Can you continue games started in Civ3 in PTW?

Got PTW 2 days ago, and am trying to continue my previously started game in PTW. I got through 1 turn but now after the game showed my automated moves it has a message in the lower right hand window to please wait. I waited 5 minutes. then hit ctrl + Alt + Del, and it showed Civ3PTW not responding, restarted, reloaded and got the same result. I am playing in the 14th century, didn't have to wait before. AMD 1700+, 500mg, Win M.E.
So it looks like you can't continue games started in Civ3 and use the new features.
Can you continue previously started games?

I would assume not, but I can't check since my copy of ptw is still sitting on my shelf as I try to find out why I can not play.

I loaded a civ3 game in PTW. It was OK for a few turns and then PTW crashed.

I did it with no problem. Played half the game in Civ3, got PtW, and played the rest with it. Note that Civ3 and PtW have different save folders, so you have to find the correct folder and file.

I started the game in the orignal Civ save file. But then after a turn saved it to PTW saved file. Then had the problem. Don't think that would cause the problem. hum

I had no problem with it.

You shouldn't have any problem playing old saved games.

I seem to be having a problem. I tried restarting in PTW from a earlier save. Still Froze on me. If this is a bug. I think it wont be the top priority. So I will just finish the game in Civ 3.

edited to add:
Well looks like I got it progressing with PTW, am now passing the mid 14th century. I am not sure what the problem was. But after many tries with different previous saves got it to work.
