As promised, here is some of my feeback, advice, requests for a revamped Camelot!, having played a number of games (on random map) recently.
...
As noted, Merlin's Hall should go obsolete before long. It's way too powerful otherwise.
Palisades are made obsolete by Construction, but Walls can only be built where a Palisade has first been built, which means you cannot even build walls after Construction if you don't happen to have a Palisade already in the city.
Aqueducts aren't needed. Cities grow indefinitely without them.
Pollution should be turned off. It's highly annoying and quite illogical in this context.
Money and production become insane by late game, most things taking one or two turns to build. There are perhaps a few too many superfluous buildings adding happiness and science in the late game long after they are needed.
Are Stables' and Marketplaces' effects cumulative or redundant? I believe they are redundant...you can have one or the other, but having both is unneccessary. This leads to wasteful building of both in a city. I'd change them in some fashion to make them unique and non-redundant.
I can't tell you how much I love and employ Grande Trebuchets. They are a great weapon of war in general, and can save your tail if you don't have access to horses for knights. They are kind of overpowered, but I'd hate to lose them. The AI does not consider them a potential offensive weapon, so does not put them to good use like you can offensively.
I STILL have not been able to win this game on the Grail Quest. I'm still not sure what I'm trying to do except explore everywhere with Great Knights and hope something becomes apparent somehow. Someone always accidentally happens upon the quest fulfillment before I can. Very frustrating. Granted, I am playing a random map now, and it's probably better implemented when controlled on the Britain map.
Oh, I fixed the Eoganacht-related crash I mentioned. I play on a Mac. Apparently the accent over the e in Eoganacht did not render properly in my keyboard mapping and in the Pedialicons.txt file, I did a find replace, to properly render them again, and voila, no more crashes during Eoganacht diplomacy.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on these suggestions. I expect some have already been mentioned, planned, or implemented, however far along the revision has come. I'd encourage you to finish it up, and please be sure to include a random biq with it again, if you don't mind.
Cheers.
