Children of the Emperor – Life and Death amidst the Clans of Japan

wow, i think the daimyo of kagoshima was just threatened with assassanation!

CIVIL WAR!

sorry to burst your bubble but that is impossible for me, since I always take precedence becoming automatically Daimyo of whatever city I reside in. Why stoop to such low acts when all I have to do is a catch a horse to Kagoshima and ex officio as eldest citizen kick him off his modest little throne.

Although I suppose if he really does get irritating I could make some sort of deal with the opposing clans in his city to get him removed. But I don;t see the neccesity for that, after all he is only a minor annoyance in a minor city. :p

perhaps we could lock the crazy mad man in a tower or something before he tries to tell us the world isn't flat or that the earth isn't the center of the universe.

BLASPHEMY!

don't be a fool it is common knowledge the world is round has been since the classical era. However as to locking the kagaku in a tower i wouldn't be averse to the idea save that it gives him space to concoct new blasphemies in solitude. It is much safer to keep the crazy ones close for hasty dispachment in the scenario they veer too far.

interestingly Im the only one in the empire with even a semblance of genuine freedom (barring of course customary edicts from the great oni) as I can move anywhere I want and automatically become Daimyo.

To be honest I'm not sure about that. One of Oni rules states that you cannot replace citizen which belongs to the same clan as Daimyo without Daimyos permission.

Daimyo definitely belongs to his clan, doesn't he?

I know you did that, what you say, in the past and it wasn't reported to the Oni that you brake the rule but even though you managed to get around the law because Oni has missed it, it doesn't mean you'll be successful everytime. There might be an benevolent person which will gladly report that you're trying to brake the law, again :P

The entire citizenry of Kagoshima is not made up of only kagaku mad men. There are as yet sane people in that city.

And as for this whole 'world is round' poppycock. No map I have ever looked upon shows this falicy. There is scarcely proof of anything beyond the open waters of our country. Perhaps one of our esteemed scientists would volunteer to take a caravel to the ends of the earth to proove such a notion!?

I don;t neccesarily need to displace a Daimyo directly to displace them. All I need to do is displace a member from another clan and take my rightfully earned spot as Daimyo. Only Tokyo perhaps is for now secure against a direct takeover due to its preponderance of Gaiko, but im sure if I really wanted to move there (which I don't) we could work something out amicably (and I hazard a guess it won't remain so monotonously Gaiko for much longer).

Oh and incidentally I never broke an edict since I stole Kagoshima from Grzybek I for a time by kicking out a Gaiko sensei. On another point also you are forgetting the death of the ex-Daimyo Secondsaber67 of your own clan by an unfortunate exposition of american poetry by one Hillary Clinton, chief diplomat of that state.

I have heard tale of a killer joke, so I do not dismiss poetry so easily.

Of course I won't repeat the joke here as the game would surely end in all of our deaths.

perhaps do it by proxy when only the Kagaku are online and then also via proxy delete it once its work was done. Much easier way of removing the opposition rather than crude assasination.

Perhaps the Oni could translate it from German, Wenn ist das Nunstück git und Slotermeyer? Ja! Beiherhund das Oder die Flipperwaldt gersput!, and then PM the kagaku.

So it seems I've been missing a few things lately, and since the time I have available to work on the game isn't likely to increase any time soon, I'm making a few procedural changes.

1) I'm finally going to give in and start automatically signing characters back up after they die.
Originally, forcing players to resignup was intended to weed out inactive players. Now that we've adopted dismissing inactive senseis for missing council sessions, its probably not needed anymore.
Any characters dismissed for inactivity will not be signed back up.
Everyone is currently allowed 3 characters. If you have less than 3 and want more, you still need to sign them up.
Doublecheck the waiting list extra carefully during the next update, and if you don't see your characters on it make sure to let me know.

2) During the Council Session (first part), each Daimyo must either call a vote or announce they have no votes to call. Daimyos who don't will get a strike for missing the council session.
Its been easier to capture all the votes because I'm working with a list of all the active characters and looking for votes from each of them. But during the first part, sometimes Daimyos show up to call a vote and sometimes they don't. So now, each Daimyo must show up during the council session (first part) and either call one or more votes, or announce they have no votes to call. Daimyos who don't show up during the Council Session will get a strike for missing a council session.
I guess this means extra work for Daimyos, but if you're a Daimyo than you one of the most powerful people in the empire, so you get extra work now. So ha!

Sounds fair Oni; it is the desire of all Sensei of Japan to make your life as easy as possible! If there's anything else we can do, please let us know!

Also, for some people, if you have something important to tell the Oni, might be good to remember that Messaging him might be faster and more safe for him not to look over it. (;

This game is getting better and better. Keep it up Oni Yahzuk!
