Caveman 2 Cosmos

I just started a new game in th prehistoric period and was given "Nomadic Tradition" and "Gathering" for free. Thinking I had done something wrong I tried again with the same result! Is this a new change? What happened to the free gatherer you used to get at "Gathering"? I do not like this change. :(

When did this happen????

Quick question - I was playing an Epic/Immortal game, and on turn 50 the difficulty was decreased to Emperor. Did I accidentally choose a game option that did this? Thanks.

I had been looking at another mod - for pillage, naturally. ;) If the level of difficulty gives gathering it should also give a free wanderer and gatherer also.

Probably. 'Flexible difficulty' is the option that dos that (it moves you up or down depending on how you are doing with respect to the AI players). It's changeable in the BUG options.

I noticed a while back that Praetyre changed some of the Era music soundtrack lists considerably. I have reversed some of these changes on the SVN because it left the Ancient era (and the Prehistoric to a lesser extent) underserved in the music department. I also happen to much enjoy AS2D_SONG_CONQUESTS_FANTASY1 and AS2D_SONG_CONQUESTS_FANTASY2, and they were removed from all eras. :(

That is not true; both Conquests_Fantasy songs are present in the Medieval era. I am willing to supply 16 new/rearranged from Warlords royalty-free Prehistoric and 20 Ancient tracks if there is a consensus that these eras are too scant.

Well please check my changes, I don't think they are anything that would be out of place. But I got tired after a while of almost constant drum music in the Ancient Era.

Keep in mind that part of my goal for changes was to ensure that each era's soundtrack would be totally unique; this naturally will lead to a winnowing of total songcount per era.

As for the songs:
CIV III Modern Middle East is a deceptively complex melody; there are several riffs and rhythms clearly identifiable as being of the Indian subcontinent, and while it's drumbeat places it as firmly Ancient, not Classical, it still seems both too culturally specific and too sophishticated to be of the Stone Age. The Native American tracks don't have this same issue with cultural specificity, since that society stagnated at a Neolithic/Chalcolithic era (late Prehistoric/early Ancient) for the sum of it's existence anyway. With Prehistoric, I like to think primal, animalistic and tribal beats.

Both incarnations of Conquests Fantasy scream Medieval to me, as blatantly as rock music screams modern and techno Transhuman; if you can tell me what you see as "Ancient" or "Classical" in them, maybe I can offer a more objective review. The imagery it calls to me is that of a stone castle surrounded by serfs, where knights ride astrode paved roads and guards with pikes in chainmail armor argue with elaborately clothed merchants.

The picture in my mind for the Conquests Fantasy songs are later ancient/classical cities with an air of glory. It could easily work for Medieval too.

Another quick question - are there options to turn on/off the various alt-history techs, like Megafauna Domestification, Steampunk, etc.?

They are turned on/off in the MLF_CIV4ModularLoadingControls.XML file found in the Assets/Modules/Alt_Timelines folder. To turn it on use 1 to turn it off use 0 eg to turn Clockpunk from on to off change
Code:
				<Module>
					<Directory>Clockpunk</Directory>
					<bLoad>[B]1[/B]</bLoad>
				</Module>
to
Code:
				<Module>
					<Directory>Clockpunk</Directory>
					<bLoad>[B]0[/B]</bLoad>
				</Module>

You can turn them off in a game if you save and exit beforehand and then load afterwards. If you turn something off you may get messages saying that units and buildings have been removed from the game.

Wohoo, just changed my empire again(I feel bored when everything goes smooth). It's one of the most enjoyable experience of Civ4 I ever had. Took control of small Rebelious faction with only 5 cities of once powerful Cherokee empire. Must admit most of the game features such as : diseases, crime and revolutins never were a problem for me and I didn't actualy kept them in mind. This were the times when I played my own empire , BUT when I took control of small faction ravaged by multiple wars and revolutions, I felt all the joy of this micromanagment :crazyeye: It is realy good expireince to end the long going war which razed all of your lands/resourses and finaly start establishing your new kingdom from the ruins managing on the edge of defeat. Thanks alot for this experience guys :goodjob:

There is 1 question I have :
My newly established rebelious faction have some HUGE financial problems, and how I found out it later that's because my city upkeeep is multiplied by 150-200 % through the empire. Not with my previous Roman empire neither with Netherlands I didn't had this problem , and upkeep was right as it's said in the description but now every building I build cost me 2x more to maintenance it. Can't get more than 54 gold income with zero sciense so far at the middle classical era:confused: Here is some image http://imageshack.us/f/10/maintenanceh.png/
That's kinda frustrating and I hope there's some solution:(

If time permits, it would be appreciated if there were game/world creation options to turn these on/off. I realize this might be difficult to do since your method blocks them when loading C2C in the first place. But it would be nice to have different save games with/without these alt-histories. My 13 year old daughter likes to tinker around with c2c, and I don't want to constantly change these modular settings.

All you need to do is keep a copy of EXACTLY what you want on your "Desktop" then just put it in when your going to play and it will be that way when ever you want it, thats what i do for my UserDefaults. That way its just copy and paste, poof done.
