Changes to returning civilizations

With GAds.... I guess you need to be able to stack. Although I believe you can still stack embarked settlers/workers with Triremes no (haven't played Polynesia in a while)???

But it seems excessive. I am wondering how the battles will be weighted with two water units stacked in the same tile. Do you lose both units? Do they fight together? Who knows???

As for Songhai, no movement penalty over rivers makes sense. Leave it at that.

Supposedly ships can be stacked with embarked units now (I'm guessing either
1. lose one (regular ship) first.. then the embarked one is exposed
2. lose one lose the "stack"

And amphibious would remove the combat penalty for attacking over rivers... but removing the movement penalty would be good too.

I saw on one of the many articles about gods and kings that said some of the old civs were getting reworked in response to new gameplay elements. I would lke to talk about which civs if any people feel should get a redo. It can be for any reason and say what you would like it changed to. It can be a complete redo or just minor additions. Example:
Spain- keep discovery bonus but give them somthing like conquered cities produce more faith.
India- Somthing to do with bonus for founding religions
I would love to see what everyone else thinks about the existing civs

Russia would be suitable for a bonus regarding espionage. England needs a buff, and historically it could be a faith/espionage bonus. Askia's bonus of embarkation with defense needs a change because now it will be the default.

I think the Aztec UA will be reworked to make them produce faith instead of culture for each enemy killed.

As there's two new city-state types(mercantile and religious) I wonder about Greece's and Siam's UAs too.

Someone suggested that as new navies are more powerful and AI is supposed to use them better, England could have a nice boost to Great Admirals (a new GP).

Ottoman will definately get changes as it's been so lamented. :P

Many civs could qualify for an espionage bonus, including Catherine (due to modern Russia more than Enlightenment-era Russia per se), Elizabeth I and Genghis Khan.

That's got me thinking: increased great admiral appearances and more effective ones for England a la China's UA?

I definitely see Spain getting a faith based bonus and possibly India. The only one I know for sure they will rework though is Songhai

China is OP as it is.... I think transferring that over to England doesn't help matters.

Babylon/England/China's are pretty unimaginative. But I guess there is not much else they can come up with.

I really do hope Catherine gets a facelift. Her UA was interesting back when production was so scarce but now the extra hammer is relatively weak. Double resources was interesting as an original concept, but in practice, 1UPT doesn't really allow for mass usage of the resource. Arabia's double oil is actually more effective since planes can at least be stacked.

Add in her bland cossacks and a pathetic bonus to her barracks and she really one of the few civs I can't stand to play.

I actually liked the massive iron and horses. I'd often sell the extra to someone who wasn't my neighbor.

Another one of these topics, huh?

I hope not. Several of the new Civs have faith-related UAs, and Religion peters out in the Rennaisance, so it may not be as helpful as culture. There aren't even that many culture buffing UAs. Monty is perfectly fine as is.

I'm not a fan of making two Civs have essentially the same UA. That makes them somehow less...unique. England's UA will already be better with the naval revamp. If anything, they should get some small mercantile bonus.

I think they should limit plane stacking, but ending it is a bit extreme. You can have five units around a city but only one plane in range, which limits their effectiveness. It's possible the increased durability of units will mitigate things a bit.

Sacrificing is obviously obsolete in the Renaissance era.... at least it should be. More realistic to add the bonus toward faith. Cut the bonus after you hit a certain tech ala France. The UA does not need to be continuous as it obviously isn't with France.

England's UA is a joke. I'd like to see some bonus where it makes sense to spread out the Empire and make it a global power. A Navy buff with extra Great Admirals is too one dimensional. As it is with Germans/Ottomans. Every civ needs more dimensions but those especially.
