CCM1 (epic mod)

Perhaps an AI civ had their last city taken by another AI civ and had a settler loose? I tried to load your save and got Italian rifleman/infantry message so you are not using the latest biq. See first post for 1.4 and maybe by the time you read this a new main file and biq 1.5!

Hmm, I thought I did have the latest .biq... in this one workers see invisible units, I thought that was pretty recent. Anyway I fixed it. :D Apparently I had to DOW a certain civ. Somehow, that prevented another civ from making a DOW to that civ during interturn, which saved the game from freezing. I'm not sure why that might be, but I'm glad that I can go back to playing this excellent mod!

I think I have time to start a new game with the latest version 1.4. I am redownloading the large file and updated files. This time I won't play on SID; that is too frustrating for me, even with my level of patience (which doesn't last too long when being overcome by enemy hordes ;)).

Is the main download contain everything up to v1.4? Or should I download all the updates? I look forward to seeing the changes and playing through the whole thing this time around!

I have finished the new CCM mainfile (zipped 740 MB) and now I have to test, if all is working well, as the updates and additions for CCM are huge.

Damn, I'm dying to get my hands on this. Best mod in a looooong time. :goodjob:

I am loving this mod. I think it's excellent :D Here is just a small feedback report I guess? In the attached save, if you advance the turn (it's at the end of my turn already :) ), the game freezes after a couple of MPP, peace treaty, and war declaration notifications. Any guess as to why?

Sorry Underpaid for the delay in the response, but until now I didn´t have the time to look into your save-file and to analyze the error. On the other side what you posted here (and some posts later when you solved the error) is nothing new for me. I´m not astonished, that this freeze happened -I´m astonished that there were so many games when this freeze situation doesn´t happen and it seems we were somewhat successful to eleminate most of these freeze situations.

Beside the last settler-problem (what causes a ctd, not a freeze) these last freeze situations mostly result from a bad pathfinding-programming for units with the "wheeled"-flag -and in CCM most units have this flag. In some situations units with the wheeled flag can´t find their path across terrain that is forbidden for wheeled units and than the game freezes.

As you wrote some posts later, this freeze situation can mostly be circumvented by a diplomatic or trade action. This situation could be avoided, if I would set no units to the wheeled flag or restrict units with the wheeled flag to move over the field as it was done in Civ 3 with the arty-units (what could be a part of the drama of the not-working arty-units in Civ 3). But I don´t do these settings as I have the opinion, that the new movement rules in CCM are a big progress in strategy for Civ 3. :)

Tom2050, please wait a little bit with the download of the old main file, as it could be that I´m able to upload the new mainfile (and the new biq) next weekend - of course the new mainfile contains your recoulered Egyptian worker and settler (even on this place a big thank you to you for doing that recoulering). :)

And of course also a big thank you for the kind words of all posters here in the last posts of this thread. :)

Will you be updating the first post in this thread, or starting a new thread? Will you be including a list of files called for, but not included in the package? I ask because as a Mac user I need to have all files called for by a mod located in the mainfiles folder. This courtesy of Aspyr.

Just on the off chance, has anybody tried CCM with the MacSoft edition of Civ3?

Quick question, can you make an earth map for this mod? I quite love playing on Earth maps.

All files needed should be in the next upload of the CCM mainfile and the new biq. Of course later we will have corrections, updates and additions to those files, but prebetatest version 1.5 will be a cut and a start with a new mainfile. The links in the first post of this thread will be updated. The first post will be rewritten when the betatest is finished, to add for all the friendly helpers who made a lot of suggestions and reports in this thread, the CCM succession game and a German thread, the credit they do deserve. :)

I´m working on the CCM Earth Map since a long time (always with bigger breaks :) and it will still need a lot more time, as it is a massive amount of work). Here are some screenshots from an early version of that Earth Map:

The game-mechanism behind that Earth Map (the things you can´t see here :D) is rather innovative and in my eyes adequate to the new game concepts in CCM.:)

C'mon Saturday! :D

I like. Have you tried Snoopy's or Rhye's terrains with it?

Dang, that map is huge , But I can't wait :yumyum:

Wow a poem. :cooool:

But I still have to combine the stuff from two different computers, do a last cheque if at least all units in the combined file are running well and than do the upload. I will inform you when it is time for it. :)

Actually some lyrics. I think the song is "Anticipation", but I'm not betting the farm on the title.

Seriously, take the time you need to get things right. Better it be well done and late than on time and crap.
