The Excalibur entry is a combination of things. Here are two of my favorite illustrations:

I like those illustrations, although most of what I have in CAMELOT! is more in the fantasy realm of things. But as I'm thinking about it, perhaps the update could be made really different, almost like a new scenario, by changing the style of the graphics. Hmm...

You know, with all of this "bringing the goods" as Rambuchan so aptly states, you should be making us some sort of tremendous scenario yourself! Something epic.

Excellent example. I will admit that by the time I got around to doing the 'pedia entries, I was pretty burnt out on the whole thing, especially as I really ended up doing most of the scenario twice (did something the editor didn't like which caused the game to crash, never could figure it out, had to start over). I like the entry you have for Excalibur. Is that your own, or from somewhere else? I took a lot of stuff off Wikipedia, but found its not always complete. The civilopedia is one of my main focuses for the CAMELOT! update.
Thanks again for the suggestion.
And thank you very much for including CAMELOT! in you signature. That is honorable company.

I really like to edit the civilopedia ( :crazyeye: ) and if you need any help, just give me a shout.

Azmorg - I made this image into a tech icon and then I thought of your scenario and was wondering if you wanted it as a wonder splash for your update? Its set to 256c 320x320 already and the palette is corrected.

That's a really good image. You do, however, have to reamember that there are two versions of the Excalibur story; A) The Sword and the Stone Excalibur and the B) Lady of the Lake gives Excalibur to Arthur story. He might be using the latter.

Personally, having Excalibur sticking out of the water with the hand of the Lady of the Lake showing (Maybe with Arthur in the bakcground) would be cool. :D

Anyway, good work.

:hmm: Doesn't it get drawn from the stone first and then thrown into the lake only to be returned later by the lady of the lake? ;)

DUDE!! That is, like, whoa, totally awsome! (to be said with the most Sean Penn type accent from his early work in Fast Times).
Seriously, that is a killer splash. Did you make that from scratch? How? What program? I'm really impressed. It has a very good chance of being used in the update.

LM:
My take on the Arthurian Legends is that the sword pulled out of the stone, when Arthur was younger, was not the same sword that was given to him by the Lady of the Lake, although, there are many who say it was. I wonder if this offers the possibility of having two sword wonders? Hmm...

Unfortunately I have no artistic abilities whatsoever, just a knack for finding and editing images without loosing the level of detail they had to begin with. Lots of cut,paste,crop,touch-up,and re-size. I use paint shop pro 9.

If you want the splash file pm me your email address and I'll send it to you.

I like the 2 wonders Idea: first in the stone> rendered obsolete by a tech> 2nd wonder lady of the lake.

I recall seeing some usable graphics for a lady of the lake splash.I can work on that if you like.

Azmorg, I believe you are correct. He (Arthur) was said to have left the Sword in the Stone in the anvil, for that's where its rightful place was. Then Merlin took him to the 'special lake'.

Wow! Great scenario! Just playing it right now.
I noticed you are using the longboat from Kal-el for the German tribes. This boat has no death animation except a quick one made by Aaglo some years ago. I also made a death animation for it last year, when I only had PTW. Here is the demo and the file (with all flc plus modified ini), if you are interested in it:

Never noticed that before.
DL's your animation & installed.
Thank you very much.
And thank you for the compliment. Drop on by after you've played and let us know how it went.

Here's what I could find for lady of the lake

Let me know if this works...

For those who want to fix the problem, go to the Pediaicons file, find the following in the wonder splash section, towards the bottom of the file,
#WON_SPLASH_BLDG_Zeus
art\wonder splash\Beowulf.pcx

then copy the following and paste it over the above,

#WON_SPLASH_BLDG_Beowulf
art\wonder splash\Beowulf.pcx

Do I need a certain program to view and edit a pcx file? I tried opening it with notepad but it only shows me gibberish, not a single recognizable word.

A pcx is a picture, not text. Unfortunately it's an unusual format that not many paint programs can read. The main free one that can do so is the Gimp, which you can download from its website.

But Azmorg's advice in the quoted passage refers to the Pediaicons file, which is a txt file. This file tells the game where to find various graphics and suchlike. So you edit that file (in Notepad) in the way suggested.

My bad, I just misunderstood Azmorg and looked in the wrong folders, got it now, thanks.

I was digging around in my ancient PTW folders and I found a prehistoric label.txt file in a abandoned Camelot scenario I was once making (3 years ago). The only big difference was that I replaced some of the things that the leaders say at the end with quotes from Monty Python, like "Tis Only a Flesh Wound" and "This one's for Your Mother". You can have it if you want.

Azmorg, what a great mod you've made. I'm in Kirkland. Nice to see a local do something so impressive. I've been playing on my Mac with Civ III Complete, and I keep hitting a fatal error as follows:

That icon IS present. It was a small é rather than a capital É which I corrected, doubting it would make any difference. It doesn't. When I pull up the Embassy screen and the Eoganachts become visible at the bottom, the small icon for the embassy screen isn't found and crashes the game. There is an imminent patch for the Mac Civ III Complete that is supposed to fix some kinds of error where the game gets confused and can't find things through the path the way it works on Windows, best I understand it, but is there anything else anyone can figure out in the meantime to remedy this? The Pendragon.pcx graphic would also crash my game, so I downloaded the corrected graphic, but haven't been able to test it yet. I never quite make it to end game because of these crashes, and I can't really do diplomacy which becomes important at the end when massive warfare breaks out.

Anyone using the Mac version that has this mod working to completion? I am also discussing this on a thread in the Mac forum.

Cheers,

Doug

Hey Doug,

Thank you for the kind words. Sorry about the crashes. I'm not familiar at all with how Civ plays on Mac, so I can't help you with the problem of the supposedly missing icon. As you've stated, it is there, and the Pediaicons entry is correct. So it must be a Mac issue. Guess you'll just have to get a Windows PC.

One possibility might be to rename the Eoganacht in the editor. If that doesn't work, perhaps renaming all the Pediaicon entries as well. If you need help with how to do this, give me a pm.

PS: Sorry about the delay in reply. Just got back from vacationing on the Oregon Coast.
