Caveman 2 Cosmos

Has anyone noticed the golden age changes I added to Human Sacrifice if you have the Druid or Mesoamerican religions? The code seems to all be there but I have not tested them - I keep forgetting to take those religions.

Didnt know, besides i never use those religions, do you need me to test them for ya??

the problem is that I did not notice when it was that I uploaded the Human Sacrifice updates. It may just have been when I did the other captive stuff recently. So I was just wondering if any one had seen it.

But yes it needs testing. You should get small Golden Ages or turns added to your current Golden Age depending on the buildings you have in the city. eg Druid Cathedral buildings, Pyramid of the Sun, etc.

Did you get some music from YouTube? I was randomly browsing and I found a piece of music that I heard from the game! O.o

Hi folks,

just a short question: Has anybody an idea about a new release (date) ?

I plan to start a new game this evening and I will go crazy, if after some hours playtime, there would be a new release. ;)

Apart from that, keep going on, it`s the best Mod or to be precise, it`s more like civ 6 for me :D

best regards

onkelm

Thx for the kind words, but in this mod you dont have to worry about whether its from last release to this release, it has a compatibility built into it, so you can continue on for months and months even with new info, releases what ever . . . SO

It really is like Civ VI, I wonder if there is possible to know roughly how many that plays this mod? Would be fun to know :)

About 100,000 at least is my best estimate.

I just downloaded the latest v33 of C2C after I have received news MAF problems were almost entirely "dissolved". Sadly, once I unzip, all the files get an error. I suppose all the files when it goes over 5000 unzipping errors (and I didn't wait until it ends). And I just unzip on my desktop, not even in program files where most get caught by admin problems because of Vista (which I have).

I'm stumped because the download went all fine. Before redownloading (learnt lesson with 5 times RInvictus downloaded costing me all my bandwidth), I prefer to enquire if that troubleshooting was met by others.

I bet that is a conservative figure MrAzure, probably more like 250k.

What do you mean it is really is like Civ IV?:crazyeye:

The download works fine, I do it directly from Mod DB site. What compression program you using dude? I use 7zip myself, I have had issues with the windows compression built in.

I am not to sure how Vista will run this game, I have upgraded at every chance I could. Win 7 and 8 seem to run it a lot better for me. ;) Redownload bro

Lol @dude. I have done nothing! I'm innocent! :)

Used Winrar. Let's see for 7zip. All I know is that worked fine for the last version. I was able to play...10 turns, but that was working at least (I could get further, but it was just too slow at that time).

I'm pretty sure you are all overly optimistic for the number of people playing C2C.

There are presumably several alternate download sites, particularly some in various non-English speaking locations, and I don't know what the download totals are like for them but they are most likely lower than the English ModDB site's downloads.

Given that v33 has had a combined total number of downloads from ModDB across the .7z and installer versions of 3,523 (plus some unknown number via torrent, but which is probably much smaller than that, and maybe a few dozen who use the SVN but are not on the team, and some unknown number of people who are still downloading a very old version via Desura) my guess is that the number of people who play C2C on at least a semi-regular basis is probably not much over 10,000, and over half of them rarely update to new versions. I would guess that there are probably another 20,000 - 30,000 who have downloaded it at least once, many of whom will never update to a new version since they only play it a small number of times.

Other than the actual download counts at ModDB this is just guesses. All you can really say for sure is that there are more than 3,500 who have tried the current version, if you assume that everyone who downloads it actually tries it. Well, you can also say that it is highly unlikely that the 250k guess is anywhere near the correct number.

The 106363, at the moment, downloads figure here at CFC is cumulative downloads across many versions - since before it was actually called "Cavemen 2 Cosmos", I think.

One odd thing is that assuming the numbers across the bottom of the post in the download database are up to date then there have been nearly 11,000 clicks on that page's download button (106363 - 95600 = 10,763) for the current version which have resulted in only around 1/3 as many actual downloads at ModDB. I hope that the Desura download button is not being used by twice as many people as the correct download button.

And impossible to know how many are truly clever and using the svn version so that they don't ever have issues with interrupted downloads... and there's usually someone who comes along and offers a torrent download as well.

I would've thought the overall # of followers each revision hovers at around 3-5k. When you think of how many downloads are duplicate attempts by the same individual... probably cuts the REAL list down a lot.

To me, that's still something I'm in total awe of. And to think it's stayed this consistent despite the introduction and vast expansion of the Civ V franchise...

I think you need to use the latest version of 7zip because we used some of the extra compression options to get the file as small as possible.

Honestly if it were just the active people on the forum I would still be happy. Those are the people I made it for (besides my own personal wants). In fact if it weren't for this amazing civ4 community I would have just modded it on my own for my own personal use rather than sharing it. And I am glad we do share since we get a heck of a lot more accomplished as a team. :goodjob:

I 100% agree here;)
