the world's a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everyone is ad-libbing his lines
hobbes: i guess thats why its hard to tell if its a tragedy or a farce

I searched for "Calvin and Hobbes" on Google, and one of the first items was an analysis of "Fight Club" arguing that Jack and Tyler are actually a matured Calvin and a long-repressed Hobbes. It was pretty convincing, although it's clear that since the figures and their problems are somewhat archetypal, Calvin and Hobbes aren't actually the inspiration for the film (or book) characters.

I saw that article as well when looking for strips. It's scary, and while they make a good case, I always figured it was over the top. :crazyeye:

The above is a link to a batch of ships that showcase a very funny story where Calvin rips his pants. :D

calvin to moe: your simian countenance suggests a lineage unusually rich in species diversity.
moe: what?
calvin tossing him his lunch money: here ya go.
calvin: that was worth 25 cents

Some of my favorites is the one in which Calvin asks his father why old pictures are black and white and his father gives him ridiculous explanation. The snowmen ones are always funny. Another favorite is when Calvin clones himself.

C&H are the best, I've been trying to get my hands on all the books he made. It is sad that he stopped making them but I'm glad that he got out while he was on top and not keep on going and going and going and going like Garfield

Anyone seen Fight Club? Some think it is suppose to be grown up Calvin and Hobbes. :crazyeye:
