Caveman 2 Cosmos

1. Read this guide to space stuff: https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/a-guide-to-space-and-the-future.620584/
If you read pedia you would know what you are missing.
You NEED to use some units to get certain buildings in Lunar and Earthly cities to build Cislunar Economy wonder - its needed for O'Neil cylinder.

2. Alternatively you can update to latest SVN: https://github.com/caveman2cosmos/Caveman2Cosmos/wiki/Using-SVN
There you won't need units to get space buildings.
For example supply ships are removed, and instead you can build their buildings for cheap on Moon.
Asteroid buildings needed for stuff also are directly buildable - no need to use space units to get space missions and plop buildings.
Lunar settler still needs Lunar Base improvement or its upgrade to build city on Moon though.

I appreciate that you’re trying to help. I’ve been referencing the in-game Civilopedia constantly for months. As I keep saying….I’m far into the Transhuman era. I have as many level 3 space stations that will fit on the map. I have 15 lunar colonies with every building built. I have the entire inner and outer solar system colonized with every building built. I have asteroid mines all over the place. I have built the asteroid mine wonder. I have sent captured asteroids back to Earth and built more than a few captured asteroid “buildings.” I can’t for the life of me figure out what I’m missing. When I look at the requirements for Lunar trade, I can see that I’ve built all of the things required. Same for the O’Neil cylinder. I will look at the link you sent me, but I doubt I will see anything new. Thanks for trying.

Follow up…..

I just read the thread you suggested I read. I didn’t learn anything new. I’m really stuck. I don’t know if there’s a glitch in the game, or I’m being obtuse. But I’ve built everything I can build in multiples. So I don’t know what I’m missing.

The two key things that are screwing up my game is the lack of cislunar economy (all factors have been met) and the O’Neil cylinder(s)- again…all factors seem to be met.

Another follow up:

I’ve done all of my research (again again again). Cislunar economy requires:

orbital factory (1)
Space shipping warehouse (2)
Solar power satellite (3)
Commercial spaceport (6)
Asteroid mine (1)
Maglev launcher (2)
Cislunar colony (3)
Lunar base (3)
Lunar spaceport (1)
Lunar assembly plant (1)
Organic photonic cells
Meta material wares
Exoskeleton
May only exist on Earth plot.

I have all of that in many multiples. So WTH am I missing!?!?!?!?

You need multiple of these, so tooltip or bottom bar in pedia may be lying about required amount of them if you are playing on moddb version.

The information in the Civilopedia should tell you how many of the required buildings you actually have (e.g. 10/6 if you have 10 and the requirement is 6).

I swear to you I have everything. I did a little more poking around my game. I discovered that I need one asteroid mine (on Earth) to build cislunar economy. I don’t know how to build this. It says it can be built with a captured asteroid. So I have sent many captured asteroids to many Earth cities. I’m always given one choice: “build captured asteroid (building).” So I build a captured asteroid in each city. It makes no sense to me. I can’t figure out how to build an asteroid mine in an Earth city. This appears to be the key to everything.

Do you have any ideas?

Move that unit to Earth city lmao
Also send heavy rocket to Space Station Level 3 and turn it into mission reward - it also can build asteroid related buildings

Some units can build buildings - its vanilla civ feature, where some units can place some buildings

I have moved many captured asteroids to earth cities. The only option I’m given is “build a captured asteroid.” This makes no sense to me. Why do I have to turn a captured asteroid into a captured asteroid? No sense at all. Is there an earth unit that can turn the captured asteroid (either the actual asteroid, or the captured asteroid “building”) into an asteroid mine?

BTW: I have built a bunch of asteroid mines around some cislunar colonies, and I have built the asteroid mine building in the cislunar colonies.

As you can see, I’m really frustrated.

Also: when I look in the Civilopedia under cislunar economy, it says I need an earth based asteroid mine to make cislunar economy. It says I have (0-1). Zero of one needed.

We keep saying you to send heavy rocket to space station level III and do space mission on it...
Same was said in space guide

I appreciate that you’re trying to help, but I think I’ve already stated that I’ve done that many times over. I have something like 20 or so level 3 space stations (or as many as can fit on the map). I have sent a rocket to the space stations. I’ve completed all of those missions long ago.

