So Smithy dude,
What the heck is this adventurer's Robe all about?

Sorry I forgot to put a link to the decriptions .... check again I added a link where you can find the answer.

:)

OOC:

I've got no idea what to pick here . . .

I know I'll need a dagger and a battleaxe, obviously. So that's 32GP. He doesn't seem to sell slings, but I'll assume I can make one and so I'll need maybe 40 bullets? That brings me to 42GP.

That's fairly straightforward, but for armor I'm really at a complete loss. It seems like I'd need more stats regarding how each piece will affect my Dex bonus to AC. I'm guessing with a 15 Dex I won't want to go higher than Chainmail and a medium shield. A helmet also seems like a good idea if it eliminates critical hits as the description implies. So that brings me to 270GP for armor, and 312GP overall. That doesn't seem unreasonable, I don't think. But again, I'd have to know more about how armor works to make a final decision . . .

IC

My list of what I wants:

Composite Longbow - 100
Bastard Sword - 35
Arrows x5 - 50
Studded Leather Armour - 40
Small Shield - 25

Total: 250 GP

No cloak? Bah!

OOC

@Raisin: I believe this is what's best for a ranger? If you can offer any suggestions I'd be much inclined :)

IC:

Ian: I could do with:

A dagger - 2gp
Leather/studded leather armour - 30gp/40gp (OOC: Do I have proficiency in studded?)
A shortbow - 30gp
100*arrow - 50gp

Total: 112/122gp

IC:

I'll have:

Flail -- 15GP
Bullets (60) -- 15GP
ScaleMail -- 60GP
Helmet -- 20GP
Gauntlets -- 20GP
Medium Shield -- 50GP
Sling -- 20GP
--------------------------------------------
Total -- 200GP

Don't you have any slings for sale ?

OOC: OK guys need some precisions? Here they are.

The lower the AC number the better.
Since you are a fighter you have no restrictions regarding armor and weapons.
Your best choice is to get the strongest armor you can buy with the money you have.

What's best for me too?
Would I look good in a helmet?
Can I just have inneffectual armor that just makes me look sexier?

Ill post restrictions per class at the end of this post.

Studded Leather is the best armor for your class, you dont have any proficiencies for armor only restrictions per classes.

Yes but I would choose a stronger armor.

Restrictions per class:

Fighter and Ranger : No restrictions on weapons and armor.
Cleric : No restrictions for armor class but only allowed Blunt weapons.
Mage : Cannot wear any armor. (robes only) Dagger, Quarterstaff, club and slings.
are the only weapons allowed.
Thief : Leather or studded leather armor allowed. Short sword, dagger, club, slings and shortbows allowed (darts also)
Bard : Leather, studded leather or Chainmail allowed. (you cannot cast spells with a chainmail on but you can with studded or leather armor.) Any weapon is allowed.

Mage, Thives and Bards are not allowed to wear helmets and Gauntlets.

I added the sling in the choices. I forgot to put it yesterday. :)

@Ummmmmmm........ I calculated your AC with a half-plate and it would bring it to AC 2

IC:

ThunderHammer: Sorry Mr.Bard, you cannot try things out. If you buy some items there is no refunds. I will buy back your items but at a lesser price than what I sell at.

All my items are at a great price, but I sure wish I had more Iron coming from the Naskel mine to make special weapons.

I can also buy back jewlery and items.

I can also Identify Item for a little 100GP.

OOC: I see, I was using this site as a guide:

From Planet Baldur's Gate

Rangers are skilled woodsmen and hunters. Although able to use any armor, they must wear studded leather or lighter armor when trying to moving silently in the shadows and underbrush. In BG, this skill is called Stealth and can be used in any setting, including cities.

Do I have stealth ability? I don't think I do, so I'll change my list accordingly. If I do though, I'll keep what I asked for :)

OOC: Yeah you do have it. But considering the kind of party you guys have I would leave those silent thignies to the thief.
You guys only have 2 real fighters and 1 cleric. I would probably say that you are better off acting more like a Fighting Ranger that a silent one. You guys need "Tanks" to fend off enemies (Kan' and Oskar) The Cleric is a nice fighting machine too but He's going to have to heal the party also.

If you need to do some "silent" things you can always buy a extra studded leather and keep it in inventory and switch armor when needed.

IC:

To give you guys a timeline to follow. It is now 10:00 AM and you guys have been browsing through Thunderhammer's wares for 15 minutes. :)

OOC: Good points there. As amusing as it may be, I don't think using the dwarf as bait for our enemies is such a grand idea ;)

IC

@All: Okay then guys, a little consensus here regarding the money before making a purchase. By purchasing chainmail instead of leather armour and a shield will take me up to 385 gold. I didn't really want to push 330, but I believe this will help me be a frontline fighter. I figure seeing as some of you aren't going beyond 200 gold it won't be a problem, but I don't want to presume too much.

If not, I can easily drop back to using a shield and scalemale.

@Glappo/Perf: The smithy here may know a bit about the 'gnoll situation.' Fancy seeing if he'll give us some info?

OCC: i edited my post with the purchases. It's now 200GP

@Rasin Bran: who is the person with the highest Lore ? (and how will he know if he can identify an item ?) - kuz i don't wanna pay 100GP to id my ring.

OOC:

Okay, I remember how 2nd edition works now, armor-wise.

IC:

I'll take:

Dagger -- 2GP
Sling -- 20GP
40 bullets -- 10GP
Battleaxe -- 30GP
Chainmail -- 200GP
Medium Shield -- 50GP
Helmet -- 20GP

So for a total that's 332GP, less than 1/6 of our gold (just barely). If we've got gold left over I'd love to go for some better armor.

OOC:

Right now I'm at AC4, with protection against critical hits. That really ought to be enough for gnolls, but more is always better, if we have the cash . . .

Didn't one of our casters memorize Identify last night?
