There is a file on my computer that can't be deleted, copied, cut, renamed, or accessed/read in anyway. Any ideas on how to get rid of it?

Windows XP BTW.

I have Unlocker for these kinda things. It shows which processes block a file-deletion and allows you to release it

Unlocker

oh, and it's freeware :)

Didn't work. There is nothing that is keeping the file from being deleted except that it just won't let you access it in anyway possible. That program will be useful though, so thanks ;).

There is no process's blocking and it doesn't give any error when I try to delete it. It just doesn't give me the option to delete it.. and when I click and press the delete button.. nothing happens.

start -> run -> command.com

go into the folder where the file is and type:

del filename

Try this: MoveonBoot
It pretty much deletes a file before windows or anything else can lock it up.

Im not sure if it will work though, since im thining it pretty much does the same thing as unlocker. Still, its worth a try

Tried it and it gave me the same error as unlocker (file name is invalid). Any other ideas?

did you try putting the filename in " ?

I think the parser might be stumbling over that ' in the filename :)

I finally manged to get the file deleted with this program. Incase anyone else has the same problem.

There are many spywares, viruses, worms and troyans which can cause this kind of problem since they can make processes which can't be seen in Task Manager so you can't disable them. I recommend using Spyware Doctor of some similar software for prevention and cleaning of those. Also be careful while browing the internet, whenever you see some extra offer or free porn banner its very possible to be malware.
