Caveman 2 Cosmos

Yeah, just got that sorted. Had to check and open ports and other internet/firewall/protocol related things. You should have it on the way now if you check your torrent program.

Cheers

It's going...sort of, it's hanging around 22-24 hours but as long as it actually downloads who cares how long it takes :)

Edit: Ok, just settled around 6-7 hours...Much more reasonable :)

Edit 2: I think it's going to work, it's currently done 22.4 MB of the 1.15 GB...and still going strong :)

Nah, I think it's good, got a second seed that pushed it up to a little over an hour left. Might actually get to try it out tonight :)

The workaround that got posted for removing the negative traits works. I have run into a bug though, where playing as Lincoln has my flag completely white. It isn't affecting any AI civs though so knowing whose units are whose is unhindered.

No crashes so it's not a big deal.

@C2C Team

Good job guys. In my current game I was cut off from expanding and was forced to go into turtle mode to try to catch up tech wise. I have been trading a lot more than I normally do since I do not have too many resources or techs. The gold has been much better to where I never have too much but can still keep it at 100% science.

I took 2 cities from a minor civ (which started as a barbarian) which helped me expand a little. I am squished between the Huns and the French and am playing (as always) the Romans. Luckly a desert blocks the French but the Huns have expanded and bottle necked off a lot of land. So I have been keeping them happy with me so not to go to war just yet.

However ironically I made a bunch of Bandit Riders and have been pillaging their land even though were at "peace". Once I have built up enough troops and taken out their keep resources I would like to invade and take some of their cities. They have so many and I have so little. If I can just get some I will be in better shape. I do not plan to completely conquer them, but cut down their huge expansive empire a little.

Meanwhile on the other side of the French the Aztecs, Cherokee and Mayans have been having a never ending 3 way war against each other. The Aztecs and Cherokee are the top 2 civs BTW. Also the Polynesians are somewhere I cannot see yet and the Germans (a minor civ) live in a tundra land across the bay from me. I tried to take over them when invading the other minor civ (with were the Mongols), but failed badly so I gave up on an over seas invasion for now.

I am in mid classical and ran into a huge sickness problem for awhile. Luckily I have been able to curb it with Ancient Medicine and lots of different health buildings. Crime is low (around 100 in the huge cities) and other properties have not been a problem yet. I have gotten a few wonders and founded Tengalism and Kemetism. Shamanism is the top religion where most civs have it. I am Tengalism right now but would like to switch over after the Hun invasion is over.

It has been a fun and challenging game. I do not feel too powerful nor do I feel too frustrated either. Great job guys!

Oh also I have not needed the viewports yet since I cannot leave the old world yet. I suspect I will need to use them in the future when I am exploring the globe. Not too much lag either so I am very happy. Also the new leaderhead images are I have to get use too since I started the game with them looking different. I almost forget who was who.

So an update ...

I built up my troops and have been easily taking out the Huns cities. Ironically I also got the Hun culture so I have been using their Unique units to take them over. Crazy no?

I am up to 15 cities thanks to them and suspect I can get up to 18. I may need to switch from Monarchy to Republic to avoid any revolutions from too many cites. This has been very fun. I totally forgot about the ocean and the Huns got some good jabs at my minimal navy. Luckily most of their boats are on the other side of the landmass and cannot get to me without having to go WAY around. I have their only port city to my bay so no more boats from them. :D

Can I ask please.

What is SVN

What is this recalculate thing (ctrl shift t)

What are viewports

It works! And good god, this thing is truly a beast of a mod, didn't realize quite how huge it was until I took a brief wander through the Civilopedia. I am going to have some fun with this :D

How do I activate viewports? The civilopedia entry is useful in telling me what they are and what they do, but doesn't tell me how I actually turn them -on-.

What is SVN
I was totally confused with this myself, but from what I have gathered:
It is some kind of program which allows you to immediately share changes to the game and in turn use changed files of it. So some kind of way to collectively mod and play.
When it comes to versions SVN is that way a pseudonym for beta.

Hi folks,

This is my first post on this forum. I've been playing RoM for quite some time and, since recently C2C. These mods are really great. I still think it is a better play than Civ 5. Hope I'm not hurting anyone's feelings there. I don't see myself switching over; even though I did purchase Civ 5... Go figure.

Anyway, I was playing a v24 game and just updated to v25. I did the recalc of my save game and all of the sudden the flags on my units are white and no longer the American flag. The only other civ I've discovered to date is the Chinese and their flags are just fine. Anyone else having this issue? And, more importantly, how might I go about fixing this (small) issue.

At a guess some civs got remapped from your old game because the set of civs now present is slightly different (if it can't find a definition for one that's in use it chooses another to 'take over'). This might have caused colour/emblem clashes and forced a new flag on some civs. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about it I don't think except learn to love white ;)

@All:

Please check out the C2C FAQs to see how to enable Viewports, that should be all people's first stop before asking a question. It is simple enough, and only needs to be done once for non-SVN users.

Edit: It'd probably be a good idea to add the tidbit on how to enable it on the civilopedia entry too, though.

Done now on the SVN.

It's definitely a bug since it happens on a new game as well. Posted to v25 bug thread too.

Done now on the SVN.

I would revise the title of the thread to C2C - FAQs - New Users & Common Questions.
It might draw more of the right people than just FAQs.
You could do a C2C thread called
C2C - Start Here
To prep people in order,
1. what is C2C?
2. Requirements
3. Download
4. Things to know 1st!
Buildings, gold balance, ai tweaking, controversial subjects, etc.
5 Common questions
6. Alway WIP - work in progress. Latest stable version - x.
7. What you can do to make C2c better : play test, participate, help
8. Current Priorities and exciting new features. (subject to constant change)
9. Play long enough to get feel for the deeper features.
10. Full feature set and credits

This could be a simple quick start for people, or simple philosophy to be able to jump into a stable version.

It could keep things simple, organized and focused.

People can also dive in deep into the svn, to get the cutting edge evolving experience.
Organize the introduction and people will know what to expect and then they won't have a reason to be confused, or wonder why balancing needs to continue. Better requires ongoing and improved tweaking and experimentation. just my thoughts on the matter. Might eliminate some ongoing questions from recurring.

@rightfuture:

I'd love to change the name to "C2C FAQs - New Players read this", but I'd need a Mod to do that for me. In regards to the other things, we already have threads for most of those, so I just link to the pre-existing threads.