The problem is that I need to build an asteroid mine (on Earth) in order to get cislunar economy (so that I can build an O’Neil cylinder). I’ve sent captured asteroids to Earth, but I don’t know how to build an Earth based asteroid mine.

I hope that clears everything up. Any ideas?

Get SVN then
https://github.com/caveman2cosmos/Caveman2Cosmos/wiki/Using-SVN

You must be doing something very wrong since that building is buildable by unit
This was changed in SVN, where all buildings buildable by space units are now buildable normally too.

Nope. It’s not that. My game and the mods are installed properly. Have been for a long time. I’ve been playing versions of C2C for a long time. This is the first time I’ve ever played this far into a scenario. So I’ve never run into this problem before.

I’d like someone to address the specific issue I’m having trouble with. Building an asteroid mine on Earth. I know I should be able to build it, because when I click the little red circle with the line through it, I can see all of the buildings that I haven’t built in any specific city and I can see that asteroid mine is one of those buildings. I just can’t figure out how to build it.

Asteroid mine is building.
This building can be placed by one of mission rewards.

Ok. Which mission reward? I’ve done them all as far as I know. I need really specific information. As I’ve said: I’m far into the transhuman era. I thought I had completed all of the mission rewards. I don’t have a clue which mission reward I need or how to get it.

Actually, upon further investigation, I can’t see the asteroid mine in the hidden menu of buildings that I haven’t built yet, but I can see the O’Neil building in the hidden menu for some of my cislunar colonies (the ones with mines). But I can’t build it.

OMG! I finally figured it out. I had to send a rocket to one of my space stations and perform a resupply mission. This is really stupid. Sorry to bother all of you, but thanks for the help.

follow up. Ok wait. I still can’t build cislunar economy or the O’Neil cylinder.

Ok. Folow up to the follow up. I finished my turn and lo and behold, on the next turn, I was allowed to build the cislunar economy wonder.

I have to say all of this was really frustrating and unnecessarily complicated.

Question, which version is the most up to date. I believe I downloaded a version from March of 2021, is that the most current version of this mod, or should I have used the version from 2020? Also, is there a way to have a custom game with a large earth map? The only earth maps I can find are in the custom map area, but not the custom game set up where I get to pick all the options for the game. If I go on the custom maps, I don't get to pick my options, and the game just begins.

Just wondering, how many civs is a fun amount to play with on a custom scenario on the Space Map Large3_V3 (size large, since it won't let me change it). I didn't know you could change the number so I just went with the default 10. Playing on Noble initially, once I'd met most of the other civs, the points were looking like this:
UK - 900 Points
Brazil -700 Points
Korea - 600 Points
Australia (me) - 300 Points
6 other civs - 50 to 150 Points

I wasn't playing great since I didn't know how to play too well, but, eventually I "GOT IT" and got to first place around the time UK reached 3000 points.
It just felt a little dull with only 4 main civs including myself and the UK seemed to dominate due to being on a massive island with only Brazil. I feel I should have had more players to avoid this. What number would you recommend? 20, 30, 100 :P

P.S. Could I play a larger map size on Space Map Large3_V3 or is the grayed-out Large size unchangeable no matter what?

I don't think 100 players will work, 40 or so is the maximum.

I'm currently playing with 35 and C2C is very responsive, and has no memory issues. I've had 22 civs on a large space scenario (Snofru?) without any issues.

Oh, I thought the map I mentioned was the only space map that worked correctly with the mod (at least fully with later techs). I was thinking in that case, for my next game, I might do that high to low mode with 40 civs. I wonder if you have to meet all the civs before it makes you the weakest civ. Also, is there a limited number of turns required to take first before it resets you to take control of the weakest civ once you become the strongest. Because you could technically become the strongest civ in very few turns with pure luck.

Also, LOL, I'm new, I ask too many questions but can someone link me to the difference between the difficulty levels in the game like settler difficulty vs harder ones? How do they differ? This game is epic!
