CarmenNES03: The New Dawn Preview

And remember, this is over several million nukes. New York alone had over 7 nukes flattening it. You can imagine London.

Radiation still lingers. And remember, its wholly possible that some places are uninhabitable simply because they cannot support agriculture. London is such a place.

But if you insist in being a British snob ( :joke: ), I'll remove the radiation. Although you can't blame me if the water is contaminated or that an uncovered nuke explodes. :p

Got it. Oh, and thanks for calling me a British snob. :D

Well, the fact there's already one going on with the same name. Couldn't he at least wait for that one to finish first :p?

Decloak: lol.

2nd'd Perhaps thousand's would be more appropriate. But really, until we see a map, theres little speculation we can do.

Since the surviving population will be so small, it seems silly to use a world map.. unless you do many BT's over a few thousand years, we will never develope back into nations.. I say focus on "tribes" emerging in North Armerica or something?

Does it really make sense to have a world map rather than a more localised map suitable for tribal warfare? Unless you are going to do this NES several thousand years after your other.. there won't be enough humans for anything other than isolated villages?

Decloak: At the height of the Cold War, there were roughly 80,000 to 120,000. Today, there are maybe 25,000 to 30,000.

A tactical exchange of a few dozen is enough to affect global weather notably. Several hundreds to thousands would cripple ecosystems for a number of millennia if not tens or hundreds. Tens or hundreds of thousands would basically reduce Earth's surface life back to fungi and insects.

Yea, you already posted this.. and when are you going to correct the typo in your signature?

In some way or another, Big Ben survived the holocaust. However it grew dipatalted over time, until the humans began to recognise it as importance, maybe even as a way to god. So they formed a nation. They have yet to know of British history, but they're on the right track.

How did it survive the Holocaust if it was stealth bombed by the Ural federation? Sorry, I forgot to tell you that...

I noticed that, but I was too lazy to mention it...

I know Symphony, he-who-gives-this-speech, isn't commenting on realism in this NES :). Ghost Rider, remember :p?

Oh yes, I am a hypocrite extraordinaire.

There's a difference between asking an audience to suspend disbelief, and complete and utter fantasy. Where the delineation is depends on the material. You can take the first so far before you fall off the cliff into the other. In the case of Ghost Rider, it's pretty far into it, because the basic idea is really crazy. Here, it isn't very far at all.

Millions of nuclear weapons, when humanity has maybe gotten to barely a tenth of that at most--even in a primitive setting where for some reason precision is deemphasized and aliens for some reason want to harvest Earth for natural resources when there are seven other totally empty planets and hundreds of thousands of smaller objects--remains off the deep end relative to its setting.

My stance has been and continues to be that unless you make it clear they don't, the laws of reality and common sense continue to apply. This game set has never bothered doing that to any major capacity and so I feel quite entitled to point out bad facts and logic. If you'd like to find where I have deviated from this position for at least the past 12 months or so, feel free.
